Hi: I went through a simlar situation. My suggestion for clearity and for avoiding precious time loss go to site suppout right here at WA. In less then 10 minutes you will have the exact answer to your concern....no misleading confusion by accident. Go to site Rubix and click on site support...that simple...

I don't have any of my websites with Siterubix.

I understand but you can still ask for answers there...No? Perhaps I am not helping correctly..Sorry

I think the cheapest way to buy Domain names is the best way to go, why pay more than necessary?

It's an upsell and not necessary. I buy my domains from NameCheap and have the DNS pointed to my hosting companies. Using Cloudflare is another alternative. Hope this helps. :-)

Thank you.

I would not do it, just a waste of money.

I also got my domain with Go Daddy and had to change my DNS to be able to work on my site at WA. But Premium...? Hmm

Well, I don't think you need it unless you want to simply fatten the owners pocket.

Yep! Right on...Thanks!

I agree, it might help with reliability or protect you from denial of service attacks so has some benefit and usually an upsell by the domain seller. You can get the same services free or at very low cost elsewhere (such as cloudflare) if you're worried about reliability or speed.

I just find it confusing since my domains are registered in one place and my hosting somewhere else.

I've followed along to a couple of lessons as it appeared that my sitemap needed resubmitting. What does "Indexing Requested" and what do I need to do about it? I have the Yell

Hi DeeDee, first go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home
Click on your site and then scroll down to Sitemaps and click on that. It should be /sitemap.xml From there you can add/test the existing sitemap to make sure it's functioning correctly.

I've used Google XML Sitemaps for years, although recently (here at WA) I've utilized the AiO XML feature, and it is set with the same parameters as Google XML. I understand that Kyle indicated to use Google XML, however they also encourage us to use 5 or less plugins.

So to me that's confusing. If WA starts us with AiO and EWWW and then instructs us to use Google XML, that leaves only 2 plugins to use to still maintain high marks on the WA Site Health metric.

I understand the concept of limiting plugins for 2 reasons. #1 Every plugin we use adds code to the site and could pose security vulnerabilities. #2 Some plugins can increase page load times. So for me, as long as my pages load quickly and my site is secure, I will use whatever plugins I want for functionality.

I'm not trying to be disagreeable or make waves, but as it is right now I have (the recommended # of) 5 plugins installed, and my Site Score in that area is still 70%. I need to add 1 or 2 more, so as long as I'm safe and my site loads quickly, I don't care if I have 5 or 8 plugins.

Back to XML, try my suggestions above and let me know if I can help. Have a great day DeeDee!

Thanks for the in-depth answer. I truly appreciate it. I think it's functioning correctly, when clicking on sitemaps, I'm getting graphs showing "Submitted" and "Indexed". One question though, where do you find the site score?

My pleasure DeeDee, and yes, if you see graphs indicating "submitted" and "indexed" it is functioning correctly. To access Site Score here at WA, go to Tools > Websites & Hosting

Scroll to the site you wish to check, then in the upper right box of that you need to click View Details. That will show the WA Site Scores, and if you want more info click Details. Hope this helps! :-)

Thanks, my sites aren't with WA so that won't work.

Gotcha. I think you can check the same metrics through the same Google site where you see your sitemap data. Not at my computer now and will check tomorrow. Too difficult to see on my stupid smart phone! lol

Stupid "smart" phone. Haha!

Part of it was the stupid smart phone, part of it was the look I got that said "you better get off that dang phone and don't even think about opening up the laptop again!" haha I crack me up!

I checked out your DeeDeeCreative site and it looks real cool, nice work. There's a site I use occasionally http://www.isitwp.com/ that gives you basic info on a site. So on that it tells me you're using Enfold theme and running Yoast SEO. Have you AiO alongside that? If so, let me know what you think of the comparison as I'm on the fence about AiO.

Ok, so as far as site metrics, I believe that Yoast (like AiO) has you verify your site through Google and Bing, where you enter your site name on their webmaster tools, they provide a code, you enter it and update in your SEO module, and then you're synched up. The Google webmaster tools site is https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home and you should be able to determine many aspects of site health.

To find out more about your site speed, here are a few links you can use. This one analyzes your website speed. https://developers.google.com/speed/ This one specifically analyzes your mobile speed. https://testmysite.thinkwithgoogle.com/ This one also measures site speed but I've only used it a couple of times. I'm not paying them to learn what I can find out for free from Googletown.

Have a good one DeeDee! :-)

I generally use http://www.wpthemedetector.com/ to find out about websites, clearly the same as isitwp. I have no idea what AiO is?

My website is verified and I use webmaster tools. So far it says "no critical issues".

I have used some different websites to find my site speed etc and have some things to fix there but simply haven't gotten around to it.

