Affiliate Analogy Continues….

K is for Kindred Spirit

I’m taking some creative liberty with today’s blog and veering away from presenting an analogy. I can’t compare Wealthy Affiliate to a Kindred Spirit because it IS a Kindred Spirit to me. Its core principals and attitudes of its members are so similar to my own. This was a huge surprise to me, as I certainly didn’t expect to find this in an online teaching tool for Affiliate Marketing. Let me try to explain what I mean.

In the Beginning

As most of you, I joined WA to learn a skill. I needed some direction to develop an online business and Affiliate Marketing caught my interest. Up to this point, I was not active on any of the social media sites and I must admit I thought of them as a bit phony. How could you be “friends” with someone you have never really met? How could you “like” a total stranger? Well that opinion changed from the moment I signed up and received my welcoming message from Kyle. He was so genuine and really seemed to want to help me. This continued with all the welcoming messages I received from other members. I felt an immediate connection to everyone. It wasn’t at all uncomfortable or difficult to start responding to people, and as of today I follow and am being followed by 963 members. I don’t even know how that happened!

From the business side of things, I can make the connection. It makes sense. We all have similar goals and face the same technical challenges in building our online business. WA certainly provides the training and support for that. That is really all I expected from WA…a bunch of geeks who spent a lot of time on computers. Boy was I wrong!

People behind the Faces

I can honestly say once I really started interacting with the members, my life changed. I felt more connected to people and the world than ever before. The amazing thing is that all of you are just like me….Kindred Spirits. There are bits of pieces in myself that I find in each of you. It can be age, specific goals, attitudes, health challenges, philosophy, and so much more. It is so impressive how people reach out and share whatever they think will benefit someone. The wisdom that WA members share is quite impressive. So many people have sent me a PM with suggestions on health, which is certainly one of my challenges. Just yesterday, I put out a simple question on a technical problem I was having with my computer. I immediately received a half dozen suggestions and was able to fix the problem and move on. In an office setting, co-workers are often too busy to help. I never expected to find such courage, strength, and kindness on the internet.

As Kyle and others teach, the more open and honest our website content is, the more readers we will attract. So, although this is business, the more personal we make it, the more success we will achieve.

If you are using WA simply as a business tool, you are missing out on a lot of the benefits. Business is personal and WA proves it! Make the connection.
