A Great Reason To Write Longer Posts
Bearing in mind that your articles should provide value here is one great reason why you should write more detailed posts:
Get more traffic than the competition even when you don't rank number 1.
When We Fail To Get The Top Post
So you failed to grab the most coveted spot, ranking number 1 on page 1. Do you know that you can still get more traffic than number 1?
Yes, you do this by writing more. Well not just writing anything old thing. Stick to quality writing but ensure you cover all the bases. Write about as many related areas as possible.
In giving more value you will ensure that you rank for more keywords too. This is where your extra traffic will come from.
Additionally, it is a good idea to check to see what keywords your top competitors are ranking for and try to add a few of these as seamlessly as possible in your article.
Always remember content is king, so write well and write consistently.
Be sure to like and comment. Let me know what you think of this one.

A good post Candy,
They say the sweet spot is between 1200 and 1800 words. If it is longer, that is ok too.
Provided it stays on topic and provides useful information.
According to a study by Microsoft, the average attention span of a human is 8 seconds, which is less than the average attention span of a goldfish.
The point is, most of your target audience won’t have the attention span to read your entire blog post.
To retain their attention throughout your blog post, add sub-headings to allow them to skim read your post.
Besides this, sub-headings are also a good place to naturally add more of your target keywords.
Michael.
Michael, I agree with you.
The attention span of the reader has to be taken into consideration.
Another point is that most people are reading on their mobile devices and while on the go.
You have to present your content to grab their attention.
Thank you so much for sharing.

The best caveat is that it needs to remain quality content. I've sadly seen some people just write words that almost have no meaning, just for word count.
Content is king for sure, but it must be quality content.
I couldn't agree more Jeannine.

Candy, you are spot on here!
It is not so much about landing the #1 Goole spot but rather writing sufficient QUALITY CONTENT.
Michael sums it up really well below and I agree with him.
The "sweet spot" is somewhere between 1,200 - 1,800 words.
That seems to be working well for me also.
Thank you for a good blog post.
