This was what the Dashboard looked like when I joined...

Today was kind of a rough day for me. The article I published was somewhat difficult but turns out to be one of my better ones.

I am working on a series of articles about Wealthy Affiliate. Some of it approaches the topic from a historical perspective.

In today's writing, I could not help but once again, elabourate on the almost unbelievable forces behind Wealthy Affiliate, how it came into being and what makes this membership site soar so far beyond anything else of its kind on the Internet.

It was a mere keyword list site however, like none other, this one came with two owners who worked very hard during their last year in college figuring out the quagmire that made up the affiliate marketing scene in 2005 and then committed to showing others how to do it.

I myself began digging into Internet marketing a year earlier and by the time Wealthy Affiliate started, I had hundreds of email subscriptions - all about marketing on the Internet. I stumbled into this when I came upon a small home business operation by Jim Capobianco. The website's name was CapTechTimes. This person got me started. I then had contacts with Jim Sraw and his Business Lyceum. From thereon - total confusion and meltdown from all the rest of the crap I was wading through. Both of the former are now passed away, but their legacies go on. Wealthy Affiliate was the next to come years after these.

95% of these marketers are long gone now. Most of them took their campaigns awry - customer seductions, false hopes, huge flashing dollar signs, half of them not knowing what they were doing, following leaders who insisted that the way to do all this was to cast their baited lines and snag the unwary, the prospective opportunists with no knowledge of what they were looking for, many of them hopelessly hooked by bait put in front of them, a real mess...

An awful, awful mess!

Recently I went inside Affilorama and did my research there. It's just an empty shell! The training is still there. There are members there, but the forum over there is eerily silent. Even a post from Mr. Ming himself does not compare with the most mundane blog post over here!

There just is no comparison.

The day I found Wealthy Affiliate in 2008 - it was nothing like I had ever seen before. I wanted so bad to join! In 2009, a friend brought WA to my attention again. She didn't think to highly of it, but I did. Never having been inside, I have had by this point some interaction with WA members, and that sales website - wealthyaffiliate.com. The straightforwardness of what was said - it was so far removed from the usual humdrum of hype and glitter found everywhere else.

This is what I write about when I work my campaign. It goes way beyond what I have here.

There's no doubt. I've had some rough times here. I've also not performed as well as I could have. In spite of this, and for nearly three years of not writing a single article, I still have an unbroken income - something I never had before I joined back on January 1, 2010.

I am extremely proud of Kyle and Carson, and the community here. What we have here comes from hard work - work done with utmost passion - just like the early days when Kyle and Carson untangled the mess they had in front of them and then sought to show others how.

I have been a member here now for almost eight years. I have known about Wealthy Affiliate for almost 10 years. I would have loved to have known back in 2005 and joined back then.

It would have been a great honour to me.

I love Wealthy Affiliate and those who comprise it. There's nothing like this place anywhere - not even close.

I only got one article published today. It got almost double the size it needed to be, but I needed the space. I am slowly getting back into the groove. I will get caught up. I won't crowd myself nor will I sacrifice speed for quality. I share in the worthy ideals of Kyle and Carson though I have disabilities.

Do you love Wealthy Affiliate?

I know you do. I've seen many tears from members who, for some reason, could not continue. I've seen this in new members who never got the chance to become Premium.

I consider myself fortunate I found this place. Though I have not much in the way of monetary value to show for it, Wealthy Affiliate has had great influence on my life and I have been changed forever because of Kyle and Carson.

I hope that someday, I can meet these men in person...

Hello, Daniel

Thanks for a very inspirational post. I agree fully. WA is not like any other online marketing business out there. The platform gives us all the necessary wherewithal to be successful. It is up to us to make the time to do the work. Of course, this is a great business to work on full-time. But if you cannot, it works just as well part-time. All it requires is making the time, which is what I try very hard to do. It has been difficult, but I see progress and look forward to the day when I will be doing it full-time. I cannot wait!

Yes, Sir! I do love it here. Sometimes my days are dreary, until I sit here and engage. Then the spirit rises; the good mood returns; and I work.

Awesomeness!
Mojalefa.

