New Challenges

In spite of this, the Great Depression of the 1930s harolds the birth of more successful businesses, that we still have amongst us, than ever - up to that time, and even after.

Therefore, there is NO excuse!

You never know when life is going to take a turn, when all seems well, and it becomes too easy to take for granted and opportunities have been passed by.

During the first four years here, I have been homeless three times. When not homeless, I lived in deplorable conditions, terrible Internet access and in an environment not suited to support a home-based business. I wrote blogs with these concerns, all off which have been removed. They were part of over 400 blogs and training I deemed were not suitable to be on here. I left only the most helpful and those most associated with the cause here.

During this four years, in these conditions, I managed to begin making Internet income promoting Wealthy Affiliate, but my performance has been seriously hindered by a number of things.

I got kicked out of my living arrangements a fourth time in 2014. This was over the fact that I would not get a permanent full-time job and drop the Internet business, not that I wasn't able to pay the rent.

Getting kicked out led to much better living arrangements, but I lost my Internet access for a year, relying only on very limited access, meant only for occasional email access and light use. My income continued throughout this entire ordeal, all the way up to the beginning of this year! Not one month went by without WA income! During the last Black Friday, no work put into this, I made more money than in any other month during this entire period! Last month I got one repeat sale and now, ziltch.

During this time I began doing what I could to knock out the things that had been getting in the way of business - unfinished projects and numerous obligations. That put my business on hold, even after relocating to where I presently live - with full reliable Internet access. This needs to be done, but my mistake - I put all of my efforts into this and none in my business under the guise that in so doing, was ultimately part of improvement in the way of business! I wanted to get this cleaned up but way underestimated just how big this was!

February is the first month I have not earned any online income due to trying to clean up stuff. That comes as no surprise as I have not been working on my campaigns. My main website is now dead. Another is unfinished, and in progress. A few other niche sites I have are dead and just sitting there.

Wham!

The BIG surprise comes in serious reduction in my monthly income, that is - other income and had to use my funding for this year's WA subscription I had accumulated to pay domestic bills.

I have not played my cards right, took things for granted, and now, once again, after an unbroken period of nearly four years, lost my online income as well. I have begun restoring my campaigns, but it might be too late now. I have a few weeks to recover the funds to continue my membership at Wealthy Affiliate. If it goes down this time, I have all of my websites here, there might be little I can do to bring this back.

My assumptions were - it would remain as it is and I will make it. I will clean up what's been hindering me and then go back to business once it's nearly cleaned up and I would be better able to do the work in my business.

Nope! Wrong choice!

The chance I had to build my business and income has passed! The old saying goes about life - When it rains, it pours. That it has, and I would have never wanted to think this most crucial time would be the unleashing of this.

I will be very fortunate if I get another chance! I do have about eight weeks to make this work! I will continue with restoration as if this hasn't happened, but I have a lot on my mind right now and these are the new distractions, the new set of circumstances and a new challenge.

If I can get past this, I will go above and beyond, and achieve a full Internet income, like I came very close to at times.

I wrote this to serve as a lesson on the inevitable that happens when one doesn't keep up with implementation of what is taught at Wealthy Affiliate.

...And you can be sure it will come at the most inopportune time!

Hi Daniel,
That is very true, the old saying "when it rains, it pours," but I believe that you can do it...you've done well in your past campaigns to keep getting money for as long as you did without working on them.

You've made an excellent point here...to stay focused on what truly matters, which is often very hard to do. I myself get distracted with so many things!

I'm probably not the one to give advice, but find the things that did work and keep doing that. Stay focused on the things that will get your campaigns and sites going again.

And, another thing, which I often forget to do myself, is to share the posts/pages to any social media sites you belong to. I've also found commenting on other people's stuff on social gets attention, especially if you mention their name in the comment...

Something I need to do more as well again...you know the old saying "practice what you preach" lol. Just don't spend too much time on the social sites though, which is my downfall much of the time.