Thanks for you info :)

Thanks for that site DeeDee, I have saved it in my bag of tricks. lol AiO is All in One SEO, which is comparable to Yoast. I'm sure you check for updates, or perhaps have automatic updates turned on. In either case, make sure to update your Yoast plugin. I receive security alerts from Wordfence, which is a pretty awesome security suite if you want to check them out. Yoast issued an update 2 days ago (to version 5.8) that fixed an unauthenticated cross site script vulnerability that affected versions 5.7.1 and older.

Have a great day my friend! :-)

Oh yeas, I also have Wordfence and keep on top of all my pending updates :) Thank you

It is not your sitemap that is indexed but the pages of your site reported through the sitemap.

So, what do I do to fix it?

Go to your website sitemap address which should be something like: http://[site name here].com/sitemap.xml to see if:
1.) your sitemap is working
2.) if all your posts and pages are showing

If no sitemap is found on your website, you may need to install Google XML Sitemaps. All in One SEO apparently has a sitemap plugin too, but I'm heard other members claim that it is not as stable as the one Kyle recommends we use.

Here's a tutorial to help you with the settings: Hope this helps you.

update your sitemap and submit it to Google.

I've updated my sitemap which is why I don't understand it showing this message.

I have followed along and done everything but why do I still have a yellow mark?

Also, should I delete previous ones I've submitted? They all show errors.

Is this something to worry about? The fact that indexing is still being requested?

Hey Dee,

The image of your prompt is far to tiny to read. If you can view your sitemap without issue, then perhaps this post will help you solve this: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/resolving-xml-sitemap-errors-in-google-webmaster-tools

Hope this works.

I agree it's tiny, it just says Indexing Requested with a yellow mark.
I will take a look, thanks.

It's hard, but you don't let it define you or your work.

What you can do is emotionally separate yourself from the situation and ask if there was anything you could of done better.

Maybe the issue was communication breakdown. Maybe the customer was just hard to satisfy in the first place.

If you quit because of this one customer, they win, not you. It's not worth it.

Learn from this experience, incorporate what you have learned to try to prevent these situations in the future and move on. There's always other customers.

RIGHT ON! my paragraph to deedee shortened lol lol lol

You're right, in fact I also realised that I'm underpricing myself so I'm in the process of changing my pricing structure and my offerings. Just some things are too much for me to handle.

I'm usually pretty good at handling these things but I guess the snowball effect caught up with me.

Lol! I’m sure you still have something to add.

I TOTALLY get it. I too have my days where it all seems to just gang up on me and I lose some control which means I get emotional. And that does affect conversations and relationships.

However, you are still in control.

One thing at a time.....the other things will always be there when you are ready.

Ms. Deedee know one thing. From experience alone I can tell you this. You cannot please everyone. That's something we all go through in life. I know this first hand because I work at McDonald's as a cook a runner grillman , and soon to be order taker. We catch the most flack about orders being passed out wrong made wrong and so forth...but this is how you deal with it. I'f you put your best foot forward every round your customers are only going to expect and accept your best...and nothing else... Basically you are perfect and you cannot have any foul ups. I am a crew trainer/MIT I have trained crew men, managers and GMs. And let me tell you. I tell them all take your wins with your losses. You won't make every order. Because you have hundreds of orders to make in 30 minutes. Accept that you won't always get every order right . But also While accepting your losses and wins reach for the Stars! Reach for the best still so that you are with out competition... So what if you miss out on a few 20-30 dollar orders and even hundreds...those individual orders that was messed up won't make or break you unless you let it. So you screwed up today. Do better tomorrow. So that customer could not be pleased and was unreasonable that's people... separate that from your business by offering them their money back or apologizing for the inconvenients. And even if they do buy From you while complaining. There's no money lost..accept that and move on. Take a breath. Play some music. Hang out at Starbucks or somewhere and do it over again better the next day. Keep your head up.

Thank you. You know I did offer a refund on the month she just purchased and she refused! She still wants me to do the work so I must be doing something right.

Precisely. Just know you will have some unreasonable people. Whose day may have gone bad for one reason or another and needs someone to blame for it since they cannot blame the person causing their bad day. I.e. YOU! Will take the blame. Just handle it in a professional manner. If they continue to be rude. You always have the right to refuse there order. Just a little side note for UNsavagable situations...stand your ground. Be polite. Enjoy your life. And Starbucks coffee is soooo good. Dont know if you drink it. lol lol All smiles keep your head up ms. Deedee

Shucks You inspired me to start blogging. I mean i litterally put my website on whole to make blogging my day job here along with helping others. I havent even started looking for referals yet. Trying to find some cofindence there. But as soon as i get the confindence up to throw my website out there and say HI WORLD! HERE I AM. LOOK AT ME. Ill be sending thanks to several people here...Keep your head up. No low nods you not looking down to see if your shoes are pretty or not. This is work and when you work they tends to get dirty. lol lol All smiles

I have not had this experience so all I can say is to think of the words in a song that says Accent the positive and eliminate the negative".
I sue hope you can

Thank you. After a good nights sleep I do feel better.

