Will I or will I not be successful?

You know, one thing I'm beginning to realize is that the walls that are in front of our success or continued journey are walls that we create ourselves and they tend to be mental walls. It basically comes down to a will issue. Will you or won't you? How badly do you want to achieve your goals? Are you willing to do what is necessary to achieve your goals?

I've had my website up for a little over a year now and have been a premium member of WA for about that same length of time. I have most of the wheels in place of where I want my business to go, however I still have not made a penny yet. I know how to use and place affiliate links, I have ways to create videos and screenshots regarding the niche my website is geared towards, I know how to post my newest blogs onto social media, I've got AdSense on my site and I now even have an email newsletter people can sign up for. So you might be asking yourself why I haven't made any money yet. The answer is actually simple.

Traffic! Not just any traffic, but RELEVANT traffic to my website. I'm not saying I'm not getting any traffic to my website, but I'm not getting the type of traffic I would like to start generating income. So, what do I do? When in doubt, research the niche you are targeting. What are people asking? What problems are they encountering? What do they want to see? How can you solve their problem?

I came across a blog from earlier this year that gives a simplistic approach to be successful at affiliate marketing, but some of the things they suggest to do (which WA goes far more in depth on) to generate traffic, is to write an ebook, and guest post on forums with a signature that includes a link to your website. Now the idea of writing an ebook has always been scary to me because I fear I don't know what exactly to write about, worried it won't be long enough, interesting enough, or solve a problem people are wanting. Again though, this is a mental wall. Why I don't I give it a try? What have I got to lose? If it didn't work, learn why and do it better next time or find something else that will work. It is always going to be trial and error when it comes to our online business, but I know that eventually with enough trial, I will start to be successful.

One other thing to mention as well is that if you are not sure what people want or are needing regarding your niche, just ask! It's that simple! A new game was just released this past week in the niche that I am targeting and so I asked in the relevant forum what people would like to see from a live broadcast of the game that I like to do from my game system. I've already got some responses. That is all it takes sometimes.

Hi Brian, there are many creative ways to increase traffic to your website. As long as your creating good, original content, you should see a natural increase in traffic. If you want to help it along, there are lots of things you can do to give yourself a boost e.g.:

1. write articles with good headlines and rich in content
2. promote your site by interacting with readers through comments
3. use social networks and Google+ to expand your reach
4. build a modern design for your site that's easy to navigate

Just a few but main indications to help you in the right direction. Success!
Desmond

Just don't give up. I'm sure you've read this often ... that many online marketers give up just before their break through shows up.

Did you see this post? I thought it might give you some ideas.

Thank you! Much appreciated!

Building an online business needs lots of patience and time, dear Brian. I think Christa is right, you may want to ask Kyle or Jay to take a look at yr site. :)

I think that by hanging around here for a year, you are already successful!
I don't think that I have enough talent to write an e-book, however, I know that eventually would like to use that as a hook, to get people to sign up. But I don't have to write it, there are other options out there.
I don't know if this will help, but most of the trainers that I listened to, say that you have to be prepared to give your site at least 2 years, to show a profit!

2 years makes sense. Amazon took over 3 years I believe before it became profitable

Just keep exploring and searching. You will find what will give you success in your time.

Wow, definitely a great journey you have been on! You know if you want you could ask Jay of Kyle to take a look at your site and see if they have any advice.

I might just do that, thanks! I think I need to revamp my site a little because a page I originally created, just is not getting much use or update like I thought I would be able to do. No sense in keeping it around if I don't intend to update that part of my site.

That's true! Well I know of others they have helped and I am sure they wouldn't mind helping you!

Wow, I could have written this blog, it is almost exactly my experience too; been here just a little over a year, no money, not much traffic. Now I am going to take your advice and try the ebook and ask others in my niche what it is they want and need. Thank you for the uplift. :)

Glad I could help :)

So true!! If you are not sure what people want or need, just ask!

Thanks for sharing your progress. I checked out your PS4 Driving and Open World Games website, and it's impressive. I really enjoyed reading your blog posts and watching the Batman Arkham Knight gameplay video. Have you tried adding links to Amazon, so visitors can buy the games?

Unfortunately, it didn't initially work out with Amazon Associates as I didn't get enough traffic at the time to generate commissions that amazon gives you 90 days for. Once my website gets where I want it to be in regards to traffic, I will give them a try again. In the meantime, I do have other affiliate links from Gamestop and Best Buy since that's where I actually buy most of my games from. My of my affiliate links are posted in my game reviews.

That was awesome...thank you for sharing your feelings. I spend my life savings and 5 years of hard work before it made me any money. That is now the business I live off while I travel the world during the last 22 months. Was it worth It? Only you can answer that question. Do you enjoy the business? That would be a better question to ask yourself. The money will come eventually just keep on it. Just make It a lifestyle if that's what you enjoy doing. Thinking of just making money all the time can be a miserable way to live. Lot's of success your way my friend. From http://www.planetearthpassport.com
