The online version isn't bad, however the stuff that goes in stores on the DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING (USA) is beyond deplorable and should be outlawed!

IMc added a great contribution to this thread and I'm going to include it right here. It gives a striking contrast to Black Friday as experienced in the UK.

Absolutely Crazy! Starving people in some countries don't behave in that manner even when there is life saving food and water aid being handed out for free!

Can you imagine what it will be like when the dollar fails! If they behave like this now, I guess head for the hills when the bottom drops out!

Idiots, there's even videos of people getting into fights.

There sure is! I didn't think that would be anything appropriate to put on here, but yes, this is the most idiotic thing that comes from the USA. Sad that it is happening in Europe too. I just learned this today. I wager that the kind of behavior you see in American stores is nowhere near as bad in Europe!

That is utter madness. I stay away from the stores on black Friday and also the day after Christmas.

I don't like Santa Claus music at all and that alone keeps me out of the stores during the Christmas season. I hate ear worms, especially those that are of music I don't like.

I don't understand this. We don't have this kind of madness here where I live.

It's horrible and very sickening to experience, even on video. I have nothing to do with Black Friday. I said they should make this whole thing accessible online but I guess this is what Monday Cyber Day is all about. They need to stop this insanity now and not open these stores! The behavior and people getting hurt isn't anywhere near worth the profits they get!

This kind of stuff makes the Romans look like angels!

That shows you what "us humans" have become at large! Despicable, isn't it! And people keep telling me that I am "negative". Phooey, I am not negative, I just see it the way it is. And it is my "niche" for one of my future websites. I am sure it will cause a lot of controversy and as such interest! Again, a despicable human trend!

They should only allow online sales for this holiday (if it is considered one) this way it would eliminate all of this sickness! The stores would not have to put these events on, people would not get killed and hurt and when the product is gone, it's gone. Nobody knows who has what and there are no fights. You can be sure the stores would be far better off and public as well!

But then this is not what it is all about and not the intention of the CPA's. Only the "Bottom Line" counts! We couldn't have it your way because then there would be no stores left to make enough money to support them.
The whole idea of a Discount Day is one big lie anyway.
Just think about it, when they offer 50% off, what they are doing is take the price of one Dollar, double it for the sales day and then give you 50% off. Were does that leave you?

I know it. Most sales are like that anyway and people are too gullible and gobble it down like pigs do at the feeding trough.

Some of these big stores going down would not break my heart any.

People are breaking through the steel roll-down doors and barriers! It is incredibly sickening!

I am absolutely with you on this! My upcoming "niche" website will be about this and other human ailments. But I will start at what I "discovered" about human origin and it is very different from what most people think it is. There is enough material to keep this niche going, and going, and..... What I don't know yet is if I will get a big enough audience!? But that is my risk to take and find out. I believe that there are a lot of people out there who are fed up with the present state of our "society" but are afraid to voice there opinions. This is the audience I am seeking. We'll see! It is not as much for the obey I am doing this but for the principle!

Sadly, not many people here in the US relate to good manners and they can't see their bad behaviors. A large percentage of people here are very stupid and ignorant. There is no discipline and the family has decayed. Sadly, the family unit is the most important organization and yet this kind of stuff occurs even in these.

At the death of my oldest brother, in fact, before he died and IN HIS HEARING, his wife and daughters kicked us out of their house without warning and closely monitored us two at a time for short visits to my brother.

GREED! They wanted my brother all for themselves (for insidious reasons) and the heck with my brother's immediate siblings! Then there were Facebook wars the next day. Horrible! Sad! It's found everywhere, with the stuff we see in these stores being the most blatant exhibitions of such carnage!

Not to mention, his wife would not let us have any keepsakes of my brother's. They took all of it and sold it off, sold the house and now live in a grander home in Arizona. Their final memory of my brother was he in his death. Our last is of he when he was still alive.

This kind of stuff is everywhere. Good manners and civil behaviour still exists here, but its fleeting existence is today, worthy of news headlines.

There are no arguments on this from my end Daniel! I fully agree with you! I am trying to do my best on this issue and WA has shown me a way to bring this to the "ignorant" public. It will be a rough road; of that I am sure. If you want to join in, I am open to suggestions.
My website is being build as we speak. I farmed it out because I have no clue what I am doing there. Once it is ready I will have to learn how to "webmaster" it.
Fully disgusted too! Mike

Not for me either, :)

:)

It is an unwelcome addition to our lives here in parts of Europe also.I had never heard of it until about five years ago.

Wow! I thought this was an America-only thing! It's sad it's occurring in Europe too!

I hear you Daniel but it's not Thanksgiving everywhere so that connection isn't true over the rest of the world.
Having said that, I think online deals are fine if the companies concerned want to do that but to have hundreds of people queuing up outside shops and then customers fighting over a discounted tv...that does leave me cold.
We have a similar phenomenon over here in the UK when a lot of stores having Boxing Day sales so you could use the same analogy about it being the day after Christmas Day but I think this mass orgy of high street panic buying might be coming to an end with the relentless pursuit of every dollar/pound/euro by online behomoths like Amazon.

The greed and fighting is the thing about this that disturbs me. They need to corral them like cattle and the deal products handed out through a protected window. It should be policed. I know this is extreme, but the way they are doing now is simply too dangerous, people getting hurt and killed! A 73-year old woman got trampled to death. The crowd just kept going over her. What she was doing there is not known, but it is very sad to see stuff like this happening, and people getting shot, fist fights and others tugging at packages until they are torn apart!

This could be easily done online through mail order! It eliminates all of this stuff. Some may think it's fun, but the harm that it causes outweighs any good that comes out of it.

I agree with all of that Daniel, thankfully it seems that people in the UK have got wise to this sort of thing and the shops were quiet on Friday....doing all their shopping online no doubt.

IMc above has provided the following article from Huffington Post.

Not that those in the UK has gotten wise to these sort of things, but that good manners and etiquette have always been and are still a way of life in the UK. This is something I have always noted and today there is an awful contrast between the two countries. We hear of many nations that hate Americans for this sort of thing and sadly, they have a point.

The US is still a great place to live and work, but many people here have no clue about exhibiting courtesy and good manners. It's really awful and I'm ashamed of it.

Very interesting Daniel......we've still got our fair share of idiots though, but perhaps they've all decided to do their shopping online this year.
Mark

Yep. It's what some of you call "twits." Sadly this makes up about half of our population over here.

Twits indeed....lols

I am not a fan of Black Friday. I suppose to each his own. But I am not going to stand in line for hours for a few dollars off. Not much for shopping though!

There are people that actually camp in front of these stores to be the first ones in!

Wow, wow, wow...crazy indeed!

It's awful!
