Hi, Everyone...

Today marks the beginning of the shopping season, a festival (for me) of 5 holiday sales over the next 7 weeks where you and I have many opportunities to sell gobs and gobs of software, tools, services, and more to the many shoppers that are looking for the bargains that we aim to offer them!

Note: I am looking at this happy season as a seller, NOT a buyer...so should you!

That frame of mind provides a whole new meaning to "the holiday season," a traditionally very happy time of year for most people. Even for the people that may not be so happy, there are opportunities to make them happier...

How can we make that happen you ask? Easy...

Get them to buy our "stuff..."

BTW, Today's post is meant to be a quick read, a bit of a tongue-in-cheek take on the coming season, with just enough meat and humor to get your creative juices flowing so you can go out and conquer new territories, make inroads on that first million in sales (as an affiliate or as an seller of your own products), and get you motivated to do it starting today!

Let's get started...

---

Here is what is in store over the next 6 weeks:

I find it promising and exciting to be in this busy season, and this hope can hold true for you, dear reader, as well. As you look over the map I have laid out (in general terms) see how it can apply to any business, whether it is affiliate marketing, an offline business that you operate, or perhaps an e-commerce store...

First out of the shoot...

---

Veterans Day Sale...

- I have started this sale today, and have a 7-day special running where I am offering products that offer tremendous value for the money, and donating 10% to veteran's assistance organizations of all sales proceeds.

- This is a good move on several fronts. First it is the right thing to do, as I have been given so much over the years as a veteran, secondly there are needy families and individuals out there that will be helped, and of course, last but not least by any means, more importantly it will help my bottom line. It's all about the Benjamins ($), baby...(smile, this last bit is a joke!)

- This is perhaps my favorite sale of this season of sales, likely because of my military background, and also there is less hype and fake happiness associated with it as the others seem to be about. I really am a bit cynical about the rest, to be honest...

- They are all a bit too much about selling, selling, selling, whether you need something or not...All that selling and buying comes at a great cost to the environment, and let's be very honest here, people can do without most of this stuff, right?

- Of course they do need what I am selling...They also need what you may be promoting, you just have to let them know why they need it...The rest of the stuff out there on sale? Not so much need for that...

So, Nonetheless...

- By golly we are going to convince others to buy what we are selling or promoting - damn the water, who cares about plastic in the oceans, and I am not going to rake the forests in CA (WTH does THAT do anyway?) and neither are you, so let them burn (????) and they need to buy what I/you have right now...

- I am a business person, after all, so who cares hehe, right?...Be like me...

Idea: Focus on what matters, you catch my drift?

Hint: It's all about them "Benjamins" ($)...

Me: Really?

Anyway...hmmm...

Moving on...

- This first sale period is also a warm up and testing period to see what is working what is not. The bigger sale and opportunity is next up, and I want to have the best performing sales copy out there, the best converting deals available, and grab my little piece of the shopping season pie for my business and my wallet...

- You as an affiliate marketer can mirror all these thoughts and sales tactics, the only difference is that you are doing the promoting of items instead of actually taking all the rest of the steps like taking in payments, delivering products, etc.

- The job in that case is even easier, so you can focus on creating the content and copy that will convince people to buy what you promote. If you select popular items that people want and need, your job is going to be a lot easier.

- This first sale period is a trial balloon of sorts and the most ethical one (?) at that for me...But...I am running a business, like you are so we have to get busy...We have more people to "make happy..."

Next up...

---

Black Friday Sale

- As we all know, this is the time when shoppers pull out their wallets and credit cards, and cruise the internet looking for great deals (who wants to go to a mall and fight the crowds these days?).

- I plan on having my great deals out there right along with everyone else's (to include Wealthy Affiliate!). Whatever it is that you are promoting as an affiliate, I would do the same. 'Tis the season, as they say, right?

- I will extend this sale period from the days before the USA Thanksgiving holiday to the start of the next holiday made-up shopping sale (Cyber Monday)...After all, most people are not concerned with such details as dates of sales, are they?

Note 1: I am that greedy (not really), but yes...damn the turkey, who cares about football games (they are so commercialized, I hate that, don't you?), and I sure don't want to talk to that crazy uncle who is a lover of 45!

Note 2: At this point, I am already humming "Yo, Yo, Yo, to the Ho, Ho, Ho..." as I nod off from eating too much turkey, with images of dollars, that are dancing in my head...I faintly hear the chimes of cash registers ringing in the background (imagined?), bringing joy to my small heart..Holidays are so neat...Let's do this!