The work can be quite hard in here and SEO quite temperamental. Nothing like this can be found anywhere and as a business platform, it's not just a learning place, but a fully-equipped resource and tools platform as well, not to mention the layers of support here. I've made some awesome friends here over the years.

Daniel

I fully agree.

Awesomeness!
Mojalefa

Awesome post Daniel, and thanks for sharing that image of the OLLLLLD WA. It is amazing to look back at that, it feels like such a distance memory but at the same time ever iteration of WA has been the evolution of our ideas, your ideas, and the community as a whole.

It has been wonderful to get to know you over the years and we are really looking forward to years ahead!

The story of Wealthy Affiliate is truly a classic example of entrepreneurship in every way, as I too, aspire to become.

From what I have gathered from the Internet, The membership had already reached about 50 people on board, plus more during the next three days before the Sept 10th official launch date. It must have come as a shock to you and Carson at how rapidly the pre-launch WA was populating that prompted the addition of the first stand-alone forum software to the Platform. [Source: https://www.visualistan.com/2017/04/history-of-wealthy-affiliate-infographic.html ] Note: I believe this source does contain some errors.

I also have images of the early Beating Adwords squeeze page, with its simple red header banner, one dating to late November 2005 (pre-sale) and the other (Jan 1, or about that time, 2006) the launch of that product.

I am working on a series that features the historical aspect of Wealthy Affiliate in their introductions. I have images of the Dashboard all the way back to WA2.0. I do know, from the first few posts and earliest members that you referred to a Resources Section. I often start my installments with a historical backdrop for two reasons.

The image of the earliest Dashboard/Platform (top fold only) would be a wonderful addition to my campaign! I use the historical perspective as a spin-off to showing how stable and powerful Wealthy Affiliate has been over the years. Unlike any other, Wealthy Affiliate has never faded. No images of the earliest exist on the Internet anywhere that I have been able to find. I have been looking for it for years now.

I have more passion for Wealthy Affiliate than for any other product, service or website. It has been, and always will be my main campaign. I am winding up resources in order to write a book about Wealthy Affiliate. I was involved in historical research on the old Forum when suddenly hit a 404 page. It is tantalizing that the Forum still exists on the Internet Archive but can't be accessed.

I am looking forward to seeing you in person some day. Thanks for commenting!

Hi, Daniel.
Paul here from Canada.

I really like where you are starting to go with your direction in relationship to the History not only of WA but also related resources.

I just recently published a couple of pages on my new site regarding the WA history.

Here's a snippet from one of the pages:

Better Business Bureau – Wealthy Affiliate

Products & Services:

Wealthy Affiliate offers new and aspiring entrepreneurs assistance in building websites, getting search engine rankings, and generating revenue. They offer expert training, support and coaching along with the essential tools needed for starting a successful business online. They are ‘The Real Deal.’

The Wealthy Affiliate is not new.

It was created in 2005 by a couple of very ambitious young gentlemen who met while at University in British Columbia, Canada. They became good friends and shared a lot in common as both were enrolled in the Computer Science program and both had been Affiliate Marketers selling other people’s products since around 2002.

I think you get the gist.

You have been here for a very long time, so you have first hand experience in the evolution & growth.

Onward and upward my friend.

To mutual success.

Regards and respect from Canada.

Paul.

I do appreciate this :) I would like to see your finished article. Yes, I am very into the history here. It is very interesting to say the least and there is no doubt that Wealthy Affiliate is one of a kind. One day, Kyle wrote a blog post. Not sure if it was on here or on the Official Wealthy Affiliate Blog. He entitled it,

"We're on MARS! What's YOUR excuse?"

I have only seen a handful of people like Kyle and Carson in my lifetime. There's not many like these to be found. Anybody who finds this place needs to consider how fortunate they are and to promptly get down and do the work they ask us to do.

I am marking time on this now...

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Daniel.

I'll PM you the article.

Have a glorious day.

Paul.

I appreciate that :) You may have sources that would help me with my book.

No worries,
I'm just touching it up a little for easier navigation.

Patience has its virtues.

Cheers,

Paul.

It amazing me that some of the strongest supporters of WA are members who haven't made much money...myself included. I think that is a testament to the value of our membership...we aren't over promised anything but WA over delivers in so many other areas.
Debbie

From my observations, there are some others out of the best pickings available outside of WA that have the sense not to make overpromises and downright scams.

