It may be time to change my website

I've got a renewed vigor so to speak, to work hard and consistent on my first website again (as well as my second one) and one of the biggest obstacles that I have not been able to overcome is removing an annoying piece of html code that shows by the comments section of my site!

I have tried everything from adding stuff into the css style sheet, to trying different plugins to try and remove that annoying code and none of it has worked and I've broken my site a few times as well (thankfully it was able to be restored each time).

I've come to realize now that it just might actually be the theme I'm using as it is over 2 years old and guess what I found out last night? My theme hasn't been updated in 2 years! In fact I don't think you can find it on the newest or latest themes for Word Press anymore. Kind of makes me sad as I really liked that theme and seemed to work well, but that pesky html code by the comments box won't go away and the theme hasn't been updated in so long.

So now begins the search for a new theme and a bit of a revision to my website with updates to some past posts as well. Wish me luck that I'm able to find one that I like!

Have you contacted WP support????

Themes are provided by individual companies, if they decide not to keep current with WordPress updates, there is nothing you can do other than change your theme.

I haven't contacted WP support, but as onmyownterms has said below, if the individual company that made the theme has not updated in a longtime, nothing much that can be done. Still though it doesn't hurt to try, worst they can say is there's nothing they can do.

Hi Defian
I have experienced several of those deadlocks where I try but cannot find the why or how to do it.
With the help from all of you, I have been able to progress in an area that I new almost nothing.
I wish you the best,
Lisa

You will find a solution in our wonderful community.
Thanks for sharing :)

Focus on the code problem and search for solutions in the on line directory in Google!

Trust me, I've done all that and none of the solutions I've found and tried worked.

Hi,
Have you tried putting your site open for comments with WA,
This may give you several ideas without going through all that work.
LISA

Yes, I've done that in the past, asked questions in chat here, etc and while the answers provided were good, they were similar to what I've searched for in google and other places and has not worked. It has left many here who have tried to help me quite baffled as the solution or multiple solutions usually work. A lot are starting to think it's an issue with my particular theme especially since there hasn't been updates for it for the last couple of years.

I love Thrive Themes, drag and drop is better for non-techy users like myself and they have some great themes :)

Nice! I will have to check them out, thank you!

Thanks for sharing.

Keeping up with Theme updates is one of the biggest PITAs for this business. Good luck on your search.

Thank you!