Sorry for yet another long comment again...but, I know you can do it, Daniel!

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

When it comes from you Sherry, I don't mind long replies :) I do it myself all the time.

Yes, my campaign is in serious shambles now. I've let it go for some time and it has finally caught up with me. Surprisingly enough though, even though I stopped working on my website well over two years ago, the income still came in every single month - until this month!

I'm now trying to figure out what changes I need to make, but getting more involved with social media as taught here is one of them. I have to relearn a lot of things!

Some things, it's a never ending struggle to keep under my belt and I have to keep reviewing how to do them. Doing them on a regular basis would cure this problem.

Jay's webinar hit straight to the quick for me! One thing that sticks out more than anything else was one of his replies to me to get on point in my writing and not veer off in different directions, creating wordy articles. That is some pretty serious advice that I need to get ahold of!

I am very happy that you are sticking it out. You've been here for awhile, almost as long as myself. It greatly helps me to see there are still people I know on here. I'm not the fastest at making friends, though I have made new ones all along. I am trying to pick up on my activity on here, but I reserve that mostly to those I do know.

Hey Daniel,
I've noticed a bit of a drop in things on my niche site too...maybe I'm not writing as much...well, I know I'm not to tell the truth. My problem is just focusing on it and getting it done.

I also need to go back and update more of my older posts on my sites and cut out some of the lengthiness, it seems we're in the same boat I think. I know I tend to wander.

Yes, Jay's webinar was awesome! It drove home excellent points to myself as well. I was happy to see you there, I've been going to them every week for awhile now.

Well, I think I'll be here for a long time yet, if not forever. Hopefully, anyways...but, like yourself, there are times when things get really tough and things get thrown at us out of the blue. But, somehow we survive and stick it out.

Anyways, it seems I've done it again and gone on a writing spree...but, it's good to see you still here too! Keep us updated when you have time.

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Motivation is a problem and so are distractions. I have quite a share of it here where I live. A new neighbour moved in next door and as I hoped would not happen, is extremely noisy - at the worst time ever - at the time when I need to be sleeping.

Don't give up Daniel. What doesn't break us makes us stronger.
It sounds like you have had a lot to deal with, adapting in every way. I hope things turn around for you sooner than later and in a fantastic way!
Thank you for sharing your story. It's a lesson I will try and learn from.

The website went down again tonight like it did last night and my reply did not transmit. It's too late now. I will rewrite it tomorrow. Thanks for visiting! I followed you and it looks like that went through fine. :)

Hey Daniel- I've got a story, that I won't tell here, that kinda mirrors yours. Go read my blog entitled, 'I'm Tired, but Not Whipped'. It doesn't sound a lot like your story but that's because there's a whole lot more.

I remember this title. I think I may have already been there but I will go back over again. I might have seen the title but not read it...

I have never heard of IBOsocial, but have subscribed to IBOtoolbox a number of years ago. Having WA, I never used it.

I have learned much about the advertising industry and it is, as you say, full of deceit and there is very little truth in it, I recommend a critical thinking course for anybody on Wealthy Affiliate, and I think, at one time, I did write a blog about it on here. It was one which did not get read, or just a few hits, I don't remember now. It wasn't any big hit on here - but one can learn so much about, not only the rubbish that's out there, but what to do - and NOT to do. Of course, the best advertising I've seen yet comes from places like Wealthy Affiliate - if done according to what is taught.

That is one of the main reasons Wealthy Affiliate appealed to me in 2009 when I first saw it! By this time I had already been in a Logic course.

The American public had to be dumbed-down and it has gotten so bad that the average consumer doesn't know what's real and what isn't.

I enjoyed your article over there. We are on the same page in this regard. I can see where it differs from mine own experiences here, but see one thing - it's right up my alley on these other topics!

Hey man, thanks for coming over here! I have lost most of my readership here but I think in time, I will get it back, under a new audience. What you've said over there is VERY applicable to WA members!

