Need to get back into the groove again!
I need to get back into the groove again!
If you are like me and finding things a bit slow at the moment this is because you might be suffering from the post-festive mood disorder and is having difficulty putting your body clock into the working mode again.
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere (U.S.A., Canada, Russia and all of the countries in Europe) this is similar to having a Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or winter blues.
Some of the signs and symptoms of SAD may include lack of energy, sleeplessness, difficulty with concentration, craving for sweets and overeating which might lead to weight gain. If you are experiencing some or all of the above, you need to combat these by regular physical exercise, light therapy (but not advisable because prolonged use of artificial light that don't block UV rays might lead to skin cancer) and taking Vitamin D Supplements. These will definitely boost your mood and makes you feel energetic.
Because there is not enough sunshine during the winter season especially where I live, I think the best way for me to get back into that groove again besides regular physical exercise is to eat happy foods.
Happy foods that could elevate my mood and get me into the good swing of things again. Some of the happy foods that could put a smile on your faces are the following:
- Bananas
- Salmon
- Walnuts
- Dark Chocolate
- Turkey
- Spinach
- Brazil Nuts
- Yogurt
- Oysters
- Legumes
These are the ones that I should eat nowadays but I'm a lover of bananas, salmon, spinach, yogurt and dark chocolate so these foods won't be a problem for me.
So, I need to get up now and start exercising and eat some of those happy foods before I go back to my post-festive mood again!
How about you what are the things that you are doing to get back into your groove again? Please share me your thoughts by leaving your comments or suggestions below and don't forget to press the like button for your appreciation.
Have a happy weekend!

Hi Adel thanks for sharing. Yes, getting back into the groove. I personally do yoga and meditate. For me it depends on what I need that day. Every morning I do a get me moving routine. Then, during the day I also have to stop and refocus sometimes. So, meditating and yoga help me in numerous ways and the benefits to my health and state of mind are priceless. My struggle is sweets but I am working on that.
Excellent food for thought, Adel. You certainly hit the nail on the head with your content. Sometimes it is hard to get back in the groove. Too many tomorrows leave a lot of empty yesterdays.
Marcel...
Thank you, Marcel. The important is today which is the here and now than thinking but not working for the tomorrow. :)
Thanks for the tips Adel. Eating the foods listed isn't a problem for me since I love them all. Lack of exercise is what makes me lethargic. To the gym tomorrow after the family leaves:) Weeks of family guests make it tough to stay in any routine.
Erica
You're welcome, Erica. I need to have a daily exercise regime myself as well. No problem eating those happy foods. Have a happy Sunday by the way. :)
Yes, Tom. We are in the winter season while you are summer there down under and when it's summer here, you're winter there. Exactly the oppositel because we live in Northern part and you live in the Southern part of the world. :)
