Chelsea FC Appoint Frank Lampard as Head Coach
So, today, the abosolute, or so it seems from the outside worst kept secret in English Football is over, because
Chelsea FC have Appointed Frank Lampard as their new head coachAppointed on a 3 year deal, following his successful debut season as a head coach, with English Football Championship side Derby County, in which he led them to the English Football Championship play off final, where they narrowly lost to Aston Villa, Lampard emerged as a very strong contender, once it became clear that Maurizzio Sarri ( the man Lampard Replaces) wanted to return to Italy
So Will Lampard Be Successful? That obviously remains to be seen, however what is clear, from his very first Press Conference as Derby Boss, he is straight talking, so the players will know what is required of them.
Equally and what matters most to most Blues fans... He is a serial winner and all time Chelsea Top Goalscorer, before he finally hing up his boots
Though talks have been ongoing for a while between both parties, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, is a fan of the short term quick fix solution, which at this current time is in a funny situation, given Chelsea's transfer ban and their obvious lack of chances for youth players, so Frank Lampard will need time and part of his success at Derby was due to blooding Chelsea loanees such as Mason Mount in his team
So, going back to the bridge, at this time, means that the Chelsea youth players might have more of a chance under him
Players such as Callum Hudson Odoi, Ruben Loftus Cheek and Ethan Ampadu, might have more of a chance now
What Will Be His First Season Target?
That has to be qualification for the Eurpean Champions League, which given his talent for management, should be easy to achieve. As for the Premiership title... Well at this time and given that both Man City and Liverpool, are ahead of the blues in terms of the squad and money spent on it, closing the gap on both, will be another priority, so top 4 is a realistic ambition and cup success as well, on all fronts, that being
FA Cup
League Cup
Carabao Cup
And obviously though, they are already Europa League Holders, they won't be competing in this season, because as winners of that title, they automatically qualify for the Champions League, until or unless they knocked out of that in which case they might revert back to the Europa League
However, with Lamps in charge and the winning mentality he will introduce, consider that route a no no
Hazard Gone, Kovacic arrived, Higuain not retained, he in herits a very strong squad, so it will be interesting to see how the season develops with him
Man Utd Away.... To Start!
As ironies go his first premier ship match, pitched Chelsea away to Man Utd, who themselves, only recently appointed one of their former legends Ole Gunnar Solskajer as permanent manager, so will we see the same new manager bounce at Chelsea, we saw at United on his arrival.
Either way, it promises to be a better season than last season for Chelsea supporters

Very interesting looking forward to beating Chelsea twice this season instead of just once.
Long time Wolves follower.
A pity he didn't stay the course and stay loyal but Lampard always considers riches not wealth.
What do want? Riches or wealth?
Not sure I agree with the Loyal part
13 years at Chelsea
1 year management at Derby did well and earned a crack at the big time
Its what Chelsea need at this time

I'm a Man Utd fan, and am looking forward to the new season, and have high hopes for my local team, Mansfield, as well.
Why Mansfield Di do you come from there
Hi - I am from Chesterfield originally, but have lived in Mansfield for 10 years. Do you know it, or is it too far "up north" for you lol
No I know both and have travelled extensively in the uk
