Are you using a webpage builder?

If using the block editor, look for the 'Page Attributes' section on the right-hand sidebar. There should be a dropdown menu where you can select your custom template.

Hello Abie,
I am using Elementor. I appreciate your reply. It didn't work exactly as you say, however, probably because the template was created with Elementor. Anyway I finally found out how to create my new page from my template. I just finished this new page a moment ago. Then I checked my other pages only to discover that all my 11 pages are now the same! Disaster struck! I will send a help message to WA to go back to the earlier version. Hope it will work!!!
Thanks for your help and have a great day.

The above process works on the default block editor from within WordPress.

You can always ask site support for a staging website to test things out before applying to your main website.

From within Elmentor, you can insert your template by clicking the 'Add Template' button (the folder icon) and selecting your template from the library.

I would assume the template would be the same. However, it should not be with the content, as that differs from one webpage to another.

I would also try Elementor docs or developers support if you are subscribed to Pro.

Hello again Abie,

It was a hard day looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. I thought I had to rebuild my whole site. However I finally found the solution.

So just to let you know, when I created a new page with a template, that template was introduced in all the pages without any warning. This is a bizarre program feature!

In Edit/Dropdown Menu, under Template, I just had to clic Elementor Full Width to remove Default Template, and my pages were back. Otherwise I couldn't open with them Elementor anymore.

There were also a few other glitches that came with this, but hey, I'm alive!

WA tried to help me, but it didn't help. They created a Siterubix copy with the data they had, however that was very old and useless at this point. Thanks to them for trying anyway.

I read domewhere that making backups is not necessary. I think it is! Do you have a recommendation on this?

Thanks again for your help, it is very highly appreciated.

Daniel

It would be helpful if you asked site support for backups. Also, in Elementor, if you do not like a specific step, you can undo your history till it gets done correctly.

If you go to classes

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/classes/

And look up in the search; there are a few webinars on Elementor to help you out.

Thanks again Abie, I will look closely into this. Have a great day.

You're awesomely welcome :)

Hi, I am looking for a simple, user-friendly, safe and efficient plugin to backup my sites.
Which one do you believe is the best in that perspective?

Yes, Daniel! A lot of these plug-ins have been blacklisted because of their inefficent use of server storasge. Follow Abie's suggestion.

Jeff

Thank you Jeffrey!

You're very welcome, Daniel!

Jeff

I know, but if your website is hosted here, you need to ask support for a backup copy of your website.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

And if not, you can use AIO WP Migration or Updraft (Plus)

Hi Abie. Thanks for your reply. Is this service available as often as needed for any plugin upgrade that recommends to backup before? This looks to me as a heavy burden with the number of members at WA multiplied by the number of plugin upgrades to do on each site.

You should not have an issue as long as your plugins are well-coded. However, if your site is hosted here, you will not be able to back up from a plugin.

I am happy to read this. But how can I find out if my plugins are well-coded?

Hello Domain gurus,
I am sure this is an easy question for many of you, but I just don't know where to look for this.
Thank you for helping me grow in beauty and ranking!

You can use the Ad Inserter plugin, as you do not want to edit your themes files directly as you will lose your changes when the theme updates or if you change your theme.

with managed hosting you don't get access to the low level of your site...
you can ask sitesupport to do this or...
is there not an option to add a html tag - which you can add yourself...

Thank you feigner for your quick reply,
I'll ask sitesupport first. Seems easier to me!!!
Best regards,
Daniel

Hello,
How deep does Google look into your site when analyzing the content? In other words, how near the Home Page do the blog texts need to be in order to be easily found?<

Hi Abie,

I was writing you a reply and maybe I touched the wrong button. Did you just get a message from me?
If you did, here is the second part, following point 1)

2) This means that if you drop Elementor later on, all your work is gone with it. So I guess it could be a great idea to save the last version of all my posts in "Site Content".

If you did not receive the first message, I will do it again. Maybe it just went to data paradise.

Thanks a lot for your invoice. This was useful.

