No Dumb Question 1

Hi to All,

Even though I have been a member since the beginning of the year, I still consider myself a newbie as I don't have a functioning website yet. I'm active in the community, reading and responding to member's blogs. However, I still feel like there are a lot of my questions that haven't been addressed in the blogs or training, or are confusing and unclear, so I am just going to put aside my fear of sounded stupid and ask them. Hopefully this will help me move forward. In addition, I want to help other new members so I'm turning these questions into blogs to get people's insights.

No Dumb Question #1

(ok, ok, I lied...it's a bunch of questions but all about the same topic):

How do I find and connect to member's website? Is there a link on each of our profile pages to do this? Is it automatically put there by WA or does the member need to set up a link. I've search high and low, I can't find links. I know on the right side there are links to Posts and where they can be Followed... but no website links.

Members have included their links in various posts, etc, so I have seen some members sites but I'd love to see everyone's. Not to copy but to learn. It is helpful to see how the training is implemented. Then again, I've read that we are not suppose to promote our own sites. If that is so, why do some people do?

So bottom line...is there a place to link to a member's site? Are we allowed to share our webiste link to members? Does it have to be in the context of training? Shouldn't our websites be automatically available?

I'd love to know how other members feel about this, so please feel free to "like" and comment.

All the best,

Debbie

What they said Ditto

Hi Debbie

Thank you for asking this "Dumb Question" as you know there is no such thing Hahahaha !!!
I have learned something by this as many that responded said they have their url's at the bottom of their profile pages, I never thought or knew of this little unwritten rule, so I will take a page out of their books and do the same.

Thank you Debbie, all the best with developing your website.

Gary

Glad it helped
It clarified things for me too. Thanks for stopping by. Debbie

Great stuff

Debbie, just go to the bottom right of each member's Profile page. That's the place where you will find member's websites - as those who currently have them post their links in that location.

Click on my name, and scroll down to the bottom right of the page, you will see the link there.

We all not only are allowed to, but are ENCOURAGED to post our websites on our profile page. We can even post a photo image of our logo if we want to.

Go there and try it out!

The perfect, complete answer. Thank you!

You're absolutely right...there are no dumb questions! I wondered this myself until I saw how it was done on other members' profiles. I've even listed all my social media URLs too. There is SO much help available here on WA. I think half the battle is learning to ask...which you did. Wishing you all the best.

Thank you...I hope more members provide their links.

I hope so too, Debbie. Looking at the websites of others has been extremely helpful to me.

This link may offer some guidance as well:

Thank you. I'll read that again. I guess I need to hear things a couple times.

Hey Debbie!

Everyone has the option of adding their websites to their profile page. I didn't add my site to my profile page until months after I developed it, simply because it was such a mess, I was too embarrassed.

It's my understanding that based on the Spam Rules, you cannot promote your own site on this platform. If anyone is looking to receive comments for a blog post on their site or want general site feedback, they should use the Site Rubix.

Hope that helps a bit, Debbie.

Gret question/s Debbie, I have been wondering the same things myself. Particularly about the self-promotion part.

You have helped me a lot. thank you.

Sharon

Thank you for reading and commenting.

You need to put them on your profile yourself.

So I assume that's OK to do. Why wouldn't everyone do this. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I was thinking about this too. I don't know off any place on WA were we could place our links except on SiteFeedback. But I don't want to have to make any comments. Just would like go through some sites and learn.

Exactly. That's why I asked the question. I bet a lot of members learn in this manner. Thanks for your comment.

I just checked what Kaju said. Actually he is right. If you go to your profile, scroll down. On the right side you will see the title "Follow Me on" and below a button called "Add Links". Insert your site address there.

Thanks. Just what I needed.
