PayPal Reveals a Shocking Surprise.

I have been trying to find a book, Reviving the Ancient Faith: Churches of Christ in America. However, I do not like paperback books and have been looking for several days.

Long story short - the book is not available in hardcover. So, that's that - it's paperback or none.

I landed on a page on the Barnes & Noble site, looking for the book. The normal price is $36, more or less. This page said $24. However, all other pages were saying the former price. I called just now and the person on B&N had a page up with the book at $5, used of course. I asked her how to get to that page. She showed me and I found it.

This is where I was in for a BIG surprise!

I started my order for a $10 used copy that is in excellent condition. With expedited shipping and tax, brings the price to just over $18. It offers PayPal to purchase the book. Last looking, I had just over $22 there.

I went over there to see if I could make the purchase and found $213 sitting there, and turns out, I made a yearly subscription sale PayPal reflects as having occurred on January 1st!

I received no email notification, nor is it reflected in my WA statistics (best of my knowledge at this point, I have not yet looked for it.)

Needless to say, it is a happy surprise! Not only will I get the book through PayPal, I now have over half of my WA subscription for 2016. I can also get a couple more books I have been wanting, all used and at very low cost.

I have all WA notifications turned on and just wondering why I have not received a notification for this sale. Nonetheless, I'm very happy about it! Though my income has been very low, and now almost nil, I have had income every month since it started occurring early to mid 2013.

Throughout 2015, I have been gnawing away at massive unfinished projects that have been one of the things hindering me from consistently working my campaigns. This is spilling over into 2016, but at this time, I've knocked out a lot of stuff. Before 2015, I had more than this as a hindrance. I was also dealing with opposition from folks I was renting from about "farting around behind a computer rather than being out looking for a job."

Because I would not go out pounding the pavement in search of certain incarnation, even though I consistently kept up with the rent, etc, I was booted out of there for apparent defiance over this matter.

It was a blessing in disguise!

It's not over. I have new directions now, and as I chip away at the stuff still cluttering up my life, I will have the conditions in my environment as close to business-friendly as I can. As I get near the bottom of the unfinished project barrel, I will be picking up on my activity within my campaigns and here at WA.

I will explain to my referral what happened and personally welcome him/her in, even though the sale probably took place in November, and it went through the waiting period before it was submitted to PayPal.

Now I'm off to finish with my book order...

I like those kind of s urprises

I'm so happy for you Daniel. Last time I read something written by you you were thinking about not renewing your annual membership. YAY! You're going to stick with it. WA is SO worthwhile.

I do have my ups and downs with it. Within minutes after I had written that I thought it was time to let go, I went back on and removed it. I have not been checking my email carefully enough, or going down far enough to where notification for these payments occurred, and doing so, found three more issues that requires my immediate attention...

- Someone attempted to hack my Twitter account and Twitter intercepted it!

- I have a domain that is going to expire Sunday

-Amazon Web Services (AWS) is still billing me for server usage that I had drastically cut down on and should not have accrued the amount they charged me.

In two hours time, I've only solved one of the above problems. It's stuff like this that keeps coming up day after day that is sapping me the time I need to be resolving the things that are keeping me from putting the necessary time into my campaigns.

You see how far behind I am? I'm not one who can do more than one or two things at a time. This type of stuff is why I feel like it's just never going to happen and thus consider not renewing.

Had I known about this money on the 1st, I would have probably had that much more done by now. Albeit, I'm happy to have made the extra sale, and so I do count my blessings!

What a nice surprise indeed Daniel, I'm happy for you :-)

Thanks! I'm happy for me too!

That's awesome! It's always a nice surprise finding more money than you thought you had! Lol

Would have been nice to know I had this money last week as I was short on my rent at the time! I did, however find a way out of that situation and life goes on.

I think you will make it big some day Daniel, because if there was one thing I picked up about you is you are resilient, hard working and resourceful.Wishing you well my friend.

Over all, I do try to be resilient and know that my low times of depression and anxiety are there but they're gone in a few days and so, it is sort of like a roller coaster. I'm sure you can relate to this.

The steps I take are indeed, pitifully small, but in the overall, it all does add up. In about a year and a half ago from today, there is no resemblance whatsoever as to the life I was living to what it is now!

Those tiny baby steps!

Good to know you are on the up buddy.

Congratulations!!! Can't quite understand why you didn't get notification. But it's occasionally happened to me too, and I believe it sometimes happens when your internet provider has a problem just at the time the email was sent. The email(s) then seem to end up in 'No-mans-land' and can't find their way to their destination.

Nope, actually, they were there. They were buried under piles and piles of other WA emails! So in a way, you are right - they were in "No man's land." I shut off over half of the WA notifications as it does generate about 100 emails a day, including non-WA emails. That is due to the sheer reflection of the activity that goes on at WA every day!

I have had to do the same. The busier I am offline, the more WA emails I have to shut off. There's no point getting announcements about blogs if I know I won't have time to read any of them. But so glad you had a lovely surprise! Enjoy the new books. Happy reading!

What a pleasant surprise. Those are the best!!!

Yes! That sale is going towards my WA subscription and all the funds for it are now there.

Hey - that's a nice one! Congrats and what a way to start the new year!

It's the second thing to happen - this for the beginning of the year, and another incident for the end of last year!

I almost lost a $2,271 check from mistakenly using what I thought was an empty windowed envelope that a bill came in - not so!

The rest of the story for this one is here... I didn't want to repeat it again. It would have certainly made someone's Christmas, but certainly not mine!

Nice! This is just the beginning, Daniel! :-)

SFI is what usually surprises me. I get the unexpected paper checks frequently during the year. Nothing better than a check for doing nothing.

SFI was one of my earliest online attempts at business. I got away from it when I realized it was a multi-level marketing business model. It's like any other business of this sort. Takes a lot of effort to get the wheels to turn, but once they are, it's easier to manage.

It is one of the tasks of my Administrator. She does a good job. I haven't logged on in years.

Daniel, maybe you should check your email more often. Paypal sends an email every SINGLE time you receive money. Same with WA. You make a sale, get an email.....if it's a yearly sale, you get the email although the payout will be pending 30 days. Check your spam folders

Just saying......we old folks get a little thin in the brain department, sometimes ;-)

John

You are right - They are there. It's time to clean out these email accounts.

I just turned off 8 of the 15 categories. Hopefully this will tone the emails down.

Not that I don't check my email accounts, but that the WA notification emails get lost in all the WA-related emails I get. It's not unusual for something to get pushed down 100 places in a day, and all the emails start with "Wealthy Affiliate..."

My PayPal account is associated with an email account I rarely visit anymore. It's time to clean that one out as well and get unsubscribed from a ton of stuff that should have been done years ago. I have totally forgotten that PayPal sends notifications when a transaction occurs.
