Dear Every One,

Just popped into our minds: imagine some one offers a comment here at WA you are not satisfied about. What if you totally rewrite that comment? You make

I only correct the spelling and grammar mistakes. I don't think I would like my face next to a comment I didn't write.

I generally do not edit comments unless there is a glaring error, but honestly, I would not care if someone edited my comment on their website to better serve their content as long as they didn't use swear words or portray my comment as harsh or ugly. Have at it. I think people are too nitpicky about the subject.

I agree with Loes and goodsuccess.Only
correct spelling and grammar. If you disagree with the comment, either disapprove or add a rebuttal

No, that's not good. It comes up from time to time. If you're going to do that, why not just write your own comments and apply fake names? Strive for integrity.

We have already had such questions before. Think about your own comment, to see it completely rewritten.

Disapprove it if it is not to the point, you will get your credits back, this system works. I had a few of my credits returned very recently after disapproving some comments.

I'm with Loes.

I wouldn't like it at all when my comment would be rewritten, it's my name which will pop up next to the comment, I'd rather would have it disapproved

Hi guys,
I think if it becomes known that you do that to a genuine comment it would be frowned upon. What you could do is compensate for lack of content with your own via the response.

The only time I would suggest interfering with a comment is if it is on the fence between spam and genuine. In other words, touch it up here and there, maybe add a word per sentence to avoid duplicate content, but not to change the intent or add to it. Know what I mean?

For example if someone gives you a comment that falls into that category, if they use the word site in the comment "Hey, awesome site!", you could just change it to "Hey, awesome website!".
Just a quick example. On those, I'd also either check out where their site link goes to make sure it isn't something that may be a strike against you in the eyes of your readership (depending on the nature of your site). Or just delete it completely, remove the company name that they've used as their name and use whatever name is in their email. That will insure that if it were spam, it's not anymore, and if it wasn't and the individual comes back and wonders what's up, you can explain your actions.

But changing the content for content's sake may just irk what may be a future customer, or even a returning customer or reader.

If it's blatantly spam just mark it as such and move on.
That's my 2 cents, I hope this helps! All the best to you in your efforts!
Brian

Just to make it clear, I've never had any Spam or borderline comments from the comment earning section of this site. I was referring to organic comments that are spawned from outside of this site.

I know its ok to edit them however not sure about rewriting a whole comment, I sometimes take bits our or if it really is of no use I delete it

I'd not like if someone did it to my comment. If they delete some part that is not relevant, I won't mind, but adding stuff or changing what I wrote doesn't feel very good. If you want specific comments, you could write it yourself instead of changing other people's. ;)

Dear People,

I wonder when it is the best time to start requesting comments? Me and my brother (we work together on our business) are offering comments for a while alrea

Great question

It is a good thing to ask for comments after 1 or 2 pages/post so you quickly get a feel of how you are doing, and what others think of your site. It has helped me tremendously to have others give their comments and feedback on my site. All the best to you.
Marilyn

as soon as possible :)

I ask for comments about ten seconds after I push the publish button on my site. Then I head over to social media and do the same.

Ask when you want to know.

Right away!

I agree with everyone here, as soon as you publish a post, request comments.

Comments are for each post/page separately. I do not see any point of waiting. Request comments as soon as you publish it.

I would say the sooner the better... but i would watch the training by Kyle too (if you haven't already) as there a few cool pointers to pay attention too in order for comments to be effective..

The sooner the better I would say .. the more interaction on your site can only be a good thing

Thanks

Chris

Hello,

I just checked out the stats of Google Analytics and there is a strange thing that you can see on the picture I attached.

The point is that there are 3 pos

I thought sessions was just the amount of time visitors spent on your web site. What is your bounce rate?

looks like ghost traffic we all seemed to be having this absolute pain, this may help

Thank you, Katie!

These might be bots.
Below is a good post Shoofar wrote about the issue and how you can deal with it.

Thank you very much! I set AIO SEO to hunt them down. :-)

Possibly crawler because of the time duration 0-10 secs. Not sure though.

Thank you for your answer, much appreciated!
