Internet Speeds around the Globe

In this the 21st century, you would expect internet speeds to be ultra fast.

In China, I am lucky as the internet system here is optic fibre, the downside in China is the government control, or as it is known the Great Fire Wall of China.

The Chinese government watches and controls all internet traffic.

Does this affect me absolutely, how do I deal with it?

I circumvent the system by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) this opens a secure channel to a server in another location.

Using a VPN gives me access to some ultra fast locations, I prefer to use Singapore or Hong Kong two of the free'st economies on the planet. The governments of these countries are allowing almost unlimited internet access with no or limited government control.

Speeds I get through VPN

Singapore 104.0 Mbps

Hong Kong 95.82Mbps

South Korea 78.58Mbps

Japan 67.83Mbps

Countries like Australia and New Zealand are currently upgrading their national communications systems to Optic Fibre.

I have been actively involved in the construction of both Projects, in Aust and NZ. Australia has the National Broadband Network (NBN) and New Zealand the Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB). Both countries are lining their communication networks to be equal to the likes of Singapore and Hong Kong.

Singapore currently the world's number 1 and Hong Kong follows as the top 2 in internet speeds, according to netindex.com. http://www.netindex.com/download/allcountries/ Why not check the speed for your country!

What is your Speed?

There are many VPN providers available; I use vyprvpn by Golden Frog https://www.goldenfrog.com/vyprvpn who is one of the oldest and top VPN providers available. Being based out of Switzerland, they are located in a stable, secure country and always locate their host servers in stable countries with locations having the fastest service.

I have used many VPN's over the years and have found vypr to be the fastest and most secure especially when going through the Great Fire Wall of China!

China is constantly changing the rules and searches out VPN's and blocks them vypr has been blocked, the good thing is they have servers around the globe and quickly change their counter blocking rules.

The world of internet is changing fast, and our latest gadgets are made to work best and can handle ultra-fast speeds.

VPN can give you access to Ultra-Fast speeds and offers almost impenetrable online security.

If your Country is still in the backwaters offering slow internet service, I recommend trying a free VPN trial.

So, I am lucky to be born in Singapore, lol.:)
Thank you!!

Yes Jewel, I am jealous, fastest internet and one of the most, free and growing markets in the world. :-)

Ha...ha... then come and reside in Singapore ... just kidding ... to de-stress. lol. :)

On my way

Thanks.

Thank you. This is so important to marketers.

I live in rural Scotland UK, speeds up to 5mbps with no sign of optic fibre coming this way in the near future. I still remember dial up and 5mbps feels fast to me!

How do you do it Kathy, I would be going round the bend with slow speeds. Can you get your ISP via Satellite? Satellite is often considerably faster not sure of the cost in Scotland though.

Way to expensive for satellite, I did look into it. The funny thing is, becasue I've never had super fast speed I don't miss it, what I have is a BIG improvement on dial up!

I am glad it works for you, its obviously good enough as we see regular input at WA from you. :-)

Lol, yes, I love my "speedy" 5mbps!
