D is for Diets

Yes, I know, I have talked about diets and weight issues in other posts, but it is such a big part of my world, it warrants more discussion.

Food is My Comfort

Food…..just the thought of it puts a smile on my face. All my happy memories growing up revolve around our dinners together. Even today, the best times with friends and family center around food. I’m full-blooded Italian so that explains a lot. Up until I was about 7 years old, I was a picky eater. The only thing I liked was macaroni and butter, which Mom gladly made for me most nights. She showed her love by the care she put into preparing her meals. If we didn’t have seconds, her feelings were hurt.

I didn’t have a weight problem until my adult years, when I became less active. I also became an emotional eater ---feeding each emotion with my favorite recipes that reminded me of home. For most of my adult years, I was a yo-yo dieter. I’d lose and gain the same 15 pounds over and over again. I tried just about every diet available…Atkins, SlimFast, NutriSystem, Medifast, Jenny Craig, and Weight Watchers. I have to admit, I lost the weight on all of them. As long as I followed the program, it worked. As soon as I stopped and went back to old habits, the extra pounds returned.

Success at Last

Weight Watchers was my favorite and where I had the most lasting success. Why? Because of the support they offered. We were held accountable by having to weigh in each week. Those weekly meetings gave us so much encouragement. The members became like family to me and we could talk about all the challenges we faced each week and the solutions to overcoming them. Plus, it wasn’t just losing weight. It was about creating a new lifestyle for ourselves….one where we were more active and confident.

Wealthy Affiliate is the Weight Watchers of the online world. There are many programs that offer a way to make money online. If you follow the system presented, you can probably succeed. However, I’m confident WA is the one that will give me lasting results. Why? For the same reasons Weight Watchers did. Support and No Quick Fixes. This community is what keeps me motivated to keep going. Many of you are my friends and I care about your success. WA offers all the technical support I need. Whenever an issue comes up that I need to solve, someone has experienced the same thing and can offer solutions. WA is not only helping me build and monetize a website, but it is helping me create a new lifestyle for myself. It can do the same for you!