Daniel

Hello again Abie,

Since the first par of my message did not show up, here it is again:

I watched the videos. Nice. I knew how to do links in Elementor. This time I tried directly in WordPress, just to compare the methods, easier or not.
While I was there, I also made a few changes to my text. Then I opened my post, and the changes did not appear. I inquired about this to WA technical service. The answer is that if you create a post with Elementor, you can only change it with Elementor.

So my conclusion is that :
1) I now have two texts with the same name, both in the same category. If I trash the post from my Dashboard, both texts are trashed. I didn’t fully experience the whole thing, but this is a bit weird.

... to point 2)

Thanks again,
Daniel

Search engines will find all of your posts.
yourwebsitename.com/post
You can help your audience and the search engines by creating a link to related posts from an existing post. Also using categories is away to organize your posts.

Hello,
Good confirmation of other comments I got. This is quite clear. I already have created many categories/sub categories. Now I can go for those links!
Many thanks,
Daniel

You are very welcome. Glad this helps.

Hi - ideally, you should be adding internal links. Each post should have an internal link leading to it, and leading away from it to another post.

This helps Google find your posts and understand the purpose of your site. No post should be "orphaned" without internal links.

Hello Diane,
This is a very useful explanation.
Many thanks!
Daniel

Hey
Each post is looked at individually.
Lula

Hi Lula,
Thanks for your reply!
That is great! This means that each post counts. But do you also mean that Google will find it no matter how deep it is in the site?
Daniel

If you leave good links between posts Google will find them.

Example; text link "smart TVs for bedrooms" will link to a post for smart tv's for bedrooms. Keep the text as close to the post URL as possible. Don't just link "TV's" to that same post.

I typically try for 3 in and 3 out internal links per post. For some of my money posts, I have upwards of 100 internal links pointing at them to show Google this post is really important.

I use a premium plugin called LinkWhisper to keep track of them all. It saves me a lot of time but it does cost some money so it's up to you.

Great answer Tommo,
I will look at this closely.
Thanks a lot,
Daniel

Hello WordPress champions,
I would like to show my blog to prospective affiliates before going public. Is there a way to do this?

Hi

You can disable search engine indexing

Settings > Reading

Disable Search Engine Visibility”

And save changes.

When you are ready to go public, then enable indexing.

Of course forward your domain name to whomever interested in seeing it.

Hello Abie,
Nice way to do do it. I'll try this. Thanks a lot!<
Daniel

You're very welcome.

Let us know when needing help or have further questions.

Much obliged and best wishes.

Hi - I am not sure what you mean. Are you talking about when you apply to join affiliate programs?

If so, then one of the things they may look at, before approving your application is how much traffic you are getting. Obviously, if your site is not public, you won't get any visitors

Hello Diane,
Your comment is interesting. I am wondering what is the effect of publishing a blog that has no solutions to offer to visitors until the products of affiliate vendors actually show on screen. I thought it might be better to fix this before. As I understand your comment, this is not how it works and I have to show I can get traffic before, no matter if I have nothing to offer. Do I get it right?
Thanks for you help.
Daniel

Hi - you need to show Google that your site is about helping people with useful information on the niche subject you have chosen.

Rather than being a "sales" site, where all your articles are written simply with the intention of selling something.

That is how you get your posts ranked high enough to attract traffic.

Ideally, at least your first 10 posts should be purely informational with no selling intent and not be product based.

Following on from that, you can start adding in-depth product reviews.

Overall, you should have a good balance of informational posts and product reviews.

Yes, I get this loud and clear. However I thought it might look a bit odd to show only information without having anything to offer. Well if this the way to go, then I'll just go for it!
Many thanks Diane.

Do you know their email address. You could create an email and include your affiliate link.
Your affiliate ID is the menubar $

Great to hear from you. What is my affiliate link?

Ok I found it. So if my understanding is right, I can build my site as a draft and send this link to anyone I want to share it with. Right?

Your posts will not be available for view and a good URL to copy and send to others until they are published. But if you do what Abie suggests: discourage search engines from indexing WordPress backoffice settings-> reading you could do it that way.

I was thinking you could send an email out to others if you know their email address and put your WA affiliate link in the email.

Great. I believe this sums up the answers. Nice teamwork! Many thanks.
