I think my friends are beginning to gang up on me. They must have decided that I need to be nurtured and encouraged to be a little more tender and philosophical. Yesterday, an ex-colleague, Paul sent me a short story that I have repeated below. It wasn’t until I got to the last line that I realised that this story epitomises the whole ethos of Wealthy Affiliate and the community that we have collectively developed here and how we help each other.

Have a read, see what you think, it had an impact on me.

The Starfish Story by Loren Eisley

One day a man was walking along a beach when he noticed a boy hurriedly picking up and gently throwing things into the ocean.

Approaching the boy, he asked, “Young man, what are you doing.”

The boy replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they will die.”

The man laughed to himself and said, “Don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish. You can’t make any difference!”

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the man he said …

“I made a difference to that one.”

I hope you enjoyed that. Keep helping, keep making a difference, one at a time.

Always one of my favorite stories. I know I may not be able to change the world or even a country (though I have a distant relative who totally changed healthcare in India for the better over a century ago!). But I can make a difference in my little corner of the world.

I can give someone a smile - sometimes that's just what they need.

I can give someone a hug - I've been told I'm a "world-class hugger", so evidently I make people feel better with a hug from Jeannine.

I can donate my time to make someone's life better.

I can donate directly to things I believe in, mostly locally, where I know the funds are going to the need, rather than to overhead.

I will always choose to make a difference anywhere I can.

Jeannine, a model for all of us to follow. You're already looking after Starfish but there are a lot out there that don't.
Thank you for this uplifting addition.
Take care now.

Hey Bux
This is one of my all time favourites ... if we all just made a difference to one person even once a month, how different the world would be.
When I feel overwhelmed by the need in the world, this is my "go to".
Agreed, keep making a difference, one at a time.
Blessings
Louise

You are right Louise. One kind act a day.

Very cool story Bux. We can certainly make a difference on someone in our own little part of the world.
Hugh

Yes we can Hugh.
Thanks
Bux
