What Are You Talking About?

I have been doing a fair bit of online research in the last week or so to find some info to complete a section of the course I am creating.

One of the things I have started to notice again recently is the number of people who have managed to get articles ranked by focusing purely on keywords rather than quality content. I find this quite annoying when I click on a link to an article to find that it has clearly been written to rank for the keyword rather than to offer valuable content which the reader finds engaging.

At WA we are taught about how to use SEO to create content which ranks in the search engines. Just remember that when you find a good keyword to write about you should certainly include it in your article - but make sure it reads well, makes grammatical sense and isn't stuffed with the same keyword repeatedly.

Write your content for your readers - not for Google.

There is no point creating a keyword optimised article which brings 1000 visitors to your site who all arrive and think to themselves "This is crap", and then leave again.

Better to create an article which brings 50 visitors to your site who arrive and think "this is great" and then read more of your content and become a regular visitor.

Make your content valuable and your message clear!

Cheers

Dave

Hi! I agree that the quality of content is important to retain readers, I comment on this as a visitor to blogs and websites. I myself am a beginner in the world of WA, and I started building my site only a couple of weeks ago, but I am aware that quality is very important from the beginning.
Greetings,
Nina

You are starting from a good place of knowledge, Nina.

I wish you much success at WA.
Cassi

Hi Nina
It’s all about getting the right balance when you create content. You need to find a good keyword to write about but the content you create needs to bring value to a reader or they will just click away again.

Good luck with building your business here at WA

Dave

Some of the content online is brillant and like you say Dave some of it is subpar.

I thought that Google was all over keyword stuffing many updates ago and kicked low quality waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy down the rankings.

From observation and viewing the search results that are being presented, my view is that Google is under pressure and probably one too many algorithm up dates past a gold standard. Some days search is way off beam. Staggering around like a drunken monkey.

Like you say Dave the best thing we can do is to keep tapping on the keyboard and generation quality content.

Grest reminders in your post.

Alex

Hi Alex
Yes I thought this was a thing of the past but I have started to see some absolute garbage results in my searches again recently.
Let's make sure we stick to creating quality content for the longer term!

Thanks
Dave

I am scared of the image 😳😳😱 anyway, to the topic, you are absolutely right, I have also noticed some articles that are purely written for Google and it’s really frustrating when you are looking for information, and you land on articles that offer nothing beneficial.

Hi Rose
You have to wonder what these people hope to achieve. They might be getting the traffic but anyone reading the article will just be clicking away within seconds.
Mind the gators 🐊🤣

This keyword versus rich content could be a skewed version of the Turtoise and the Heir. You know, the slow moving content people never stopping, while the turtoise fooling around thinking it has all the time in the world to get readers hooked?

Same deal, guess who finishes first, Dave?

I thought those were crocs... alligators. Wow, You mean since they can read the signs, they are waiting for runners to move to the side of the road? Hahaha. Oh, my God, that's so funny. I laughed so hard. Good one. Luckily, they are quite visible.

Hi Joss
Yes the analogy with the tortoise and hare is a good one!
Glad you enjoyed the pic with the gators!

Dave

Your feedback is a good one! Made me laughed!

Dave, I you are very right and I could not agree more.

It was what we are taught at WA and what Jay reiterates frequently.

Like you, I come across the same when researching.
I take a note of the crappy articles and, if any fit into my niche, I keep them in mind to write a quality article at some point.

Flip the script. 🙂

Have a good day.
Cassi

Hi Cassi
Yes that's a great idea about writing a good article to blow the crappy one off the rankings!
Genius!

Thanks
Dave
