How Do You Measure Progress?

Measuring progress may be subjective, which in my case, it most certainly is. Today, finding myself completing a WA lesson task, which asked me to do that (measure my progress), I discovered that, indeed, it is (subjective) for me, here. Seems like an oxymoron, doesn't it: measurement vs. subjective?

However, in looking over several years, I was able to discover and name several areas (on somebody's chart) of progress in my journey here at Wealthy Affiliate, some of which I even take pride in, namely going from nincompoop in all things digital to recently carrying on a lively discussion about website design with a website designer. This is major. And this is progress.

I am also impressed by the fact that I knew to google that strange old word to make sure I didn't insult an entire country, too; and as it turns out-- read quote below:

Nincompoop

For such a colloquial word, nincompoop actually has a very learned past. Samuel Johnson, the compiler of England’s first proper dictionary, claims the word comes from the Latin phrase non compos mentis (“not of right mind”), and was originally a legal term. mentalfloss.com.

Whatever, it doesn't sound great-- But not as bad as "minger", which probably is bad. You can look it up yourself.

Whether, or not, I am of right mind, so much for the aside. On the other hand, I was never as handy before at using the tools on the Internet as I am now. Progress.

The lesson also asked for comments on the goals we wrote when we started. Mine are the same, and I added a few:

5000 per month this year.

120,000 in the next three years.

To make top 200 here at WA by June, '19.

To blog a book by 2020.

I had to change time put in, because I don't have 8-10 hrs. per day left in me. I now commit to 3-6 hrs per day.

And I will get 'r done.

Oh wow! Great
👍✨

PS'

Other translations for non compis mentis:

- Insane
- Not having control of one's mind

;-)

Thanks, Fleeky. You made me smile again.

Loved it!

Hi Deelilah, so nice to read about your journey with WA, just keep going with whatever time you have, thats the secret. best wishes

Delilah nice article. We each have our on measuring stick to measure our own success but many try to look at other's success and try to replicate theirs. But this is a mistake. We have to run our on race.

Danny

I too have had to adjust my goals as I can only put in 3-4 hours a day too...but I believe slow and steady and quality will get us there!

The tortoise beat the hare. Yay.

You are awesome Dee! and by what I read and how you write; certainly not a 'nincompoop' :)