Remember...

- So much business is conducted during this Black Friday sale period that a lot of companies either make or break their entire year in this single sales period. They plan all year long to leverage the products and offers for the willing buyers...

- You can do the same, as a seller or as an affiliate. Look to see what others have done in seasons past, and emulate (and do it better!). This is your BIG chance to attain that sales goal, get qualified for the award of a trip (i.e. Las Vagas, anyone, hint, hint?), etc.

- No matter if you achieve ALL your goals, or just some (well done in either case, BTW), you still have MORE opportunities to turn it all around during this happy season....This is what I love about this time of year, there are so many chances to redeem yourself, or reinvent your sales pitch as may be indicated...

A season of joy indeed...

An aside follows (I am here to entertain you, so just a little funny here)...

I am on my way in this latest version of the holiday season journey, and I must check in with my mentor, which I do...Here is what my mentor whispers in my ear:

"Yes Dorothy, all you have to do is click your heels together to take it home (and plan well, plus work hard)...You are not a total failure yet, you have some more chances to show us just how much of a failure you really are!"

My thought: "My name is not Dorothy, what is he talking about?"

Note: Think "The Wizard of Oz" here although the mentor's name is "The Wizard of Odds!"

Okay, back to business...

Anyway...Yes there is more...

---

Cyber Monday

- Another opportunity and this is a sale period where I again will stretch the deals out for 2-3 days, this time on the days AFTER Monday. Why not add a "Cyber Tuesday," a "Cyber Wednesday"?

- Heck I will go for a "Cyber Thursday" too, whatever it takes! The users and losers out there will not know the difference. They need what you have, give it to them!

- Extending the days is the way we can tap into those people that may have missed out or are always looking to get the best price and wait so long that they always miss the window, any window...

- Since they can't seem to make up their minds, you need to give them more time...Tap into these people that can be on the edge or as some would say - the losers (we do not say that, even though I did a couple of paragraphs above, okay?)...

- By this time people have seen your brand and offers enough times too that they are more likely to take action when they know it is a good deal. You have overcome their doubts through touches via social posts, blog posts, perhaps some videos, and maybe even a live event or two...

- Depending on what you are selling or promoting, your digital products and softwares are the things to hit on, in addition to any physical products that have ANYTHING to do with the cyber world (I can think of many ways to leverage this!)...

- Even if what you have doesn't hit that cyber range of products, put your stuff on sale anyway. Everyone else is too, and we gotta hit the numbers for the year SOMEHOW! I have seen a lot of promotions out there that have nothing to do with Cyber-anything for this sale, so do not let that little detail stop you from promoting your offers.

An aside: Now a little humor to lighten things up (again) follows..

NOTE: If by now you are not happy and in the holiday spirit because sales are in the toilet, no problem, you have yet still MORE chances to pick yourself up and take a proverbial shower to cleanse that despair and odor of failure off of you...

Let's talk about them...

---

Ten (Or More?) Days Of Christmas

- This is yet another opportunity and one that Amazon created out of thin air (but I like their style, so am not averse to what they did). Perhaps they created a knock off of the song "12 Days of Christmas"?

- Clever devils...You can be just as clever...

- I will offer specials throughout the period for the products I am selling and you can too with your promotions.

- Throw in some flash sales like the big boys do...I am not so delusional that I think I will make the volume of sales that that the big players will, but then again, I don't need to, do I? Neither do you.

- Of course, by now you will want to emphasize the products that are selling like hot cakes from the earlier sales you have run over the weeks

For example...

- One year I could not keep up with orders for sunglasses (during a different season though) - not sure why but people were buying them from all over the globe, and by golly, I was delivering using a dropshipping model, so the money was in the bank prior to me buying and shipping any of them, homey!...

- These are the kiinds of hot sellers that you want to promote (not sunglasses though, again, they are for another season - Spring).

- People love good deals, and you just have to present it to them in a proper manner, and they will bite/buy. Whether you are selling your own stuff or following the affiliate marketing model, this holds true.

- You also might want to add in a mix of what is trending, what you know from other times of the year if it will fit and is working now too (i.e. selling), or maybe you just want to make a splash and offer something brand new...

- I would go with tried and true, but what do I know, I am not a gazillionaire and that word means nothing, like my opinion?... : )

Wait my readers, we are not done yet with the happy (?) shopping season, there is yet one FINAL shopping online shipping spree that can make your wallet dance with glee...

