A few more of my favourite Tools and Resources

Hi All

I wrote a quick blog post earlier this week to share a few of my favourite tools and resources that I use for building my business. Since they seemed to be very well-received (thanks to everyone who sent me PMs to ask for more info) I thought I would share with you a few other handy tools that I use.

Most of the tools you need for building your business are free - as are most on this list - but occasionally it is worth spending a few dollars to get the job done right!

Anyway, here we go with part 2 of the list!

More Business Building Resources

Zoom (https://zoom.us/) - If you have attended webinars given by other digital marketers then you might already be familiar with Zoom. In many ways it's a bit like Skype or Facetime - in that you can have a video call with one or more other people. (When Heidi and I want to discuss something in our business, we jump on a zoom call). Another great feature is that you can record the call as a video (potential product idea?). You can also share your computer screen with others on the call. It's also completely free to use all these basic features.

Coolors (https://coolors.co/) - have you ever been to a website and been appalled at the choices of colours that the owner has made? Coolors is a free resource for helping you pick a selection of colours that work together, rather than clash.

Aweber (https://www.aweber.com) - If you are planning to create an email mailing list for your business (you really should!) then you will need an account with an autoresponder service to store the email addresses securely and sent out messages. There are a number of free services such as Mailchimp and Mailmunch, but they all have limited capability, as well as a reputation for closing your account if you send emails with affiliate links. Aweber gives a good balance between cost and functionality (in my opinion)

Personal Auto DM (https://www.personalautodm.com/) - This is a tool for sending direct messages to new followers on Twitter. I should say - this is frowned upon by Twitter and is a bit of a gray area but I have been using it for about 6 weeks now to invite new Twitter followers to visit my site, join my email list and get a free gift.and it is building my list nicely!

Answer The Public (https://answerthepublic.com/) - Struggling for Keywords - especially low hanging fruit ones? This could be the answer to your problem! Simply stick in your main keyword term and you will get a selection of hundreds of "long tail" keywords based on it.

Pretty Links Wordpress Plugin - Lets face it, affiliate links are uglier than Orcs! Nobody is likely to click on a link that looks spammy or potentially dangerous. Pretty links is a plugin that allows you to take a link that looks like this:

https://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/a_aid/07231e5d/campaign/lau...

And turns it into something that looks much more normal such as:

https://mywebsite.com/WA

Which is much more likely to get someone to click on it.

RemoveBG (https://www.remove.bg/) - This is one of my favourite graphic tools! It's a tool which allows you to remove the background from an image and so allows you to then use the main subject of the image for creating other graphics. Let me show you an example:

Here's a photo of me on holiday last year in Columbia:

If I run it through RemoveBG then I can completely remove the background of the pic like this:

And then I can superimpose this image of me onto a completely different background using something like Canva!

Pretty cool huh?!?!?!

I hope you find some of these tools useful. Please let me know how you get on!

Cheers

Dave

Hi there, Dave!

Some of these tools are really useful. I use Aweber, Thrive Architect, Screencast-o-matic, Tailwind for Pinterest scheduling, idPLR for bonuses and content to sell, Depositphotos for lovely photos....

Some of your tools I have only heard of for the first time. I will look into some of them.

They definitely make the WA experience more enjoyable!

Thanks for sharing!

Stella

Hi Stella

Thanks for your kind comment and I'm glad you found some useful tools in my list. I hope they help you build your business.

Thanks
Dave

These are so great, once again! I have heard of a few of them, but I'm interested in trying the Remove BG tool, looks awesome.

Also, a question on Aweber. I would like to focus on building an email list in the coming weeks. Would you recommend starting from the get-go with a paid subscription like Aweber rather than doing a free site and having to transfer later?

Thanks for sharing great resources!

Heidi

Hi Heidi

If you are serious about building an email list then I recommend you use a paid service like Aweber. It has lots more features and is more user friendly and has higher delivery rates than the free services. I have also heard horror stories of free services like Mailchimp closing people's accounts without warning for minor crimes like "adding affiliate links" to their emails.

Hope that helps but feel free to ask if you have any other questions

Cheers
Dave

That is very helpful! I think I want to go all in with the email side, so I'll likely just start off with a paid subscription and avoid all of the horror stories.
Thank you!
Heidi

Hi Heidi
As long as you make a genuine effort to build your list and then email regularly then it is worth paying for a premium provider.

Good luck with it!

Dave

Great tips, thank you!

Good stuff Dave. As far as aWeber is concerned after you get 500 subscribers they charge you an extra $10 a month and it keeps going up the more you have. 5he same with Getresponse only they go up after 1000 subscibers.

Trafficwave doesn't have as many bells and whistles but they are the same price as the others and you are allowed an unlimited number of subscribers

Thanks for the tip. I’m not familiar with Trafficwave but I’ll have a look.

Cheers
Dave

Thanks so much for sharing. This has some great content which I will definitely use.

Best wishes

Craig

Hi Craig

Awesome - I always love to hear when people find stuff useful.

Good luck
Dave

Thanks Dave for this, I will definitely be trying background remove.

Already use Pretty Links, great tool.

I missed your first post so am off to read it now.

Ta,

Andy.

Hi Andy
Yes I agree - Pretty links is a really good tool for making your links look good.
RemoveBG is a great tool too. One of my favourites at the minute!

Cheers
Dave