One of the greatest values about Wealthy Affiliate is the very onset of getting exactly what is shown and being told up front that being successful doesn't necessarily come easy and takes lots of work and tenacity.

There is an affiliate network called Clicksure (the earliest members and founders having been ousted from Clickbank in 2011) that today, are plumb full of pirates. In any given month, thousands of opportunity-seekers find these bogus offers and fall into them. The end results are staggering. They stay in business because there is an endless supply of what Barnum Bailey once said are "suckers."

It is a sad scenario. I have a number of reviews on my website on these products. I don't go after the products themselves but aim to expose the logical fallacies that are in common use, which are very powerful and systematically rob, mostly Americans, of their hard-earned money in return for pure junks.

When I first found WA, I didn't know about this network because it didn't exist yet, but at the time, Clickbank and other affiliate networks were crawling with these insects. When these marketplaces realized this was hurting their reputation, they cleaned house.

I think most of us have been ripped off at one point or another on these supposed money-making programs. It turns most people off and is why, when people approach WA, they're skeptical.

At that time however, I was already well aware of logic and argumentation, especially in advertising and when I found WA, I was shocked at the honesty and matter-of-fact approach in the advertising done here - and further, is taught.

In all of my time here, Wealthy Affiliate has never ceased to amaze me, and I do not take this for granite.

Hi Daniel
Well written and thanks for the background!
Yes, I have also waded through all that quagmire on the internet too and fully agree, nothing compares to what we have here at WA! This really is something to be cherished!
Wishing you all of the very best, Daniel!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Well thank you Sharlee :) There's not much out there at all. Even the best there is besides WA is woefully lacking. From what I find, they all teach basically the same thing - Do launch after launch, build email lists and then sell the tar out of them using whatever means you can - seduction, swipe files, sales videos that tell you to turn your speakers up real loud to hear the misinformation. It hasn't changed and you know what?

It still pulls the wool over the eyes of multitudes and folks, mostly Americans are targeted with this stuff. I've seen it first hand. I've got reviews of these bad products and see the lies one after the other.

It's sick!

Hi Daniel

I agree! Hubby signed up for a free account with another IM'er, in order to do a review, it is somebody that we know from way back when... and same thing. He was SHOCKED to see how watered down, small and pathetic it has become!

Yes, you're right, it is amazing how many people still falls for that. Which, unfortunately, means that WE (you, and I and everybody else who does Bootcamp), is not doing a good enough job yet. ;-)

May you enjoy a lovely day, Daniel! (Whichever of the 24 hour cycle you are in.)

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

It's almost 3 am. I need to go to bed because I've got some finishing up to do and more articles to write. Good night Sharlee :)

Oh my goodness Daniel! There goes your beauty sleep! You'll get wrinkles if you to sleep that late! ;-) LOL! Have a good rest, Daniel! ;-)

Yep. I did sleep late but the only wrinkles I got was the impressions from the sheets. I'm up, found out that my electricity, which is due tomorrow, shot up $10 (highest it has ever been) and is more than I have at this point!

There's always something to make me growl. I've got to take more time away from my work to deal with this issue.

Financial freedom is not the top-most priority in my life, but it sure would be nice! There is an RPG video game I have been wanting, and it's now on sale. It goes off the sale in less than five hours. It goes without saying that now I've got to forgo the video game and then further, try to come up with the $6 I'm short on the electric payment. It's already pending so there's no way to reverse that nor will taking a time extension help. It's too late. Of course, we know what happens then - an NSF bank fee on top of that because it will be drawn.

Once again - haggling over single figure amounts here which will take out half of my day! Then, I have a pre-scheduled engagement this evening. Sheesh!

I get one article completed today, I will be fortunate.

Now that I've been on here, and did little more than build out the framework of my next article, have to take the time to fix this issue, so I might as well get started. It's not going to go away on its own.

Hi Daniel

Sorry to hear about the financial hassles....

But like Robert Kiyosaki (from the 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' books) would have said... at this stage of the game, it sounds like the RPG game would only have been a "Poor Dad" decision.

