Goals and the Importance Of Them

Last Update: January 19, 2020

I really like Wealthy Affiliate and I've learned a lot in my 6 years that I've been here and still have plenty more to learn. My first website had me excited and I did have some big ideas for it and where I thought it would take me. The thing is, I never really planned for it properly or set realistic goals to achieve the financial goals I had envisioned for myself.

While my first website does have a decent amount of content on it, it never really made much money. Sure, I did earn some here and there with a majority of it from Google AdSense and just a few affiliate sales here and there from Amazon that really amounted to a few cents, but my heart wasn't fully into it and I didn't focus on the content that would truly bring in the revenue that I wanted.

For one, I pretty much let my readers down by saying that I would give full reviews of products in the niche I tried after doing my first impressions of them, but never followed through. Second, I got to eager on getting the websites up and running that I always wanted to do, that I started up my second website and started spreading myself too thin. Third, I really had started losing A LOT of interest in the niche of my first website. I fooled myself into thinking I could make tons of money in that niche because it had been a large part of my life for so long, but in all honesty, my interest in it just started to decrease greatly.

Last year, I took a lot of time away from Wealthy Affiliate to re-evaluate what I wanted to do and focus and where I could be the most helpful to people. I've decided to put my first website on the backburner (and may eventually delete it) and put my complete focus on my second website as I feel I could do the most good. Plus, with my second website I can promote Wealthy Affiliate and I can tell people what things are scams and how to avoid being a victim of them because I hate so much that so many people today are falling victim to them.

So now, I've set goals for my second website with a big one being getting to at least a total of 100 posts to my website this year. I'm at 36 so far and I've added 2 in the last couple of days and a few more before that. I've also come up with a plan on the types of content to add to my second website with a large part of them being reviews, something I had shied away from on my first website because I doubted my abilities to attract readers to them. I'm not doubting myself now like I did before. I also want to add Best of posts and with the content I've been adding lately, I'll certainly be able to do that pretty soon. My other goal is to fully complete the Affiliate Bootcamp and put into practice what I've learned from it. I've got a lot to do this year, but I do believe it'll be a great one and that I can reach my goals. My ultimate goal is to make it to Las Vegas within the next 3 years.

Good Morning Brian,

Self-doubt is probably the biggest obstacle one can have. If you do not believe in yourself how can other people believe you?
I am a very stubborn type of person and even if financially it has not been a success yet I am pleased when people say they have learned something by reading my posts. I will just continue with my writing.
I think you have made a good decision and I can see you are full of energy again, well done. Wishing you success with your second website.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

You've obviously put a great deal of thought on what wasn't working for you and setting new goals. I wish you much success during the upcoming year!
