Your Opinion Please Ladies And Gentlemen
Like you, I’ve not met A LOT of people here in this wonderful community, naturally everyone is here for the same reason, to develop revenue streams through the medium of online marketing either through promoting WA or through their own niche.
So, everyone is going in the same direction together, but what I’ve found interesting through reading people’s profiles here is where they’ve come from (I don’t mean geographically), their journey.
Something I’ve noticed which does appear to be common ground to a degree is the amount of people here that are either elderly (so after retirement age) and / or have disabilies or disabilities in the family.
Here in the UK, we have what’s known as the CAB, Citizen’s Advice Bureau - I’ve used their services a couple of times over the year and the depth of experience the advisors have in mind boggling. This is a service open to anyone
We also have something called SilverLine which was founded by Esther Rantzen,the same person that founded ChildLine. SilverLine is there for Senior Citizens to be able to talk to someone on the phone 24/7 to help them come to terms with loneliness. Christmas time is histoircally a very xhallenging time for the eldelret
Here’s the thing…
What I’m considering is putting together a community (website) to act as a forum where these people can create topics, offer opinions and generally help point each other in the right direction for any support they require
A sort of WA without the business opportunity I guess
Now, I’ve already registered a SiteRubix Domain and have the basic concept in mind but want to know from people in the WA what you all think.
Note that I’ve not even considered branding WP Themes or anything else
All I do have in place is a domain name, and eligibiliy criteria which I’m putting at aged 65+ and / or disabled.

I think its a great idea, we all need help and or support to adjust through the different stages of life.

An interesting post Dave. If you can get some stats on people 65 and over that have a computer and an internet service that would be a clue as to the success of this idea. You have a wonderful and humanistic idea, but some older people are stubbornly resisting on line communications. They want to pick up the telephone and talk to someone. Now, we know that this is becoming harder to do. They get very frustrated because they can't get the kind of telephone service that was available in the past.
I have a 71 year old friend who is a prime example of this. The man simply refuses to learn about this medium but he's perfectly content to use me as his go between. I am helping him with his communications between Ecuador and the Czech Republic.
Us seniors here in WA are probably the exception, but I think it will continue to grow. I got an interest in this medium when I was about 50 years old. That's 20 years ago. So the younger generation coming along should be wired. I think there is a lot of growth potential with your idea. I don't pretend to know about the laws in the UK, but in the US you might be able to get a non profit status tax wise. This would enable you to pay a salary to people that work for the entity. They would of course be responsible for personal taxes on their salary. Do research. Best of luck. Bob
That does sound interesting, a lot of the most active members in the WA community are not from the U.S.
Honestly I would visit the site because I feel I'm playing catch up everyday of my life.
I need all the knowledge or help thereof that I can get.