A "Rich Dad" decision would be to now hunker down and rather invest the "game time" into your online business. Later, when you constantly earn enough from your online business to support yourself, you can afford to pay full price for the game, and afford to spend the time playing it.

I know that is not exactly what we want to hear, but hey, you're smart enough, I bet you have known this deep down inside already. ;-) It is just human for us to want to cop out and head for the easy exits, but calm seas don't produce good sailors, right? ;-)

Wishing you all of the best, Daniel, I know you have what it takes to turn this situation around! I believe in you! ;-)

eHug to you!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I am aware of Robert Kiyosaki and have most of his books, including Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I agree with what you said however, I don't think the book indicates a complete denial of occasional treats, which is what the game purchase would have been for me.

One thing I had forgotten about was that it was the first of the month and didn't realize right away that there were Wealthy Affiliate funds in my PayPal account. This covered the electricity.

Considering that I never go to theaters, sporting events, concerts nor anything of that nature, nor do I look at television, I do play RPG games when I have time (which is seldom)

I did not purchase the said RPG game because it went off sale before the announced 5 hours were up. Now that I had the funds for it, I thought it was okay to go ahead and purchase it. That would have been extra funds, but then I discovered shortly after that it was a good thing I didn't even purchase the game on sale because one of my domains would have expired two days before I would have had the money to pay for that. Part of my WA income went to satisfying electricity, which has posted earlier today, and part paid for the domain renewal. The remainder is still in PayPal.

It's a VERY good thing I didn't purchase the game. It is still on my Wishlist and waiting until it goes on sale again. I realized before it was too late that this was not the time.

Wealthy people, including Robert Kiyosaki, put their liabilities on the back burner, which is totally opposite to what everybody else does (rent, utilities, always come off the top.) Of course, they can easily do that. It's dangerous for any of us who make just enough money to live and just a little besides to do that simply because one never knows when an unexpected expense comes up.. That game has been on my Wishlist for some time and, yes, due to the above fact, spending the money on an RPG game is risky.

Listening to music on the radio, watching educational videos and collecting RPG games are my entertainments. These are wants I know, but everything else I own are needs, not doodads. Playing the games does take me away from my work, but we all need that sometimes, and I don't go into them until all the business is done. That usually means I get to play them every two months or so. I have the music on very low during work, usually classical music on the local station here. Most times, like right now, I don't have anything playing.

Other than the RPG games, I am not much of a fan for fiction. I do not like comedy and even worse, advertising commercials on television and radio, which I hate with a passion. That alone keeps me away from television. To me, sports, most television shows and actually all of entertainment, provides no value whatsoever, and is purely for consumers.

I will watch Star Wars when those come out. Star Wars are the only discs that I own. I don't have any music media at all. I got rid of all that stuff two years ago to minimize my personal possessions down to things I need and use every day. It makes for far better control, organization, easier house cleaning and far less to keep track of. It's easier to find stuff without having to rummage through a bunch of nostalgia and things not used very often. There's much less to deteriorate and far more peace of mind.

I have about one-third of what I owned five years ago, and before that time, lost over half of what I owned to weather and thieves. I do know what consumerism is and despise it when businesses and government address me as a consumer.

Purchasing the game would have been a bad decision only because something (the domain) needed attention and out of the circumstances above, I wound up not getting the game and it was for the better.

We need to treat ourselves sometimes. For me, that doesn't happen often. I thought it was the right time but it wasn't. This great big thing here is to see a little bit more about me and that yes, sometimes I do splurge, but I think most everybody does.

I would not know what I know except for Kyle and Carson, Robert Taylor, J.F. (Jim) Straw, Robert Kiyosaki, John Cummuta, Dave Ramsey, and a few other choice entrepreneurs. I stay out of stores unless I really need something, do not carry any credit cards and never did. I'm not rich but nor do I have any debts!

The ONLY time I will ever use credit is when it is what is known as "debt service" that investors use to purchase assets. I will NEVER use credit (aka consumer credit) to purchase end-user products nor anything that equates to liabilities (as apposed to assets.)

Do you know many people use their credit cards to buy food and go to restaurants??? Bad! VERY BAD!