Curious? Stick around and read on...Like the reindeer in the holiday song, we will have you dashing through the snow...

Plus cruisin' to the bank in your new sports car that you made a down payment on/purchased with all the winning you are experiencing in this holiday period so you can have a look at that green ($) in your bank account before the year is out...

So last, but certainly NOT least we have this...

---

Pre-Christmas, Last Minute, and After Christmas Blowout

- The last opportunity to sell more stuff to people that may not need it before they get their party hats on, load up on booze, and drink their sorrows away while trying to forget the year that was...

- By this time you are likely exhausted, as you have been going full out for over a month already.

- Understandable, but this final sales push can make your day (season) a happy one, or make you wish you had done some work to grab this last opportunity to make SOMETHING for the year...

- Focus (or do not) on this sales pitch: What can make you feel better fast you loser? Buy from me, that is the trick! You got this!

- Likely the good and potential buyers for this sale are ones who are home alone watching the movie of the same name (Home Alone again this year?)...

- This sale is meant for these people. They can make themselves feel better by buying something, anything, they just need that shot of hope they get while buying.

- Psychologically that is what is going on, and who are you to argue?

- Get that payment gateway set up and take their money! Be there for these people...It's your civic duty (and you do have that new car payment to cover)...

- Seriously though, there is a set of people that will buy even at this late period of the holiday selling season, so you as a seller or as an affiliate need to keep getting your offers out to the public so every last person in your audience has that chance to make you happy (i.e. buy your stuff!)...

What Is Next?

- Once you have milked the season totally with this last sale period, you have earned some well-deserved time away from the laptop. Think of this as finishing the last mile in the marathon of "opportunities" that you have provided to everyone over the past 7 weeks...

My advice: Relax, you tycoon...

- You have made some very sad and pitiful people happy for a moment or two, and your bank account is full of money, so you are no longer sad either. It is a win-win deal.

- Perhaps you did push folks a bit to buy, but by golly they wanted it, didn't they? You were doing them a favor by taking all their money!

- So rest easy AFTER you get this final sale/promotion in the books.

- Look back and think how much good you have been doing for everyone over the weeks (especially for yourself!) and don't forget to give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back, too.

- All great leaders/sales people/grifters do this, especially the best ones ever.

- Ask them they will tell you...

- So yes, you earned this glory, you magnanimous "person!" Revel in the victory(ies) you have achieved over the past 7 weeks...

So what is next?

That is it, that is all there is, there is no more...It is only about winning. You got this...

You have done your damage on other people's wallet (and lives?) and your wallet is fat now...

The world is a better place (?) , you have done your part (?) to making things great again (?)...

Be proud and buy a hat maybe (a red one, fitting for the season?)...

You earned it...

Life is good...

Rest easy, my friend...rest easy...

In Closing...

This was a bit of real advice along with some humor and satire to get you fired up for the coming sales season. It really is the time of year that you can make people aware of the great deals out there, to include Wealthy Affiliate.

Plan ahead for them all, learn as you go and make corrections, and most of all, try to stay ethical with what you are selling or promoting through your angles and sales tactics. Burning the next door shop down might not be the best way to beat the competition!

Happy Selling, Everyone!

Know that you do not HAVE to "Crush It" (or crush the buyers, nor the competition) and people will still love you, unless you are a broke arse morally and financially but claim to be a billionaire (who does that anyway, right?)...

So my advice is to sell, but do so using principles and promote your products ethically, think about what you are doing! You do not have to sell your soul like some others out there have...

What do you think?

Are you ready to get out there and kill it (meaning getting sales with as little killing of trees, destroying clean water, coming up with stupid ideas like raking forests to prevent fires, and etc. as much as possible)?

Let me know in the comments below what YOU are doing this year for the holidays...Yo, Yo, Yo to the Ho, Ho, Ho...or something like that...Have fun and best of luck! This is a great time of the year!

Cheers!

Dave : )

Hi, KyleAnn!

I am glad that this info may have provided some ideas (and a grin or two)! We have to have a little fun while we work too!

Cheers!

Hi Dave good to see you.

Enjoyed the read and the coffee.

It is the selling season, like none other, for our bricks and mortar friends the opportunity to stock the coffers for those lean times.

For all of the online marketers the opportunity to explore and expand our delivery.

No matter what tribe, as you say making the transition to that selling mindset can be one of the best presents we can give ourselves.

Happy selling Dave.

