Unprecedented Challenges: 10 Days to Get It Right

My progress continues to be slow due to external issues.

I have been dealing with an infected tooth. Initially, I went to my regular dentist and found the office closed. Not aware that it is closed on Fridays (of course this would be the day I needed them the most,) was forced to go to a walk-in dentist instead, which did not accept my insurance. This resulted in an unexpected charge of nearly $100 just to be seen! They prescribed medicine which was ineffective, allowing the infection to grow unimpeded. After a weekend of excruciating pain and sleepless nights, even tried to yank the tooth myself, I was at my dentist as soon as they opened. The dentist prescribed much stronger medicine, now starting to take effect.

As a result of the dreadful week, once again, I've gotten behind on everything. There is no question about it - a tooth infection is quite debilitating! Now that the medical issues are under control, I can proceed.

One of the things I have taken a few minutes to set up this morning is a new section in my Daily Checklist, an ongoing system I have developed a few years ago and with it have successfully gotten myself out of a number of tangled webs of massive, unfinished projects, satisfied ongoing unfulfilled obligations and have made major improvements to my living situation.

It is noteworthy that, without having created the checklist system in lieu of mentorship, I would not be where I am today. Built from trial-and-error, the system has the elements of goal-setting and implementation built in and is quite simple - a to-do list that is checked off as each item is completed. I have not placed time restraints in it and do what I can each day without overloading myself.

I use it for everything in my life that requires many steps to complete, things that can easily be overlooked and forgotten and the formation of new habits. Each section in this system has an objective. I usually write the objective at the start of any new section. When the section is started and underway, I remove the objective and reserve the space solely for the checklists in that section.

Business Section Long Overdue

This morning, in the midst of the turning tide, I still have plenty of unfinished projects, but these are now under control and the lion's share of what existed four years ago has been wiped off. It is time, and probably overdue, to have the Business section in place and moving forward with this. The objective, as written is as follows...

This new section will be dedicated to my business as an online affiliate marketer. This is long overdue. It will be set up as Old and New Business sections and whatever else is needed to suit this need. Any New Business will entail the current month's tasks and Old any backlog from previous months. This may change after the current Super Affiliate Challenge has transpired. This Section is currently all about Wealthy Affiliate and my progress with this. For now the Lists will conform to Wealthy Affiliate's. The prime objective of having this section is to have it in front of me on a daily basis as part of the daily regimen I go through. Everything related to business throughout this Daily Checklist will be moved here.

Whilst to some, this may look redundant because all one has to do is simply go onto the Platform and access these same lists, yes, this may be true. However I'm in the Daily Checklist every single day and, as said above, it's right there in front of me. I'm far more in the habit of working with this system than I am that of Wealthy Affiliate's therefore, better likelihood of getting the tasks done in a more timely fashion.

Does it take a little more work? Yes, but it offers me far better control over what's on my plate and that I can move things around to suit me the best. I am behind with the Wealthy Affiliate Super Affiliate Challenge, but still working at this. Unlike most of the rest of the Daily Checklist, the Challenge comes with time restraints to keep up.

Thanks for sharing, Daniel.

You are welcome :)

Checklists are definitely key to ensuring you complete the tasks that you need to. I never had to write things down, but then my cancer treatments messed with my head so much, I could barely think straight, which made remembering tasks and what was done or still needed to be done next to impossible. I now utilize a daily planner and have been slowly adding recurring tasks to certain days to hold me accountable to get things done. Cause if I depend on my brain, I will never complete the tasks that are needed to keep the momentum to build a successful business.

In the 1970s, on up into as late as the 2000s, I was into psychedelic drugs, marijuana and LSD. Sadly, this scenario did its share of dulling my mind. I have to work much harder to gain the same effects that I had before I got involved with the counter culture movement of the 1960s. I was going down fast in the latter days of drug abuse. I have made an about-face, but the damage is done and I will never have the cognitive abilities I once had. Nothing can be done today but to try to stimulate this the best I can and use remedies, such as a checklist system, to get things done.

It is further noteworthy that this isn't a band-aid for people with degenerated minds. Highly successful people deploy systems like this, and is part of many such lives, and you will find this, in varying forms, throughout business enterprise. They do it because it is a proven thing that works.

One of the worst things that resulted from the abuse is difficulty with short-term memory. I can't remember what I ate yesterday and many, many simple things like this. I've left many things undone, failed many promises and have been terminated from too many jobs from poor administrative skills and being unorganized. Sadly, this is part of business I would have to outsource today though I have improved these skills to some degree.

I have always had checklists and to-do lists, but what I started doing at one point here at WA was a primitive form of the Daily Checklist that I use today. That didn't go over very well with readership, but it did start me on something very needed in my life that I took into my private life.

I've got some massive dental expenses coming up, into the thousands of dollars that I don't have. This will be the bane of trying to get stuff done on here, now that I have to resort to more labourious projects to help with funds, but I will culminate with it and push that much harder at it.

That is true! It is just sometimes hard to admit to yourself that you need to write things down to hold yourself accountable. Of course, once you get over the stubbornness and commit to it, suddenly life becomes much more manageable.

It is sad that the need for such things must be based on admission. You are right. Most people don't do it because they look at it with dismay. However, smart people recognize that such things are imperative. Should this be part of the lives of those who want to succeed in whatever they are doing? A resounding YES!

Accountability is only a part of it. The main reason is to insure vital tasks get done, which is foremost.

I am so happy to see you still with us. You have been part of my early years at Wealthy Affiliate and one who refuses to give up. I respect anybody who comes here, but all the more those who stay with it for as long as they have. Just keep moving forward :)

Very nicely written

It's better now. I just put it through the correction process. Thanks!