Daniel

Hi Daniel

It is always nice chatting to you! ;-) I really enjoy our thoughtful conversations, thank you! ;-)

> I don't think the book indicates a complete denial of occasional
> treats, which is what the game purchase would have been for
> me.
Oh my goodness, NO! ;-) I'll go into a full blown tantrum if my ICE CREAM would be taken away! ;-) LOL!

> One thing I had forgotten about was that it was the first of the
> month and didn't realize right away that there were Wealthy
> Affiliate funds in my PayPal account. This covered the electricity.
Amazing! WOW - one can really always count on WA, isn't it? ;-)
I'm so happy for you that WA saved the day, Daniel! ;-)

> Rich people .... put their liabilities on the back burner,
Yes, like you, I also fully understand their reasoning for doing so, but heck, I still prefer to (and do) get our liabilities out of the way first of all! Otherwise it keeps on harpering in the back of my mind - just like clutter of a different sort - something that I definitely don't need. The quicker I can get rid of a bill, the better in my books.

> Considering that I never go to theaters, sporting events, concerts
> nor anything of that nature, nor do I look at television, I do play
> RPG games when I have time (which is seldom)
LOL - I get what you say, Daniel. ;-) Hubby always says he doesn't smoke, drink or do drugs - thus he eats ice cream. ;-) LOL!

Sounds like we enjoy listening to the same type of music. ;-) Although I don't often have the radio on, since there's not a station (here in our corner of paradise) that I know of that don't have a bunch of talking in between, which I'm not particularly fond of.

LOL - O my goodness - sounds like you are just as 'bad' as we are, when it comes to watching TV! ;-) I didn't grew up with one - my parents detested that everybody were just watching the screen and not talking to each other anymore. And Hubby and I don't like a TV either, so nope, we really don't miss it. ;-) Whatever we want to see, we watch on the internet. And we in any way only watch educational stuff, documentaries, seminars, etc.

> minimize my personal possessions down to things I need and
> use every day. It makes for far better control, organization, ......
> There's much less to deteriorate and far more peace of mind.
YES! Isn't that amazing, Daniel? When we down-scaled we also found the same thing. All of a sudden it felt like a HUGE burden fell from our shoulders. Difficult to explain, but I know you know what I'm talking about. I felt as if I physically was lighter - and no, it is not because I lost weight! ;-) LOL! And isn't it amazing when one start keeping track of what is really used, how little that is? We were surprised! Down-scaling made a huge, positive difference in our lives! ;-)

> I would not know what I know except for Kyle and Carson,
> Robert Taylor, J.F. (Jim) Straw, Robert Kiyosaki, John Cummuta, > Dave Ramsey, and a few other choice entrepreneurs.
Yes, these are all such big souls, who have made such a BIG difference in the world through their contributions! The world definitely would have been much deprived without them, that is for sure!

> I stay out of stores unless I really need something, do not carry
> any credit cards and never did. I'm not rich but nor do I have any
> debts!
LOL - I'm not a "shopping-girl" either. ;-) I view it a bit differently - because you have no debt, you ARE rich, Daniel! Most people can't fathom living debt-free - but is such a liberating feeling. And besides, if it isn't paid for, it is not "theirs" to start with - it belongs to the Bank! And yes, I know all too well about "good debt" and "bad debt" - but I still prefer "no debt". ;-) LOL!

> Do you know many people use their credit cards to buy food
> and go to restaurants??? Bad! VERY BAD!
[shocked] Yes, I know! Shocking, isn't it? I worked in a high profile position at a financial corporate... part of my job was to give advice and evaluate people's financial position, and sometimes it was just purely the TIMING of purchases that caused their financial demise. Had they waited a little longer... the outcome often could have been so much different.

It was lovely chatting, Daniel! ;-) Now I better get working! ;-)
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I absolutely enjoyed our convers here! LOL I spent much of my time researching stuff I really didn't need to be into yesterday and didn't get any of the real work done!

Today is all article day.

There's so much to do! I got a harrowing message yesterday! I can't get into my Analytics Console for some reason but I got an email report, which I will be looking for help here on - even after the many years I've been here.

Average Session: 48 seconds
Bounce rate: 92%

Something is seriously wrong here. Not sure what it is, whether it's my writing, it's how the website looks, lack of call to action, or what the matter is.

