Murphey's Law

Murphey's Law: Anything that can go wrong will.

I'm more a subscriber to the school of thought that suggests that if we think positively, Positive will follow.

Last holiday it seemed as though Murphy was determined to prove a point.

I woke up one morning and tried to fix a wire on the 20 inch TV that I also use as a monitor during work time and instead broke the screen. I was just trying to adjust the image which was coming through with a yellow tinge.

Not only did that mess up my work schedule for the day but of course that was not in the budget.

None the less my business could not be made to suffer so I bought a new monitor.

A few days before the 31st my boys' fan stopped working. Bad capacitor, according to their father. So off I went on the 31st to the shop for the fan that also wasn't in the budget.

I came back and stopped to open the door. As I took out my keys a paper fell out of my bag. I stopped to pick that up and to my shock out fell my phone and the screen broke. As you can imagine I was just so frustrated.

All of these things had been bought in the last 6-8 months. Ahhhhh!!!! The frustration.

Murphey's law? Well, I still don't subscribe.

Frustration can hamper production. So I was not about to give in.

I have come to realize that things usually fall apart just before the breakthrough. For that reason when everything seems to be working against you I believe it is time to press on.

I simply put clear tape over the screen and forget about it. Yes, I'll get it fixed but I decided right then that I can live with it for the moment. After all, it still works fine.

I decided I had had enough of these distractions. To me, distractions were exactly what they were.

A few things went wrong and I was forced to spend money where I wasn't planning to.

My simple idea. don't get stuck. Get up and press on.

It's my business and it wont run itself without me at the helm.

I have found it difficult to press through the difficulty but I made a promise to myself to write 1000 words daily and even though sometimes it's difficult I press on.

I complete the task.

My breakthrough is on the way.

So WA family have you ever found yourself in that dark place where everything seems to be going wrong and frustration is taking over?

How do you deal with it?

Hi Candy. Thank you for sharing. I like the way you dealt with the distractions as you correctly call them. If you can do something about the challenge, do it. If you can’t, don’t let it ruin your day. Just move on.
Like you, I would choose a positive outlook each time.

Hi,
Thank you. These things could have a real negative impact if we allow them to.

Glad to find a kindred spirit.

You have a great day.

Hi Candy

We all face obstacles or setbacks from time to time (that's life). This is how I deal with it:

1. DON'T PANIC! (Wisdom from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).

2. Pause to think about the situation. In fact, it is a good idea to "Sleep on it". I have found that what seem to be big problems one day invariably seem not so bad the next morning.

3. Take action and start (or resume) work. No matter how daunting a task, it will only get worse if we succumb to paralysis. On the other hand, working purposefully toward our goals will eventually overcome the problems.

Kind regards, Wazza

Wazza, these are some great tips on how to deal with problems.

Thank you.

Have a blessed night.

Occasionally run into Murphy, and find that usually happens when I am rushing, or juggling too many things at once. That's when I take a step back, evaluate and go forward, or not, bases on the individual situation.

Lately,I've been reevaluating my intent with my websites, assessing which one to focus on before moving to the next.

Rudy

Well that is a good tactic Rudy. I must say rushing is definitely the easiest way to run into that fellow.

Thanks, Candy!

wow, Candy! An awful lot happened in such a short amount of time! But you could look at it this way, it's all behind you now... only great things to come!
~Haze

Haze you are so right. I cant change it and I refuse to dwell on it so to the future I will look.

Candy Benn

Indeed Haze, as someone said we learn more from overcoming challenges than just steamrolling victories. The problem of course is that while facing the challenges it feels like the whole world is falling apart or against you

Too true Chris. It is to easy to get caught up in the weight of problems.

However, someone once told me that I am not in touch with my feelings. His reasons? I usually go from there is a problem to lets find a solution. I don't take enough time to grieve.

It is extremely rare for me to allow myself time to cry over spilt milk. When I do apparently 10 minutes is too short. Lol

Can't help it. I have the mind of a problem solver. Whatever the answer I come up with I am quick to try a solution. When it cannot be solved I take that lemon and make lemonade.

Hi Candy,
Murphy's law can get nasty. Sorry to hear you were affected by it.
Unfortunately, those dark places are part of life. We will never know about the light if we have not experienced the dark.

You are a winner Candy and things will get better

All the best,
Michael

They absolutely must Michael, otherwise I'd have to give Mr. Murphy some credit and I refuse to give him room. 😁

Candy Benn

You are the best Candy

Thank you, Michael.
