Wealthy Affiliate, 11 Years Ago Today - The Ultimate Success Story Since

All systems go! Wealthy Affiliate was born on this day, the official launch date of the then, keyword list site.

By this time however, the Old Forum had been successfully set up, this occurring on the 7th of September, 2005. Activity, though not very much, predates the official launch with Carson showing up on this early date, followed very soon by a member known as "LittleDevil."

Here's the very beginnings of the Old Forum. I wish I had more of this but only have the very earliest and some of my own posts almost five years later!

There are some lessons to be learned within this tidbit - of which are timely and still taught here at WAU today!

~~~
Welcome!
Welcome to the WealthyAffiliate members forum. The forum is protected from the outside world so only registered users can sign up and view this forum. If you're new to the site drop us all a note to say hello and to introduce yourself. We're a tight knit group of internet marketers who are all friendly and willing to answer any questions.
We're all at different levels in the internet marketing world so don't resist asking a question. Chances are that someone has the answer, and if not, we'll figure it out together.
Let's get started!
Welcome LittleDevil, it's always nice to meet new members of the forum. Let me know how you are succeeding with the KW lists, if you put in the effort you're going to make $1000's.
...the next post, written exactly 11 years and a couple hours from the time of this writing, shows something that would be a continuous trend down to our time and place at Wealthy Affiliate University...
What's up fellow WealthyAffiliates - or future Wealthy Affilaites! I'm really happy to see that your site is actually worth the money! I've seriously signed up for a ton of membership sites, and this one blows away the others*. One time I signed up for a program where they promissed to email me their GOLDEN keyword lists every week. They did, but the kw lists were for markets weren't very profitable.
I like how you allow us to download the kw lists when we want to. I'm already planning to launch some new adword campaigns using your kw lists.
* emphasis mine
In early November, with the Forum posts going along but very slowly, a member was the first of many, many to express Wealthy Affiliate like this...
"Man...this is like a cool, shady spot after wandering through the Internet marketing/money making desert"
~~~

...Hurricane Katrina had devastated this poor man's home as he expresses his eviction by the storm during this post.

The Rest is History!

There were other sections of the Old Forum that had posts occurring on or just after the 7th, but not many.

I came in during the latter part of Wealthy Affiliate University's platform "2.0" updates. There had been a great deal of progress since the beginning with web hosting, the early version of Site Rubix, of course, the Forum, and many, many other things that had been rolled out since, making the platform much more by this time, a mere keyword list site.

Today there are many, many things about Wealthy Affiliate that can truly be said, "Best on Earth! I have reason to believe that when WA began in September 2005, this was true of its keyword lists and the instructions you could get here, which was basic online marketing, PPC, websites, and of course keywords. Nobody else had founding fathers directly interacting with members.

They cared for their members and still do without wavering!

I myself am in limbo now with many things taking up my time but one thing I have never done - was quit Wealthy Affiliate. I still strongly believe that, once I clear up what is holding me back from business, once it is knocked down to a dull roar, I will be able to demonstrate, as many, many others have and still do - the absolute power of this awesome place!

I hope you've enjoyed the bit of history I have on display here and know that your business is in the best hands you can ever imagine - yours - and backed by Wealthy Affiliate University!

Cheers!

Thanx for the history lesson, Daniel. I've been wondering about the "early days" - I, too, have some things diverting my attention and blocking my progress, but I know WAU will be there when I am ready to continue. Best of luck to you when "tilting at windmills".

Sorry I overlooked your reply :(

Because WAU was so different than any of the rest, it spurred my curiosity to look into it, what made it so different? Why was WAU so successful?

This answer required going all the way back. There were things said of it that are no long available but one of the things I can remember insofar as motivation goes was...

"We decided to lay it all out on the table. Very few others do this for fear it will ruin their business. It was our stance, why should we hold anything back?" These are not verbatim, but the idea is there.

This, in a nutshell, is what brought about such success for WAU. Today we know it as "Paying It Forward."

Today very few teach this concept. It isn't unique to WAU, but it certainly is the byword here!

Thanks for sharing this Daniel,l first saw WA sometime 2007 one night when l could not fall asleep,when l show it to my X in the morning,like always he said to forget it and l did, l did not have the money to join.
3 years later again another night when l could not sleep,found WA while surfing,the thought of putting in the work scared me,l felt, if lm going to pay,they have to help me build a website.The thought of building a website scared me.
I did not join WA that night but joined some shady programs and ended losing over $360( not sure the correct amount but was over $300)buying the next big secret.
When they kept asking me to buy this or that, like any confused and desperate person, l paid for the useless programs,I'm ashamed to say how much l lost and after some months, l gave up and said no more IM.
2014,again another night when l could not sleep,found a post by Kyle while surfing and decided l will give IM a try one last time and signed up.First-time l did not get scammed and first-time l made money online.
Although after time l got lucky and abandoned my sites I'm surprised people still visit my sites,l believe l learned well here.