I hardly think it's call to action (though that might be weak) because people are not getting through my articles. The Average Session seems to indicate that. It seems it would take at least a minute to get through an article.

Coming to think of this, I have not had any new invites in quite a long time, even with the renewed activity on my website in putting out new content.

This issue is not new. Bounce rate for me has always been on the high side but it's as high or higher than it I have ever seen it.

My next blog is going to be about this. I may have to stop writing for a while and start looking through the resources here to try and bring this issue to the surface and also the site health as well, as that isn't that great either. Probably the first place I go is over into Jay's resources. I will most likely find something over there exactly dealing with this issue.

Every day, something new to deal with!...

Thanks for the long haul here! It was fun :)

Daniel

Hi Daniel

That will be interesting to see what you come up with as the reason or conclusion for the bounce and session rates.

Oh my goodness, if you think YOU still have much to learn about that.... I guess I don't have a clue yet! ;-)

LOL - every day something new to deal with - so true! We also got a snag that we are busy sorting out!

Yes, thank you, I also enjoyed the conversation - but only a short reply today - running out of time! ;-)

Wishing you all of the very best, Daniel! ;-)
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Hi Daniel

What did you manage to see regarding those website figures of yours?

Did you find training about it? Can you forward a link please? Hubby checked his stats tonight and he also needs to look at his website and figure out what to improve.

Wishing you a lovely day, Daniel!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I have not yet gone into this. I had another hard drive crash yesterday and spent almost the entire night trying to recover data off it. I lost an entire directory full of many days of work!

This happened on an older external volume. I am still trying to work with this and it has once again, gotten in the way of getting work done, so now I am behind one article, and if this persists through today, will be behind three by the end of the day. I have two backups, but unfortunately 10 of the files (the same ones in both locations) got corrupted, and the hard drive that crashed had all good files. I am trying to recover these now so I don't have to completely recreate them - a good two day's work! This entails videos that would have to be re-recorded.

Data recovery software is now scanning the affected volume. I am going to need to completely get everything off this volume, move the surviving data to other locations, reformat the volume in Linux and then put the data back onto it. Apparently this is part of the problem. I have not gotten completely out of Windows yet and going back and forth between the operating systems is causing corruption.

Windows likes to wreck files that were created in Linux and Linux doesn't have adequate resources to properly handle NFTS volumes, so though it can access them, it can't fix any problems that may occur. I learned the hard way that the external drives probably need to be unmounted before getting out of one operating system and into the other.

It looks like this is going to take a while, so maybe I can be writing the article which is make-up from yesterday and then get today's done.

Daniel

Hi Daniel

Oh no! [sigh] Argh! Computer problems and data losses are the last things that we want, isn't it? At least you are learning valuable lessons from it! And thanks for sharing, since we are learning too. Can't have too many backups, can we?

Wishing you all of the very best - may you faultlessly recover all your data, Daniel!

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Nope, it's gone! I've got to completely re-record all those videos. I spent four hours trying to retrieve the data and in that time could have done three of the recordings. Lost the four hours and still have all of them to do.

I did however, manage to get four articles written, two of these were make-ups and the other two yesterday's. It's just the texts however, no images, SEO, SM nor published. I have the lesson to go through yet, all of the tasks to do and today's articles to do, plus the work on those.

One article became so long I had to break it down into two. It's still so long I have to break it down a third time, but that's okay! That will be one of today's articles! I still had more to say and so these will become a series of three articles! I am very happy with how it came out considering this keyword has a monthly search rate of over 1000! The QSR is excellent and the competition is very low! You don't find those very often!

I'm going to have this one out where it can be found easily for some time to come.

Hi Daniel

Argh! I felt my heart sinking into my shoes when I read your reply about the data that's gone. Sorry about that! I hate that sinking feeling when the realization that it is gone, sets in. (Does it sound like I'm speaking from experience?)

But I must say, much respect to you, Daniel, for not letting it keep you down and for not dwelling on it, but continuing to write posts! Well done! That is truly to be admired for!

OE WOW - that sounds like a great keyword and to be able to write that much about it - AWESOME!