Alex

Indeed, Alex...I wish the same for you (happy selling!) over the next 7 weeks! Cheers! Dave : )

Love how you started that out Dave - "it's long - get a coffee". Well I have a nice hot cup of breakfast tea so I'm ready to go now!

Awesome strategy and tips on all those opportunities Dave - thank you my friend!

Let's have a great selling season!

John 😁👍

Hi, John!

Thanks much...I had a lot of fun writing it, and really it is the best time of the year for us affiliate marketers (and anyone selling stuff!)...

I concur! Let's have a great selling season (and have a few laughs on the way too!)...

Cheers!

Great post, Dave. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you liked it, Joseph...Thanks for taking the time to add a comment! It will not be everyone's cup of tea I think, but that is okay...Cheers! Dave : )

Thanks Dave for concisely laying that out for me. There were a couple that you presented that I would've never thought of!

Jeff

Hi, Jeff...

You stopped by to read my rant for the day! Thanks for that! Between the satire and what passes for humor, there were some nuggets I tried to add, so I am glad you picked up on them!

Cheers!

I thoroughly enjoyed the post, Dave!

Jeff

Great! : )

Good Morning Dave,

There were parts of your post which made me smile and then suddenly I would be kind of lost.
I think that must be due to a difference in culture.
I liked the bit about helping the veterans. It seems they are not having it so nice lately.
I know that shopping can make you happy as it produces a little shot of those hormones but normally it is short-lived. The seller will be better off in most cases.
For all those who are into selling your post provides some good tips with a smile, well done.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi, Taetske!

Thanks for popping in and also for leaving the comment...Based on that, I went back through and added some clarification to some areas of the post. Very helpful...

I tried to hit on a lot of subjects with this post, there is so much going on at this time of year, and although sales are what we all want, there is much more than that to be considered?

Commercialism, Materialism, "Buy more" - ism, "Who cares about the future, it is about money now" - ism, etc. plus maybe just a little subtle shade on certain politicians too...

Anyway...I had fun with it...I do hope people get a little use too from the tips...

Cheers!
Dave : )

One has to keep it subtle Dave, this is not FB.
You are right, too much ism, one should skip or at least reduce it as in the end it is not what makes you happy.

All the best, Taetske

Hehe, yes you are right...I am pushing the border walls with this one maybe...Border walls just don't work because people like me cut through them...

It is all how you interpret the words I think...Really it is a great time of year to be promoting and selling stuff...No disputing that at all...

You know me so likely you will feel there may be a double or even triple entendre in some sections of the post...It might come through rather quickly to you...

I can always claim I don't recall what I said or wrote maybe as a defense should that be necessary?

Or just refuse to look at what I wrote and say it doesn't matter, I'm tired of getting beat up poor me, stop picking on me?

Kidding on all this, of course...

Bottom line is that I do think we can sell products responsibly, even if it all is a bit of a contrived period intended to sell more and more, and more under a false premise...

I like a simple lifestyle and this does not necessarily require a whole lot of things...Give me a nice sunset, a cold beer (or wine), and someone interesting to talk to...All is good...

Cheers!
Dave : )

Good afternoon Dave,

Walls are bad, that is a fact.

I once had a naughty dog, his name was Zahor. He would dig himself out from under the fence as he wanted to visit my neighbor. She had 4 lovely girls Zahor liked.

By the way, sunsets can be quite spectacular here and sitting on the patio in the pergola with a glass of wine looking west.....then a little later the small bats start flying.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Looks like paradise to me, Taetske...Sooooooo beautiful...Enjoy! Dave : )

Wonderful post, Dave, and funny too! I like it.

Seriously great tips for all of us! Lots to think about. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Michael

PS. I ain't raking those leaves either...

Thanks for popping through Michael...

This post will not be for everybody, there are a bunch of threads running through it that people may not see but they will feel...It may even be a bit uncomfortable for some...

But there are also some good tips for the season of sales too. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two great days to promote Wealthy Affiliate, for instance...

Cheers and glad to hear others will not rake leaves...

Dave : )

Great insight
Thanks
Tim

Thanks for popping through...Having a bit of fun with bits and pieces of truth added in...Cheers and I have followed you! Dave : )

Great Post
As a previous brick and Mortar Retailer....you hit the sales sequence on the mark.
Great insight
Tim

Yes, it is a crazy time of the year for retailers...Thanks for adding your thoughts into the mix, with that background you know exactly what this is all about! Cheers! Dave : )