Daniel

You say you've lost your readership here but you think in time, you'll get it back. I take that to mean that you'll still be engaging either here or somewhere else. Please let me know. I want to follow you.

You're certainly welcome to follow me here at Wealthy Affiliate if you've not yet. Yes, it's pretty slim right now. I had a sort of confrontation with another member but we've both resolved our differences gracefully. I once was in the Ambassador List, and for a time, listed #3. However, this was in ancient times here LOL! Most of the people in my network are now gone, so that's actually pretty small now.

Yes, I do want to restore everything, including my previous stance here on the Platform. I know this will take time.

Didn't you say that you weren't renewing here at WA? if so, even if not, why don't you let me guide you back to IBO. I've written about the Affordable Care Act, Ferguson, Michigan, Mandela and other topics, at least, touching on politics. The IBO group is more tolerant in that area. Can I expect to see you at IBO?

Yes. I still must learn about it. I'm pretty broke now. I will definitely be renewing so long as I'm able to get up the funds. This is why I may not be able to renew. I lost some of my regular income because of Medicare and was already short on the rent. I had to pay it with my WA money. It wiped 3/4ths of that out.

sorry to hear this however you have pulled it off before and you still can we can never take anything for granted in life, I do hope you can over come this and get back your regular income

Yeah, I have managed to pull it off in all years before I actually went yearly. At first it was a bear trying to keep up with the early $39 monthly payments when I had NO income!

I have already selected some items to sell on eBay. This will help.

I'm also going to have to cancel Jaaxy for two months, so I don't have that eating away at the remaining balance.

I have a couple jobs that will help bring up some of the funds.

I caught Amazon Prime JUST IN TIME - with 2 days to spare before that kicked in! Here, I tallied up my savings by having it...

I paid $99.98 last year to save less than $37! I won't be using this again! It's easy to forget about things like this and is why I had it the first year!

I might have a small amount of money left after paying bills.

Hopefully this will do it. I have eight weeks!

Following Jay's recommendations (from one of his live webinars) it's going to take awhile to get the main campaign back in shape, however, I will be able to build out the other one and these will be combined into one.

The others will be repurposed, including a website I have that will go along with my WA campaign - that which I've called "Wealthy Affiliate Magazine." This domain has been going for about two or more years with no content on it. It has its age now because actually, I think it's much more than 2 years!

I plan to work half-days with this, and to do this, I will have a publishing schedule for both websites - basically:

1 post per day for the new one
2-3 posts per week for the old one
repair 4-6 existing posts per week for the old one.
follow all the other guidelines in Jay's class.

When I have established this, I will connect the two together and set up an email campaign for it (Wealthy Affiliate Magazine.)

The new website will be a niche site featuring ONLY Wealthy Affiliate.

This website will replace the single review page for WA on the MAIN site. The main site will continue to be for product reviews as it has.

WAM will house all of the articles for the email campaign where I will be maintaining a list for my MailChimp account which I've not used yet, which is set for "use as needed."

sounds like you have it all worked out just double check with mail chimp though as they changed their rules and said no affiliate stuff

Yes, I will definitely check this. What I could possibly do with MailChimp is put links in the emails that don't directly go through an affiliate link, but to go to pages that contain the affiliate link - or, in my case, to pages that contain links that go to the main page (in my case, my Wealthy Affiliate review page) which contains the affiliate link.

This way, I am able to talk a little bit about a topic (such as one of my reviews) which in turn has a call-to-action section below talking about a "better solution" with a regular link to the WA review, witch has the affiliate link. That's two pages deep coming off the broadcast.

I'm wondering (and will check of course) whether this means, "no affiliate links in the emails themselves."

What do you think?

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm not quite ready for the email campaign yet anyway, and you might have more ready insights on the rules over there than would take me at this time, pressed with time.

I have to try to drum up work to do to help rebuild my funding for WA for 2017, so just trying to get stuff done on my campaign that is on the agenda today.

sounds good never thought of that way round things hope it all works out the way you want, you have the focus and experience to pull it off