With the videos that have to be re-done... at least you now have the opportunity to make them better than what you've had before! ;-) What can you add, what can you do differently, to make it better?

Wishing you much success, Daniel!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Always good to hear from you, Daniel. I love Wealthy Affiliate too. I've been a premium member for over 4 years now. My how time flies.

Yes, it sure does. I remember when you first came. You are amongst the best writers on here, and very helpful too. I had my day of these things. Long ago all the way up to third place on what is now the Ambassador List. A lot has come down since I only know a very few on here now but I continue to see the same spirit as it was when I first joined. It's gotten much bigger but this community continues to remain very unique.

Soon as I start making some money, then I'll start loving Wealthy Affiliate. I'm in the liking stage right now.

It took me almost three years, but once it started, it did not stop, even to this day. Keep at it. I don't know how long you have been here. Some people can do it in six months, others a lot longer. Your day is coming.

I thought my day was today, but the gave me an example of how it looks when I get paid. I was like man, I wish I actually got paid. I've been on here for almost 3 years. Iv quit my day job, Target. A so-called company ran by stupid people at the top. Here we all get to the top.

Well, in some ways you have found freedom but like myself, I quit my job too early and wound up homeless because of it. It was not a good move. I hope that you are doing okay after leaving there. I know employment sucks but reality sets in very fast. I hated my job. Here I was, 50 years old and people younger than myself telling me when I could use the bathroom and when I couldn't. I ventured out of my working area sometimes, just going a different way and would get reprimand, being called to the office because I came in two minutes late. I used to hate getting a star next to my name because I was a "good" employee that day, that I used to remove the stars. Yes, I do not miss those days!

I just hope you are able to see yourself through. I know that after I quit my job, I couldn't do the work on here because I was too busy trying to scramble looking for odd jobs to try to pay my rent and eat, etc. Just keep looking forward and don't look back. You will make it

When I Target, I already have another job. My leg started to hurt me real bad. I still went to work. I also have a problem with my right that I showed all my managers. I went to the hospital in late September of 2017. I spent 3 months off work nursing my injury. The injury is diabetic related. I'm off work for 3 months, then soon as I get back, I get a corrective action. Here it is January and they were talking about what happened back in September. I said I came back in one day and you gave me a corrective action. A week later, when I went back to the wound care center the ulcer came back. I asked myself should I go back to Target or not. That's when I put in my notice and said I quit. I got sick and tired of them picking on me for no reason what so ever. I put in my notice that same week as Martin Luther King's birthday (MLK Day). Then I chose not to work there anymore because they are going to take me back to the office again and they'll do it at the last minute so I don't say anything. They know I have a bus to catch. I just went in there and I handed in my badge and told the manager I quit. Before I go I want to tell you something. The buses do not run on Labor Day, I requested off and the management approved it and they still put me on the schedule. The buses don't run on Labor Day, so I had to catch a cab. I live on the other side of town. This town is a fairly big town. It's not as big as Baltimore or DC, but it's big enough to have a minor league baseball team in it. The cab cost me $36 round trip and they only scheduled me for 4 hours. I came in and not 1 person didn't even thank me for coming in after spending $36 round trip. It'll cost me the same price on Greyhound to go to Baltimore and back. Baltimore is 50 miles east from here. Target is about 5 miles south of here. I already have a job at night that pays more money and treat me with more respect. Now I'm out of work for about 3 months against because of amputation of my right big and second toe. My coworkers came by and see how I'm doing. I think that was nice of them. nobody else is doing it. That's a shame.

That's awful you have the diabetes. I had a friend who had a perpetual sore down near his ankle that would not heal. It sounds similar to your case. He had to have the leg amputated half way up the shin. I don't know if he got a prosthesis but it seems at one point I hear that the leg had to be amputated again. I feel sad for you and yes...

Employers don't care how you get there and in your case, taking the taxi that far and for that expense for a low paying 4-hours is totally ridiculous, especially that they didn't even show any kind of gratitude. Well, that's how it is for the service worker.

