Can I turn this lemon into lemonade?

Today as I was entering a highway from an entrance ramp, I hit a block (perhaps construction material) and it damaged the underneath of the car. No injuries, which is good.

Had the car towed and have learned that a new transmission is required with a cost of $550.00. It is covered by insurance so I have to pay the deductible only.

I am trying to see the good in this as I always do.

Any suggestions?

After the stress settles you will know what the positive side is. As you stated, you always do. Also as you stated, no injuries. You already have the right mind set.
Remember things can always be worse than they are. Just dont comcentrate on the worse things. Only the good.

I hate when random things happen and suddenly you're faced with paying money unexpectedly and the time and aggravation of dealing with getting it fixed. I try not to sweat the little stuff though, just not worth the energy.

As others have said, no one was hurt, you have insurance plus-you blogged about it here! Sorry your day started off troublesome, glad you are OK!

No one was hurt is the most important thing. I hit a deer a couple of years ago, and the cost of repairing the damage was way more than that. It could always be worse!!

GOOD POST

Glad to hear that no one was hurt.

You already have seen the good...it's all in your post. No one hurt and insurance covers it. Have a glass of lemonade and forget about it! Lol. Debbie

Glad no one was hurt.

I can relate, hate when stuff like that happens.

We got a new van in February and my wife got rear ended in May just after dropping off my 1 and 3 year old grand daughters.

Thankfully no one got hurt - the van sustained over $1,000 in damage. A case of a young driver going too fast on very wet road. His car was a write off. He was at fault, very apologetic, he paid for the repairs.

Our lemonade was:
i) it was just the wife in the van and the young driver in the other vehicle and no one got hurt.
ii) If we didn't have a trailer hitch, the van could have been a write off too.
iii) The young lads parents pitched in to help him pay and the accident clearly made him aware and taught him a valuable lesson in adjusting driving to weather conditions.

Write a post about the proliferation of construction debris and submit it to highway authorities or news media where this. Be careful of defamation territory though!

I am glad you are okay!

Susan
