I am woundering what is best. Having a bilingual English/French website or 2 seperated websites??

Thanks

Absolutely.

Depending your audience and who | what you are marketing to? Does location matters? Is your business more dependent on local marketing.

You may follow up on below resource

https://wpml.org/community/2018/07/multilingual-business-website/

Translators are not reliable, unless you do all the writing simultaneously...

Better go for the language that suits you best and target local

👍

I asked the same question at the beginning and the answer was "no, it's better to have two separate websites than one in two languages". So I am following the advice starting the first one in English and the next will be in Serbian.

It seems that it would be very difficult to manage two different websites in the same niche using two different languages. Since websites are global you may get several visitors from your country anyway. I would try a translation plugin though the quality may not be ideal before creating a second website for language purposes.

From what I've seen, the functionality of many of the different translators out there isn't the best. They tend to get lots of context wrong. So to have a website with a translator button that simply translates all the on-screen text may be tough.

Creating 2 websites, each with its own audience and each in a different language would be doable. I'd just imagine it to be very time consuming.

I'd start with one first and research your options. Maybe you can find something workable.

My mother tong is French and I can write in English but not good enough to do good and rich text, so I will use a Freelancer on Fiverr to translate my Posts. So for me. it can be quite easy because I will do the French version myself. I would get a choice of language on the top right corner, like many sites do and have. My intention was not to use a kind of translator.

But I understand that for a mater of audience and efficiency, it could be better to have 2 seperated websites.

Thanks Eric

No prob!

Like your comment here.
So my first goal is to get a community of Japanese knife fans.

It's right on!

Don't focus on suppliers and product reviews yet. Talk about knives in general, related issues, Guides, how to, definitions. Demonstrate you want your site to be an authority in the subject.,

We would agree that Kyles video may be of great help to you.

Do not miss Kyle.s latest training Good luck
👍

remeber you are creating a site that is helping people who are looking for information on japanese knives....
what questions would you ask....
go google them to see if others are asking the same question...
then create a post about it ....
how to care for your....
how to store your.....
what to use your .... for...
and you can do this for all the different types of knives...
and then about the quality of the knives
sharpening the knives
so there is tons of content you can write without even doing a review....
it is all about getting that know, like and trust factor from visitors...
and if nothing else
if you get tons of visitors you could make up your own ads and place them into your posts to get the sales....
but that is way off into the future...
get 40-50 posts on there to start with...
good luck
phil

So from what I understand my site purpose is to inform people on different aspects of japanese Knives and eventually I will put ads within the text or page. So my first goal is to get a community of japanese knife fans.

Thanks Phil

yep you've got it sussed....
be helpful and others will return your help....
follow the training for selecting keywords and writing articles and create a lot of them...

You ought to discuss an aspect of Japanese knives to a qualified group of people who would be your target audience..

Example
Japanese knives techniques for beginners.

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

I would highly recommend following up on the OEC core training going forward Ticking checklists bottom of lessons, tasks and activities asked of you to complete in order to set up properly and guide you through the process.

Hello,
I am a bit confused on my niche selection because it is quite important in the following steps. Once your niche is established then you have to choose your Domain Nam

In the very beginning because there is a lot to learn about doing a website, we would recommend you choose the niche that you are most passionate about, know the most about, know how to solve its problems and want to help people. The reason being you will be writing original content to help a targeted group of people, Which of your niches do you feel best fits that description for you. If you don't know a lot or have much experience you can learn. It just takes more time. But passion is key.

Who do you envision helping and how?

My thinking, when I first got started, was to choose a niche that I knew really well and enjoyed a lot. That way, I might have problems applying what I was learning, but content for my niche would not be difficult. If you know crypto well and enjoy that subject, it might be a good niche to start with.

Hi - the first thing to remember is that you will be expected to write a lot of content on your chosen niche, everything original, nothing copied and pasted.

At least 2 or 3 articles per week, but preferably more. And a niche is not a product, it is a subject you can help a specific audience with

Therefore, it makes sense that it should be a subject you are genuinely interested in and have some knowledge of, or at the very least, would enjoy researching.

Hi Daniel, great question and you're completely correct. Choosing a niche is a big step! First and foremost we always suggest that folks build their business around a niche that is interesting and where you are willing to research and write about. There is room for a new website in every niche though, so try to ignore what you think may be competitive niches. You will carve out your own space in the niche.

Have a look into these ideas and see what kind of products and services you could recommend on your site. Knives...you could start with Japanese, but expand later to many kinds and create an entire website around different kinds of knives. Kitchen Knives, hunting knives, utility knives. There are so many different types you can choose from and you can review all kinds of things from materials, origin, to usability, to cost and performance. I have not looked into the knife affiliate programs out there, but perhaps there are many?

All of your ideas seem interesting though, but do some research and see what kinds of commissions you can earn. I know what knives cost as I collect Japanese kitchen knives - there may be some good sized commissions available.

Now that you have some ideas - look at what you can sell and earn, what you can recommend, how you might expand in the future etc.

Keep us informed with what you decide or whether you have more questions!

I have been running my sharpenning and japanese knives business for 5 years now, I do sell my own brand of japanese knives Dulkuri Knives. So, for sure, it will be easy for me to write on that subject and with the Covid (just found that I am having it this morning), lots of people started doing more cooking at home and discover a passion. Good japanes knives are popular theses days because people want to have good kitchen knives to do their recipes.

Found a site that have an affiliate program with 10% commission, 30 days with an average sale of 200$. Zwilling have one too but they don't give any detail on it. I send them an email. I can also talk about cooking courses because there is good affiliate program in that niche with 50% commission.

If I want to get good revenu, I will need to get a larger niche which will include Japanaese knives and cooking courses but they combine well together.

On top of my knoledge with japanese knives, I like cooking so it fits well with me.

Does it looks good for you?

Regards
Daniel

You need aim for ONE focused niche with a specific group of people, I'd go with what's best resonates with me and i know lots about, can create original succinct content worthy my visitors attention.
