Hi, Everyone...

Where there is smoke, there is fire? Sometimes...

The stage is set for our viral recruiting campaign, ready to blow up starting tomorrow morning (if all tests go well today)...

It appears the second post I made (Stage 2) of this series has been hidden from members, a shame but who knows why...

In any case, here I will give you a general idea of what you can't see from the stage 2 post and update what the progress has been since yesterday.

Recap of Stage 2 Case Study Of A Viral Recruiting Contest

Yesterday I laid out in detail what the considerations were for planning a viral contest. In this case the intent was to gather CVs for potential employees for Thailand initially, but for other regions of the globe as well.

I discussed the intent, the dates, the prizes we decided to add, and the technical steps to get a contest in place. I did not go into great detail, but based on what I now know it is surprisingly easy to set up a viral campaign IF you have the right tools.

Beyond planning what the contest involves, on the technical side you have to:

(1) Plan on how to track people entering the contest.

(2) Watch for fraud (notifications if to many entrants are coming from one IP address).

(3) Set up legal and privacy pages.

(4) Create a contest rules pages.

(5) Include a disclaimer for Facebook if you plan on promoting the contest through their platform.

(6) Create a landing page, promotion posts for your blog(s), and social posts for the platforms you will promote the contest through, and then...

(7) Set up an autoresponder with messages emails for confirmation of entrant's opt-in and a follow-on thank you page (with social platform share options, plus having a link for submitting a CV/resume in this case)...

(8) As part of the contest rules planning, you will determine how the drawing will take place for the cash prize, how entrants will get notified when the people they shared the contest have also signed up, browser notifications (drop down messages) when referred people sign up, and email trigger notifications when new referrals are credited to them.

Today's Mission For The Viral Recruiting Contest

Today we are reviewing the pages created and the technical side of the contest (are all the links working, do the pages show well on laptops and mobile devices, notifications in browser and email working, etc.)

We will post the social announcements of the contests but they will be scheduled to go live. Plan B will be to start the contest one day later if we discover any issues that will keep us from going live at the scheduled time.

Problems We Have Experienced To Now

Because this is the first time we have done a viral campaign, there has been a learning curve. Here are some of the issues we faced:

(1) Deciding on an autoresponder to use. We have several options, and decided to start with the one that we have been using mostly, as our other options are relatively new to us and we wanted to go with what we know to decrease the chances of problems.

(2) Pages for the contest. We have a tool that creates landing pages and more, but were unable to get it to work well enough to get the job done. Murphy's Law says that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Rather than fight it, I took action.

Solution: I bought a domain, set up a website here using SiteRubix, installed a theme I own, and created our pages! Problem solved and we are up and ready (after some tweaks to the Landing Page)...This was done in a matter of hours!

(3) Familiarity With The Viral Tool. The tool is new to us, so just getting around to understand the capabilities and how to work with the tool took some time and training.

Bottom Line

We are ready to go live AFTER the tweaks and the checks are completed today. I will post updates on the status of the contest over the 3 weeks it is running, and provide a final status at the end of the contest.

Things like how many entrants and from what countries we received, how many referrals they had sign up under their share, just how many people we reached over the period, and how many CVs we get and from where..

My First Impression:

This is a tool that can help your affiliate marketing programs, and I will also be posting some training on this at some point. Many IM folks are under the impression that viral marketing falls into the "Too Hard To Do" category, and that is not the case.

Used properly, this method of gettiing attention to your brand, your website, and your promoted products can be extremely effective. It can quickly build a leads list for you, and best of all, it is done through the power of the social platforms, NOT from organic traffic or paid traffic.

I believe in ALL of you!

Cheers!

How did it go with your viral campaign Dave? I hope it worked as expected my friend.
Eugenio.

Hi, Eugenio!

My business partner has been in Thailand for the last couple of weeks and we have conducted interviews with I believe 8 people so far. No final selections yet, but I have confidence that we will get the right people...

Looking back at the contest, if we do it again, likely we will take a different approach, as this is a bit off the normal path to recruiting people (we wanted to build buzz also for the business)...

This past week has been very busy, as we expanded operations in Thailand as well, adding in an office and additional warehouse space for inventory and order fulfillment purposes...

Not only that, we have the special sales going on, so between everything together, the adding of people has been squeezed in...But because this is really a vital piece of the business going forward, we are being selective...

I have not been on WA much over the past week due to the real life business, should be back to normal in another week or so...Thanks for popping in...

BTW, the viral thing is a tool that can be used in so many ways, and is worth some time invested to set up campaigns for...Real happy with that aspect!

I hope that you are doing well during this sales period, and achieving the numbers you seek! We are not there yet, but plenty of time left to get ours!

Cheers!

Hi Dave:
I am just building my site and have no sales yet. But I am confident that they will come. I am also thinking of a couple more websites.
Your hard work is paying my friend.
If you ever need something translated into Spanish, I would be more than happy to help.
Best regards to you from México.
Eugenio.

You will do well, I have no doubt...

We may indeed tap into that language skill, Eugenio...

I would love to expand ops to Mexico, there are so many wonderful places there and the food...oh my gosh...To die for...

Take care my friend, and stay in touch!

Cheers!

Opening ops in México would be great. I am looking for that and totally interested mi amigo. My wife and sisters are great cooks.
Eugenio.
P.S. All images are mine and free to use my friend

Wow, what great pictures! Thanks for sharing them! Definitely will show to my bus partner, who is arriving from Thailand on Wednesday! : )

You are welcome Dave mi gran amigo.
Eugenio.
