You can make your own choice as a premium member whether or not to host here. I personally don't because I had all my websites set up before wealthy affiliate's offered hosting. My hosting cost me $183 a month. So cost is certainly a factor.
You definitely want to own your own domain name because it is an asset. Your website is like real estate you can sell it.
If you host here and decide to leave as a premium member then you will have to have alternative hosting and transfer your site over. This is not difficult to do but you need to be aware of the fact you have to do it.
I would recommend even if you have someone else behind you making content and building a website that you go through the training. There are two types of training. Boot Camp is training to promote wealthy affiliate's and the general training is applicable for any niche.
At the end of the day your success level in any niche is totally dependent on how well you understand the problems in your niche. You need to be spending time on forums and on social media and connecting with people who have those problems.