I really hope you can make affiliate marketing work because this would get you off your feet. Have you looked into disability? I know that's not the best way to go, but it would allow you to not put so much stress on your body, especially your legs, and you could put much more time into writing. I am on disability myself, not for a physical aliment, but social. I make income here every month but it's not as I would like it to be. I do suffer social retardation from the terrible time I had as a child. At my age now, the only thing I can do with my own issues is to make the best of it and try to do what I can. I have poor administrative skills which also makes me not a good candidate for employment.

It is extremely hard for me to stay on target. I have to work extra hard to do the work. It took me most of the day to do the one article I did. Yesterday I did two, but though the writing is completed, the images, SEO and social media for them is not. Same is true with today's article (or actually, because we are now into the next day, yesterday's. and the day before's.

If you need any help of any kind, I will be there for you to perhaps make enough difference to help you start making income on here. I don't know what your other job is (the night work) but it purely sucks having part of your body suffering and having to do that every day.

I'm so glad that you found Wealthy Affiliate. You have lots of support on here. Find yourself a niche and an affiliate site and do your thing. I just have an ulcer on my big toe and the second toe. It is actually healing, but slowly. I have a wound vac to help it heal faster. It's actually working. I'm going have to do better on my website so I can get more customers and more traffic.

I've got two websites going. I had one "Saturweek" that I created in 2012 and never developed it. It was due for domain registration so I did that today and put the first article onto it (my first article of the day) and then went to the other website and wrote today's for that one. Both are published now.

I really wish I had found Wealthy Affiliate sooner, but late 2008 was my first time and finally joined on New Year's Day, 2010.

It is roughly estimated that by 2011, revenue earned by Wealthy Affiliate members by this time, from the very beginning, was somewhere in the 100s of millions! Imagine what that is today!

Compared to what we have now, the early WA members had very little to work with, but more than anyplace else at the time. People way back, when there were only the weekly keyword lists and a Resource area specializing in AdWords and places like Clickbank, and instructions on how to build a website (there was no WordPress at that time!) some members were making five-figure incomes!

Speaking of WordPress, not long before that content management system got started, Kyle and Carson formulated a module-based website building platform. What was it called? You might have guessed...

Site Rubix!

I used it for my first Wealthy Affiliate campaign website but I didn't like it and went back to hand coding my websites again. It just did not turn out near as good of websites as hand-coding but they were functional and didn't look too bad.

The idea behind the platform was to get folks putting together their websites very rapidly compared to coding them in an editor - a process that often took days or weeks to develop! This was to get members focused on content, not coding.

I will be discussing this in an installment of my current Series I'm doing. right now I'm working on coverage of the training here.

WordPress came out and Site Rubix was scrapped.

As you know, Site Rubix is of course, back, brought back to life like the phoenix had visited it, now based on WordPress.

For as long as I have been here, I find, even with the issues I've had, there is no excuse why I don't have at least a full-time income. Well, I'm on my way to making this happen and get off the disability so I'm not having the government telling me how much and how much I can't make.

My main campaign is Wealthy Affiliate. Nothing more in the marketing world do I have the passion that I do for this place.

I never heard of a wound vac. Is this something you put on the wound and get all the air out? I'm going to look that up. I've got places on the backs of both legs that have been one step away from being open sores, both just above the ankle and just below the calf muscles (wow! took me a few tries to spell that word!)

I am borderline, if not now, diabetic myself. I'm assuming this is why I have those tender areas. If I scratch them (they itch) they bleed very easily and take a very long time to heal.

Any idea what I'm dealing with here?

Do you frequently go to the bathroom and have rapid weight loss?
I have 2 websites. One is on fantasy sports and the other has something to do with diabetes.

Nope, I go to the bathroom frequently more because I eat too much and got overweight. I've probably gained almost 100 pounds in the last two years. I was pushing my brother's broken down full-sized pickup during a rain storm, to get it out of the road and damaged my right leg when it made a loud pop.

I ripped one of the cartiledges (actually a tendin) away from the back of my knee it was attached to trying to push the truck and steer it at the same time. Now I'm having all kinds of problems with it and going lame. I am much less active now because of this and can't afford to have the surgery it needs to restore it. It's now atrophy'd.

I left you a message over there on your WA Space. I got a kick out of the wording you have in your biographic. You left out the letter "L" in "play." Read it. It will probably make you laugh as well because there's a lot of truth to it the way you wrote it :)
