transferring hosting, am I forgetting anything else?

Last Update: June 04, 2019

I am thinking very seriously about transferring the hosting of my site to someone a bit cheaper than WA. I haven't written on my site for ages and it is just a waste of money if I am not utilising my membership. I struggle with motivation at the best of times and motivation to write for my site has been very hard, if not impossible to find ever since I started. I think I have been a member for about 4 years and in that time I have written a total of about 12 posts I think. This gives you a little idea on how unmotivated I have been.

These are the things I have thought about needing to make sure I transfer.

- website content

- the host I think I will use has word press so I can make a backup of my website and restore it to their servers.

Actually, I can't think of anything else that I would need to backup, what else am I overlooking that I need to make sure I save before I leave?

Dave,

I don't know anything about you or your site but something seems off here. If you're not motivated to work on it and haven't been for some time then maybe you should dig deeper into the reasons for that. It doesn't sounds like a hosting change is the biggest question/issue that you have,

Best wishes that you figure this out!

If you type 'move website from WA' into google, the 1st result after the Ads is on the marionblackonline website. A very detailed post is in there.

Don’t forget to back up and export any databases you may have - eg subscribers, members

Backup your website files AND database.

This little beauty will help you find training on how to do both of those things: BUT........... Why not just begin utilizing your membership? Your website is not going to spring into life just by hosting it elsewhere, and instead you will just cut off the community, support & training... Resources that will massively help you see success.

I had some motivation when I initially joined but then as time went on, with no results and I was pouring an awful lot of time into it, my motivation began to wane. I know that you don't start getting results for quite a while and have to do a fair bit of writing before you see any results but I just couldn't find the motivation to continue writing. I have stayed a member for so long as I was hoping that one day I would find the motivation to continue writing but I think that is a pipe dream, and not going to eventuate any time soon.

I am really disappointed in myself as I know this works, but I can't make that translate into my motivation to write.

Your “WHY” is not strong enough. Write down what an online income would mean to you, your family, etc... find your driving force - and the motivation will come in bucketloads once you figure it out.
