Positive Changes are Happening

Now that 2018 is well underway, I've begun making important changes in order to have a successful year this year. If you've read some of my past posts, you'll have read that I decided to do a reset here at WA since I just basically lost all my focus in the 2nd half of last year and hardly worked on any of my websites. I pretty much just petered out especially considering I had a strong start and first half in 2017.

I've started going completely through the training again and it has been so refreshing to do so as I had missed some things from my first go round with it a few years ago and there has also been updates to the training.

One thing that I'm doing different this time that I did not do last year is that I have a journal where I write down new goals, ideas, and ways to help keep myself accountable. I'm also utilizing the newer tools here at WA that were introduced last year, but I really did not take advantage of. I'm using SiteContent quite a bit now and I absolutely love it.

It has made writing my posts so much easier and it really is surprising just how much quicker and easier it helps you get to 1,000+ word posts.

Another thing I'm doing is a lot more research in my niche because that is something I didn't too much of last year for fear that I wouldn't be able to find or at least help those with problems that someone might be having in my niche.

This time I'm not going to let fear dictate me because taking action is better than not taking action at all. I will get someone's attention with posts and if I keep doing proper keyword research as well active research in my niche, I will definitely get more traffic.

My goal now is to keep writing enough content to where it gets indexed and posted to Google much quicker, basically getting Google to trust my website again.

Keep up the momemtum!

There's no stopping you now!

Great post! Goals are extremely important. I am going to have to make improvements.

It's good to know you're back and working on WA training again and on your website again.
I know you'll do great this time, keep at it!
Alejandra.

Wow what a come back, Defiant6, I agree going over lessons is good, note taking as well.
When you use the information, it goes down as long term memory, just like driving becomes an automatic reflex. I am not at this stage myself, but understand that repetition is necessary.
Cheers Jae

It is brave to pick up something abandoned and re learn things with a fresh insight. I think we could all take a lesson from this.
Just going back over the training reminds us that we can become complacent with our approach and have left some key things out which will make all the difference to our site.
I am sure Google will refined you again.
With Grace and Gratitude

You are going to be one of WA’s 2018 big inspirers!! You already inspire me!

Help others but take care of yourself.

Be easy with it all, be happy and try not to push yourself to hard.

Thank you.

Wayne

Hi Brian, I had much the same thing happen in 2017 but the important thing is we are back stronger and with more determination to succeed. Well done! ~Mark

Welcome back to WA. I think everyone goes through a loss of focus. I struggle with it every day. I write my daily goals and something always seems to come up and I can't sit down to work on my site. I get very frustrated. I'm still working on Tuesdays goals and it's now Friday. There are some days I just want to say "Why am I killing myself, I'm never going to get there." But fortunately for me, my wife helps me keep my head on straight. This is taking a lot longer than I wanted it too, and I'm slow enough without the delays. It's hard sometimes but I'm still plugging away. I keep telling myself, two years until I retire, I can still do this.

Frustrated Don :-)

Hello Brian,

First, I hope I got your name right. Sorry if not. Anyway, I have enjoyed what I read here. I have kept a journal now for 45 years, starting it in 1973 and continues through the years to date. I will say that your idea to start one is colossal! It was long beyond the point when I started writing it had I ever realized the value of keeping one. Your journal will help you track your progress and inspire you to push forward. I could say it can help you stay committed, but being private in nature, that probably wouldn't be as effective as having a coach or mentor. Yes, by all means! Start your journal and I don't have to tell you why. You already know this.

I found I had some serious lag issues stemming from many circumstances in my personal life that was severely hindering me from staying active and consistent in my work. I had to make some major changes, and I have, after four years, successfully eliminated many weights that had been holding me down, which changes include a more minimalist lifestyle, change of environment, elimination of an almost endless barrage of unfinished projects and commitments, paid up some seriously delinquent financial obligations and improved many aspects of my health and how I was taking care of myself. All these things help.

I admire your determination to take responsibility and the discipline to work this out.

Daniel

I really want to make this a success and in order for that to happen, I have to take action and change the way I've been doing things before. I find that having a journal now is extremely helpful and I can't believe I didn't do this before.

One thing that has now become a sidestep but still, a part of my Journal, is the creation and implementation of a Daily Checklist. Having started it right here on WA. I began doing this here when I realized how helpful To-Do lists were, and the object of this was to create a public liability or commitment to get things done. This did not go over very well though, and after doing it for half a year, most of the time nobody reading the posts, (this is what I observe about folks doing the Day1 Day2 Day3 thing, having readership falling off, in most cases) I stopped doing it. A couple years later, I started doing it again within my Journal, along side of entries.

This system has helped me accomplish stuff that I would have never done without it. The system keeps track of everything vital to my life and business. Once I had to put down my business inorderto rid myself of the many obstacles to running my business, I used that system to systematically blaze the trail through it all and effectively eliminate it. I have some stuff left, but now it is manageable. Before, it was such a mountain of stuff, I simply did not know where to start, and it was constantly getting in the way of my work online.

Your Journal will help you formulate what needs to be done in your life to correct what is impeding you, set up the proper goals (and the smaller, bite-sized goals inside those.) The Journal becomes the place where you input your successes and your failures, and the Daily Checklist (both intertwined) is just that - a checklist of everything, in categories, that you need to get things done on a daily basis to reach those goals. My three markers for each items is, "Done," "Progress," and "Undone." under categories such as, "Dailies," "New Business," "Old Business," "Things To Be Eliminated," "Church Checklist," "Work Checklist," and with large projects, such as "Photograph Digitization Project." Done with other media as well, I have been able to digitize and then get rid of physical collections of media.

I have used my Journal to help me break away from psychedelic drugs. Sadly, I have impaired my mind with pot, LSD and others, extensively used well over half my lifetime. I have lost the use of some of my short-term memory and am now on disability. The damage I have done to my brain is permanent. This is where the Journal and Daily Checklist helps me!

As of late, I have added to my Dailies category, "Work on WA Campaign Has Been Done." This is then marked as Done, Progress or Undone every day. I do not have a separate checklist for this, at least for now, because there is a system on here already for that, which is yet another thing to look into.

Having such a checklist system with your Journal is a very powerful tool, whether you build one to suit yourself or use one already made up. I have used both.. I would not be where I am now had I never used these tools.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I see the advantage of having a checklist system like the one you described and I'm already working on one right now. I'm glad to hear that it has been such a tremendous help in your life especially through some of the great struggles that you had to endure.
