Playing Snooker at WA

Greetings everybody.

A cold day here in the UK so I’ve taken refuge in front of the TV to watch the Masters Snooker Championship. I’m hopeless at snooker, not really a fan of snooker or pool, but I absolutely love head to head sports. Nothing, however, can ever compare to the Tour De France, but snooker will do for now.

I love observing the psychological aspect of the players, how they react to potting a ball and watching their facial expressions, but more telling is their response to a missed opportunity. Both players are on a par with each other, but one is easily discouraged, you can tell by his facial expressions, the diverted look in his eyes when things have gone against him. The second player is a fighter. He digs deep and takes on the challenge. He might be down, but he’s not out, he looks straight ahead at the challenge. And it shows, he comes back from hopeless situations and at the moment he’s winning.

And isn’t that just how people react to everyday life situations. We can work and work at our business, at our niche and then something happens in life that knocks us back. The car breaks down, it’s snowing outside and they can’t get to the shops, the printer has jammed. And for some people that is the end of the world. They are deflated and beaten for hours or even days. Their on-line activity drops off and it may take a week or more for them to muster the enthusiasm to start again, to pick up from where they left off, some never do. I’m not talking about the really serious events, illnesses or worse, just the everyday run of the mill hiccups.

And what should we do. We must fight for right to be back in the game. Scratch eyes out, spit and bite to keep things moving forwards. If you want that business opportunity, if you want to succeed then sitting feeling sorry for yourself is not the way forward. You might be down, but you are most certainly not out. Recent events are history, forget them and climb out of that hole and beat them. You are a success story in the making, so start making it happen, take control, take charge of the future.

C’mon folks, the view is great from the top of the mountain

The journey to the top of the mountain may be easy for some but for others who did not prepare for the climb it is nearly impossible. We each must find a way to prepare for the obstacles that we encounter along the way and find solutions for bypassing the obstacle. One way is through training(highly recommended) another way is to continue to struggle which takes longer and is more uncertain.

Jerry, that is a fantastic reply. I'd never thought of it like that.
Thanks. Bux.

Nice motivational piece my friend!

I can't believe that you are not a huge fan of snooker or even pool...

I must have had a slightly mis spent youth around the pool table in the local ale house...

By the age of 18 I found myself captain of the team and we went on to win many prestigious prizes in the area..

The secret.. well no secret really.. I had a snooker table back at the ranch and practiced, practiced and practiced until I could practice no more!!

The view from the top of the mountain was a spectacular one indeed!!

You've hit it on the head there Nick.
Practice really is the not so secret secret.
I used to tell all my students to practice, start again and practice, start again ...
The ones that did are now successful. The couldn't be bothered ones are now in different careers - if you can call what they are doing a career.
A lot to talk about when we have that club sandwich.

A lot to discuss indeed buddy!

Nice message!

Thank you Keith. Some of us don't need reminding.
Hope all is going well for you and you are starting to get things sorted.

I am getting there. I am trying to organize my affiliate links and figuring out how to best use them on my site. I am getting a little more traffic every day and more from search.

Don’t worry about asking for help. We help each other here.

I have asked for a lot of help. My challenge is finding things to promote. Unfortunately, a lot of them I have to apply individually which takes quite a bit of time but I am getting there. It is accelerating since the holidays are over and everyone is back so my applications are getting reviewed and approved now.

That's good. patience and repetition are the buzz words.
Same old thing, day after day, and then it happens.
You will get there.
Good luck.

I am not into fighting to the extent of your last paragraph, but I like the rest of your thoughts.

Thanks for the reply Rosanna. Do what you need to do to stay on top. You must be close to 3 years here at WA. Hope it's going well for you. Take care.