I really feel for you and yes Burn out is real. I went through it about 2 years ago and didn't listen to the signs or act on them. Struggling on without giving yourself time to heal will result in some kind of intervention. I ended up with a nervous breakdown and a two week hospital stay. Do not go there. I read others comments and your replies. Being emotionally driven is hard because we do take things personally. Give yourself permission to cry, feel angry or anything else you might feel. Have a break and try to put the silly customer in the F... it bucket xx I put a lot of that stuff in there now. I also now know the signs that I need to take a step back.
Sending you warm wishes that you will take your foot off the accelerator for a bit. It's okay not to run at full pelt all the time.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Thank you so much, Karen, I do love the idea of a F..it Bucket :) Sadly, I need to continue working with this person for at least another month, so will do only what I need to and take time for myself when I can. I did just take two days away but it wasn't enough (especially with FB Messenger blaring at me the whole time).

Burnout is rarely the product of a single event, but something that builds up over time. Review your life over the past several months. Are you getting enough rest? Are you eating properly? Are you exercising? Are you putting off important activities because of other important activities? (Prioritizing) Are you missing out on fun or family because of work? Only you can answer these questions.

Secondly, try to put the event into perspective. This is one event, it is not your entire life. I understand the hurt that comes when something you put your heart and soul into gets criticized or rejected. The criticism may be a result of something going on in the client's life and may have nothing to do with your work. That may not be fair, but that is life.

Talk to your client and listen. What is their concern? Can you fix it? Review your work as objectively as possible. If there is a flaw, count it as a lesson learned and move on. If the work is good, you may need to review your relationship with this client. If the client is toxic, fire them. No client is worth the ruining your health. Make no mistake, burnout can kill you. If you are not trusting your own judgment, if you have trusted colleagues who understand your niche, have one or more of them review your work and give an opinion.

Rember you will get through this. Take a mental vacation. Read a book, go to the lake, park, museum, whatever feeds your soul. Help someone who can't help back. Things like these have been known to alleviate depression. If the depression persists, see your doctor. Your body is trying to tell you something.

I wish you well and much success in every area of life.

Thank you so much. Yes, I realise that I allow things to snowball before having a reaction. So yes, it's a culmination of a variety of things, I think this one client just tipped me over the edge.

I left my previous job 2 years ago due to burn out. Made a sea change and have been relatively happy in my current job, but the added pressure of getting my Social Media Management Biz to thrive has certainly added a lot more pressure.

You will always have negativity. When you are selling a product or service you will always have customers that will not be happy. Remember, at least 5% of your customers cannot be pleased. All you can do is your best - remember this at all times.

Thanks for the reminder :)

Approach it preemptively Dee. Narrow down and eliminate many of the brightshinyobjects that rob your focus to empower your energy!

Hi! DeeDee289,
I do respect your trust in WA community and courage to share your burnout experience, which is not uncommon, but a part of life. Yet, just sense its bitterness and reject its burnout.

How? To address this, let us look at what we do in life. Known to common sense, technically, life is a process of managing a long list of relationships, and its success or failure will decide if we will be happy or not.

To succeed in what we do, we have to do something correctly; the process of doing something correctly always consists of two steps - first, the ability of decision-making, and second, that of action-taking; if these 2 steps are okay, we will succeed; if not, we fail.

Where and how this ability may come from? You are welcome to http://formefirst.com/eMagicPowerUHL.html.

Remember: sweet talk and sympathy have never really helped people although people love to hear them, and empathy to realize and accept the facts and truth of life plus action at a right time in a right way will make a real difference in our life. We do not have other better choices, do we?

With what I discussed in mind, I do believe what you have felt will timely melt away and move on your success ahead of you.

What I just said may not fit political correctness, but I am sure that is what you need to hear. I am not trying to be rude but to be true with my heart with you.

Best wish for your health and success,

James

What a great article, James. You certainly have a way with words and these I needed to hear right now. Thank you :)

Hi! DeeDee289,
If you took what I elaborated seriously and implement those into realistic daily life, in time, your perspective of life will change toward realistic richness.

Besides, remember: The best friend is ourselves; many people have a lot of friends, but they are still lonely; some do not have many friends, but they do well contend with the odds of daily life.

Well, I hope you have felt better in time and move on.

Best wish for health and success,

James

Yes, burnout is very real and I see it all the time as well as personally dealt with. I usually step back, take a small break maybe 2-3 days and get away from all of it. Don't think about it and try doing something completely for yourself.Try not to dwell on any negativity and wait til your positive self comes around and says let's hit it again and better than before. You can't let your feelings tear you down when it involves business. If you have trouble separating that, try asking a relative or close friend to help you with an objective view. I'm not saying this works for everyone, but it sure helps me and I've seen it help others. Good luck.