Just following the lessons on here is what is making the continuing visits happen! Due to extenuating circumstances, I have not been able to put the time into my campaigns like I should. Work and other obligations are still at large and I am now trying to knock down the obligations so I can clean my slate, even partly so I can put more of myself into my online work.

In spite of this, I have never lost all of my WA income even though these circumstances have persisted for two years now, and in fact, I found I made a new sale yesterday! I found it in my email notifications. I have not yet looked into the parameters of the sale but will after finishing with this.

I am up through the night as this is what I feel it takes to knock out the baggage that is keeping me from putting full effort into my work such that it would become a full-time income. It never has because I have always been laden down with all this other stuff. I'm not very good at multi-tasking and never have been. When I got kicked out of where I was living (in the camper) I knew I had to do something about this, and the only thing I could do, now that I didn't have Internet access, was to concentrate on making my life more in line with my business for the sheer dedication to it and not have all the weights attached.

I have knocked out several large projects and obligations at this point but I still have a ways to go. I have also removed dead weight websites I had and one I have been managing for a friend, that saps my time. My efforts to clean this stuff up will probably take up all or most of the rest of this year but when it's over I will be able to soar like never before.

I knew I saw a more recent writing of yours somewhere in my resources on here! This was it. I apologize for not getting back sooner but have been very busy and forgot where I saw this. I recently found you've contacted me through my WA Space and thought that was it.

I hope your websites are doing well and that you are continuing to make progress with them. I myself, should definitely be making a full-time income for the time I've been here but I'm now working through the issues that have been preventing me.

Thanks for your reply!

Daniel

This is one heck of a piece of WA history. Thanks for sharing Daniel!

Sure thing :) I'm glad some are enjoying it.

Love it, thanks,

Very welcome :)

you make History an interesting read ...

Well thank you :)

Great read about the early days of WA Daniel, thanks:)!

I've captured a few tidbits. Before I knew it, the Forum was taken down and just thought it would be there forever through the special link they had. Bam! it was gone, history and all. From what I understand, it had been completely deleted.

I'm glad I stumbled across WA :)

Me too! I had (and still have) a subscription to Ryan Moran. It was through one of his links I found WA. I remember the day I found it and couldn't believe what I was seeing. What was here and the advertising was nothing like I had ever seen before.

It is a great university and community Daniel :)

Great show of will power to stay with WA through thick and thin.
Great post.

It hasn't been easy. Business isn't just building websites and putting content on them relevant to search engines and humans - it's a growing process for the business owner as well and much of the battles that come in this are not just in the technology, but within the owner himself. Outside circumstances, if left to flourish, can overgrow business success, and if left unchecked, will be like trying to grow wheat amongst the tares.

I have chosen not to let them grow together and am now doing necessary work to get rid of the weeds from my garden so it can be the best it can be.

I didn't know all this. Thanks.

Oh yeah, and more! At the time, the popular places to go were the "Internet Marketing Center," which is now out of business, the "List Crusade," still there - or is it? None of its web pages will load! ...and SiteBuildIt (SBI!) - It's still there, flourishing, but one look at results indicates many of the dated concepts of building campaigns still inhabit the halls of SBI! and it is missing many of the vitalities found on WA, such as cost-free personal one-on-one training and guidance, highly efficient website-building platform and up-to-date campaign-building strategies, all of which SBI! lacks.

Today there are now hundreds, of not thousands, of platforms out there that work, much like television networks ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS have grown into untold number of networks today, none of which can compare nor rival Wealthy Affiliate - absolutely none...

Yes, there is nothing like Wealthy Affiliate anywhere to be found, either online nor in universities.

Awesome Daniel,

Thank you for sharing some of the History of WA my Friend.

Happy 11th Anniversary to WA!

Tony

LOL! it was unfinished when I published it. I wanted to get it on and dated yesterday's date before midnight.

I'm going to find a few images to put with it. They're to be found online. I have a little bit of the Old Forum, but not near as much as I would have liked to have for the history found therein and the massive, VERY massive, collection of success stories that was there - and though the Old Forum ended, the success stories have not.

When I first found WA, I knew without a doubt that this place was for real and there was nothing artificial about it. It was indeed, the oasis in the Internet marketing desert, not only for me, but for many thousands.

I have always been into Wealthy Affiliate history. Sometimes I got into that when I should have been working on my campaigns, but what of it? WA is literally the only thing I promote right now, besides Jaaxy.

When I get old projects cleaned up to manageable levels, I will be adding new things to my campaigns, new niches and expanding my old ones like a phoenix.

Thanks for replying, even when my post was unfinished!
