I had my niche all picked out, but a friend of mine said that it might be over-saturated at this point, which made me stop and think. Can a niche be over-done?

I am an

I came here to WA with no background in affiliate marketing and jumped into the make money online niche. I would imagine that people would say that's gotta be the most "saturated" niche out there, yet it's worked out better than I ever imagined.

The point here is to not listen to people when they tell you something is over saturated. You're not competing with all the thousands of websites out there. That's what keyword research is all about. You'll be choosing low competition keywords that bring in traffic and that's how your posts will rank.

And there are almost limitless ways to make money in the video game niche. You listed several and every single one of those makes sense. Plus, it's your passion and a true interest. This is probably the most important aspect.

Creating content around something you have a genuine interest in makes it that much easier to be consistent with your content creation. Your point of view is what will draw your audience in as they have the same interests as you do regarding this niche.

I like all the answers you received. I just want to add.. no problem to monetize a website like that. Chairs, mouse, keyboard, computers, games, game consoles... Right?

Also, your last paragraph sounds very familiar to me... it's just doubts creeping in. I think we could all wonder that about our own niches. In fact I have wondered the exact same things. There are people who know more than me, people who are more established, etc... Kick those thoughts to the curb!

It's good to ask though. Alex, Abie and Jim's answers were all really helpful.

I wish you the best!!

I think my biggest obstacle is myself. I'm just starting down this path of being a business owner and entrepreneur and I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. Thank God for people like you guys here at WA! You guys have no idea how much I appreciate the support and encouragement.

Me too and I feel exactly the same about WA.

I will say that in just a week of Premium and having published just 2 posts my confidence has already grown. It will happen for you too. The key seems to be just follow the training. I love Kyle's videos, it's just bite size chunks. Baby steps!

Hi Monica,

Gaming is a masive industry. Gamers around the world will likely spend around $138 billion on games this year.
The figure represents a 13.3 percent increase year over year, or an extra $16.2 billion.

I don't think that it is oversaturataed.

Markets like that are booming.

The key could be to drill down and target a particular sub-niche to begin with instead of going broad. I am not into gaming, as an example I have a friend who is he just spent $700 buying a chair, looking at his old chair; I don't get it looked good to me.

Thats the niche market for you.

Look at a targetted sub niche that affords the ability to expand as you grow your site.

Hi, i would do my own research to find real facts, break my niche into sub-niches and drill down keywords , I would use Jaaxy. Let me know how you get on. Have a nice day.

Thank you for telling me about Jaxxy! I'll do some research this weekend and perhaps get started on my page by Monday.

Great, if you need anything else do let me know. Happy to help! Have a great weekend too

Gaming is an enormous online market. Is it saturated?

I guess you could say that a lot of niches are saturated. However, I like the words of a very successful business man here in Australia. He made his fortune in electronics in Australia.

When asked if it was wise to open up more stores in an already saturated offline market, he said ' If a town has 5 electronic stores I'll open a sixth one, but do it better'.

It's never been any different. It's totally up to you.
However, you must remember, a saturated niche means that there must be a huge amount of potential buyers.

All the best. Jim

Thank you for the encouragement. You're absolutely right, the gaming market massive, especially now that it has gone mainstream.