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate your help.

You are very welcome. Good Luck with your re-set.

You are creating an emotional response to a business decision. Your client has made a business decision - rightly or wrongly. You are reacting emotionally. It is not personal

Yeah, you're right. But I have been feeling really down about everything business related lately, this probably tipped me over the edge.

That is why a different mindset is needed. if you don't control your emotions - they will control you .Dean is right take a step back

Thank you. I've always been an emotional person, so that probably doesn't help.

Sadly no. I would recommend that if you want long term real change you enrol in a mindfulness class. You need to put your thoughts firmly in the now. The past and the future don't count. Many people waste so much of their lives worrying about the past and the future.

Be patient DeeDee. You should get an email when the replays become available.

Haha, just as I was leaving the house then :)

You can watch it now :)

It's available now! It's usually 24 hours later when they're made available :)

I've signed up to Adsense and have some ads already on my website. I have a couple other websites which are completely unrelated, so would I need to sign up to separate Adsense

How you going with AdSense? I know they pay out but they are often so intrusive and ugly. I'm on the fence. Are they working for you in a money sense?

No sales yet :( And yes, ugly!

Best advice on here - NEVER click on ads on your own site. Google will know and ban you forever from AdSense.

You'll see their default ads until you prove that you get enough traffic to warrant getting ads that might actually get a click. You can't change that. The ads are controlled by Google algorithms.

Oooh, really? Good to know. But how would they know it's me. FYI I have a (not sure of the correct wording) roaming IP address.

Google's algorithms go way beyond just IP address identification. That's why they are so good at remarketing to users; they know way more about you then you'd ever imagine and can identify exactly who you are in a heartbeat.

An ad is like swatting a fly with one stroke, but attempting to swat several flies with one swat costs extra efforts, but does not ensure commensurate number of dead flies (figuratively speaking.)

Ok?

What I'm trying to achieve here is ads related to website setup on one website (eg hosting etc), health and wellness type ads on the others but on the others I am still getting the original ads. How do I change this?

No. It is only you that are seeing those specific ads. It is on your browser search history. (And don't click on those ads). Other people see different types of ads, different from what you are seeing, based on their own search history recorded in their own browsers.

If you wanna know how those ads really look like, visit your other site with your Google account logged out. Or, if you are using Google Chrome, press CTRL + Shift + N to open Chrome browser incognito. Since you are now anonymously browsing your own site, Google might display a different type of ads in your site and you will see how it will look like.

It happened to me. My brother searched for marble stones using my Chrome browser and on the following day, all the sites I visit (mine included) Google is displaying to me ads about marbles!

I get it now, thank you so much. I did try the incognito browsing but still not seeing the ads I hoped would be showing. But I will reassess in a couple of weeks :)

You only have one Adsense account but you can create Ad Units for your different sites.

When you open your account at Adsense you create each Ad Units for each site to get the codes of your Ads.

I've done this but I'm getting the same type of ads on the other website which is what I'm trying to avoid.

I think we can just have two different Ads for each site.

A full GA explanation here Dee. You can do this! https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/65063

No, doesn't answer my question.

Yes, I am running Adsense on 3 sites.

I mean you can run it on the other sites. You keep the one account.

But since the sites are completely unrelated I don't want hosting ads (for example) on a health and wellness site. So do I need another account?

Adsense usually advertises what the viewer has been looking at. If you go to Amazon and look at printers, then go to a news site that has Adsense it will have printers advertised. Try it out and you will see.

Thank you, I had no idea this was how it works. But now I understand :)

Hey Dee,

Check your Adsense account to see if there is an option to add sites ... at least that would be my guess.

I've added my other websites but they are getting the same ads. I want completely different ads on the other websites.

No. You can use the same account for everything related to Google including Adsense. I have several websites on the same Adsense account.

Having one account means you reach the payout threshold quickly.

But since the sites are completely unrelated I don't want hosting ads (for example) on a health and wellness site. So do I need another account?

No. Adsense automatically chooses the right ads for each page depending on the content on that page and your reader's search habits. I will see totally different ads than you will see because Google tracks every move I make on the internet. They know what I've been looking at on Ebay and Amazon. They know everything about me. That's why it's adSENSE.

I get that but that isn't what's happening here. So, correct me if I'm wrong - do I allow ads for Health and hope that health ads don't show on my Virtual Assistant website?

At the moment I'm getting ads for hosting on my health and wellness site which isn't what I want.

That's because YOU are interested in hosting. Google knows what you are interested in and shows you ads that it thinks you will click on. I will see totally different ads.

Allow Adsense to choose the ads. They know what they're doing.

Oh gosh, really? I absolutely did not know that and thank you so much for taking the time to explain it :)
