Hi Daniel.
I've been here for around 2 years and I struggle with writing on my website. I sometimes think that I perhaps chose the wrong niche. But you my friend, have the gift of writing and I would like to ask; have you found the right niche for yourself to write about? Perhaps a change may make the difference to you and subsequently you will be able to make a living from your website. I know that thought crosses my mind at times.
It appears to me that life here at WA is sustaining you and helping to keep you going. So I would say, do that which makes you content and fulfills you best. Regards, Annie.

"A wise man never knows it all; only fools know everything."
I know what the quote means, but you've not answered the question. Just pulling it out of the hat is likely not the case, I'm thinking. I have openly applied the quote I used to myself because I'm being honest - I'm guilty of it, as I will show in Part II. It appears your response is a come-back of sorts to something I said, but I could be wrong. Your application? If you don't want to answer it, don't, but then it's left open.

This is a quote from an unknown author in Africa. It certainly is true. However, the quote I used earlier applies to what I have learned in my own experience with critique & coaching from others, and loosely applies to having changed the way I write on here. I am not sure how you are applying this quote. There is a reason why you would use this particular quote and so your application?

Do you have a Gmail account? The great thing about Gmail is that it gives you ample space to keep your emails and not have to worry about losing them.
When I first became a member of WA, right at that time in 2010, my hard drive failed on me. Instead of beginning working on here with lessons and so forth, I spent the next couple months recovering data. Like you, I managed to retrieve about 80%. Much of it came from CD disc backups (some of which failed with the cyclical redundancy check error) and thus I have first-hand experience with relying on CDs for backup purposes!
This is a good reason why I put this Resource here. We put backups on the back burner and BAM! It hits!
Another thing we tend to do is ignore the warning signs. I did not have time to put those on here but I will probably add another page to this resource with a more concise list of warning signs.
Yet another thing we do often, is get that backup done, but then we don't do it for awhile again, even after having done a full backup, files change and new ones are added. Though we do have the backups for much of our data, the most current gets wiped when suddenly the hard drive goes into cyber oblivion.
This is what happened to me this time around, but fortunately, as of this morning, I managed to capture everything!
I have lost a couple files to damage at this point, a sound file, which is missing segments from it and a video which is still there but is corrupted.
I was of the old school, leaving my computer on all the time. We don't do that today. It's like running any machinery non-stop for five years. Hard drives and other media drives, outside of fans in a computer, are the only mechanical parts in a computer. They have bearings in them and when these begin to wear, you begin getting errors and corruption.
I like the external drive method because you can schedule your backups with it, making this one of the most trouble-free methods, but not necessarily the safest, which would be cloud storage with one of the reputable service providers.
Thanks for commenting :)

Daniel, I am so sorry.
It was never my intention to make you feel intimidated, or anybody else here, either. I didn't ask Steve and Nathaniel how much they earn, it was public info, I've simply read it on their websites. Here: http://www.ivetriedthat.com/2011/03/04/my-secrets-to-making-money-online-part-one/ and here http://onemorecupof-coffee.com/wealthy-affiliate-review/.
Reading them actually helped me a lot, they offered me the highest level a person can achieve here, so I knew, in time, I can place myself anywhere between $0 and $6k.
Comparing me with others, is pointless. We are coming with different backgrounds, different circumstances, different training, different....actually, everything is different, we cannot possibly expect the same result. It's like being a flower complaining it's not a tree.
I also know those figures were really worked for. We all see here how difficult it is, it takes determination and a lot of well-invested time.
My goal here was 1k per month in a year time. But, have I invested all the time I had for this? No. Have I done everything in my power? No.
Of course, I have my reasons for these "no-s", we all have. And don't even blame myself for them. But since they exist, I cannot expect that much. And also, what others make, don't intimidate me. Only offer a landmark. I can set some models to follow, some good examples. We all need them.
Again, I'm sorry, I didn't want to twist the knife in an old wound. I realize you wrote this for others and yourself as well. It is good to be optimistic, it is good to don't give up easily, but on the other hand, you cannot expect a person to not know objective facts.
You cannot simply say: "Stop asking how much, and in how much time. Just continue working." It's not fair and sounds like scam.
We cannot hide behind the word "ethic". We need money in this world before we need ethics.
So, the fact that those big guys chose to write how much they earn on their websites, shows trust and transparency. And also offer some landmarks we all need. It's simple: "It takes like 4 to 5 years of HARD work to get to maximum 6k per month. The rest is up to you."
I wish everybody to find their way in this market and be successful. Maybe there are people here who managed to get famous through their websites, who found a way of feeding their egos through those blogs and they are not that interested in money. But there are also people who only want a simple income. And here, they pay money to learn. Out of respect for them we should give more than "Don't give up, keep on working, don't ask how much!". This resembles a bossy attitude we all hate.
Best of luck, inspiration, health and joy to everyone here!

Couldn't add the images until later. That does take time trying to make sure they are all legal ones to put up, the creative commons ones. Sometimes just can't find the right ones.
I try to use a little humour when putting them up, for the question, "what kind of money do you make?" I put an image showing bank notes from all over the world. It shows "all kinds of money."

Do you have any images on any of your sites? If you do, go to one of them and click on it. What happens?
Well, you see the image by itself on a page. This page is associated with your media library in your WordPress installation.
It doesn't do much good for you that way because when your readers go to it, they say, "Well, ummm, Okay" and they click away.
If the image doesn't really hold any value insofar as having a link on it going somewhere, delete the link. When your readers hover over it, it does nothing.
However, your images also become an added opportunity to add a link or two to your page. As I said in the end of my Resource, you don't want to overdo this. On a regular page, no more than three. That's my personal opinion.
It will help you get more hits to your links and add more SEO power to your pages, especially of these are internal links go to other pages/posts in your site.
