Job Security Is A Thing Of The Past!

If you have been watching the news recently then you can't have failed to notice how many companies and businesses are struggling right now. Here in the UK this week there was an announcement by Rolls Royce - who manufacture airplane engines - that they were cutting 9000 jobs.

If you have seen the news stories and pictures of hundreds of airplanes parked up on a desert airfield in USA, you'll understand why huge companies like Rolls Royce, Boeing, Airbus and all the big airlines are under serious pressure and cutting staff worldwide.

I read recently that 26 million Americans had filed for unemployment since the start of the pandemic.

The days of job security are over now and if you haven't made a start on creating an online business for yourself then you need to act soon. The amount of business being done online right now is growing at an enormous rate and you don't want to miss out on this opportunity.

Please don't be one of those people who wait until you receive your redundancy notice to build your future!

Let's not pretend that it's easy because it's not. Lots of hours of hard work are required and problems and failures are pretty much inevitable. Most people who start an online business will fail - despite putting in dozens of hours of hard work and potentially spending thousands of dollars on courses and products that promise to show the secret of getting rich online.

Fortunately as members of WA we don't need to worry about spending thousands of dollars on crackpot systems that were only ever going to make money for the creator.

The pathway to online business success has been laid out for us and all we need to do is follow the training and ask for help whenever we need it. Where else online can you get questions answered and problems solved within minutes, the way you can here?

New Project / Old Project

Now that I have been a WA member for nearly a year and absorbed as much of the training as possible I have decided to put it into practice with a little project to work alongside my main website.

I have an old website that I hadn't logged in to since July 2019. This week I decided to apply the WA system to this site to see if I can make it profitable and how quickly I can do it. There was some content on it which was completely random and had no concepts of SEO applied to it. I am now working through fixing it up, applying SEO and redesigning the whole site. I've already hit a few problems - particularly with the theme - but I'll figure it all out.

You know what? I'm really enjoying it and relishing the challenge. I even found that I have rediscoved my passion for the niche!

I'll let you know how it develops!

Regards!

Dave

Excellent Post, that job security stuff has been in a slow downward for a while and it will leave many people in trouble. It has been stated that 4 out of 10 small businesses will not return and small business in the US are 60% of the gross national product. As they What is the best time to start an online business, YESTERDAY!

Hi Edward.
Yes the stats that are coming out for people with small businesses are painful reading. It's a shame that people that have devoted years of time and invested their own money in a business are going to lose it through no fault of their own.
Thanks
Dave

Great post Dave. It was nearly one fifth of the entire workforce of Rolls Royce, tragic. These kind of lay-offs have a ripple effect throughout many businesses.
I like your 'project', I had also intended to go through the training again, as there will be a huge list of things that I have missed first time round.
Now is definitely the time to be pushing our online business and encouraging others to do the same.
Hope you're having the same weather as we are.

I also am planning on going through the training again when I add a review website. I can't fix some things on my present site, that is why it has on my profile 1 post.

Hi Twack
Yes the jobs lost at Roll Royce itself are just the tip of the iceberg. The effects on suppliers may not be seen for a while.
The project was going well but is currently derailed by a theme issue that site support can't seem to help me with!
Who said it was easy?!?!

Weather here is ok - dry, but not as sunny or warm as you guys have had it.

It's a great idea.

If only we knew beforehand but then as we build our sites out, we have new ideas that we may not have considered at the beginning.

Because of the pandemic we are possibly in or on the verge of a worldwide depression.

If most of the people who buy the things we promote have lost their jobs it affects us too.

But there are always things you have to have even if you have to beg, borrow and steal to get them. Those are the products we should be promoting.

A lot of people are in the health and fitness niches. Exercise equipment is very expensive but people will still need ways to get or stay in shape.

Basic commodities will always have a market.

Hi Neil

Yes we certainly need to be choosy in our target market. Luxury items are probably not a good bet right now but given the growth in online trade we would be mad not to try to find our little niche to mine!

Cheers
Dave

I had an idea that I would do a site that is like an online dollar store. Even people who have money shop at dollar stores so they can keep more of their money.

I only found one affiliate program selling those kinds of items and their website didn't exactly make it easy to find what you are looking for. Still, I started to fill out the application and it took me the the Share-A-Sale application which I filled out.

Share-A-Sale declined my application so I converted the site to something else with a new domain name. I still have the domain name for that idea and it's a really great name for that niche if I can find a way to offer those kinds of products.

After all, there are some things people have to have and now there will be a lot more people who in the past would have shunned patronizing such a store who now need to save money.

If I can find a way to help them find those products it could be a big winner.

It certainly sounds like a good idea. The only problem I would see with an online dollar store would be the "carriage/postage" fees that would be needed.
You could end up paying as much for shipping as you pay for the products.
Unless I am completely misunderstanding...

I had thought of that. People might not order items like canned food that might cost more than the price to ship but things like clothing and school supplies and many other things should have reasonable s&h costs.

Obviously I wouldn't call it an online dollar store but I should be able to think of a good branding identity for it.

No one is safe from this--we must have backup plans in place and be ready to take action, Dave! Thanks for this! Jeff

Hi Jeff
Yes now is the time to prepare and take action.
The opportunity has never been greater!

Thanks
Dave

Nor will it EVER be greater, I'm afraid, Dave!

Jeff

I agree Jeff.
The world is changing right now. This is (hopefully) a once in a lifetime situation.
