Awesome Surprise Transferring Domains to WA!

I waited until the first of my domains on NameCheap came up for renewal. Well, two of them were ready for this, expiring next week, so I took the plunge in transferring them to Wealthy Affiliate. I found this experience very easy and straight way!

The first awesome thing I discovered is that WA has a shopping cart in which you put your prospective domains, allowing one to get them all set up to go and then starting the process on all of them at once!

I decided to put five of my domains in the shopping cart, even though I had significant time left on three of them. There are three more domains left at NameCheap, one, an old domain belonging to my old landlord, two, a similar domain I acquired but no longer wanted, so I moved my landlord's website to that one, and three, another domain that I'm dumping.

"Ready to Transfer"

All five domains I am keeping in the shopping cart were followed by the status, "Ready to Transfer." I hit the button, "Transfer All." You can transfer one at a time if you choose.

The pricing, duration of time for domains to be active, credential details all come up in steps. Each step follows upon the completion of the one before. I chose two years. I found the registration of domains here at WA to be a little more expensive, but it's worth it to me in that it's all in one place with all my online presence needs!

"Domain Awaiting Transfer Authorization"

Now out of the shopping cart, the list of five domains show the above status. At this point, there is no need to refresh the page to see if the status changed. It changes on the page in real time. In about five minutes the statii for all five reverted to:

"Check Email and Click Authorization Link"

Not the exact wording but similar. This is the email that will save you hours or even days for the domain to transfer! It is a MUST. From my understanding, some domain registrars do not provide this email and the long wait must be endured.

NameCheap and Hostgator provides the email. Otherwise, I do not know which ones do and which ones don't, but I suspect the larger, more popular registrars do.

I clicked the links found on five separate emails and within minutes, the status for all the domains reverted to:

"Domain Awaiting Transfer Initiation"

Nothing more to do, unless for some reason you want to cancel, which is provided in case you do. In several minutes, they began reverting to:

"Transfer in Progress"

Awesome! At this point however, there's no turning back. The cancel link disappears. In under ten minutes it goes green:

"Transferred Successfully"

They're OUT OF THE OVEN! They're done. All of my domains are on today, August 1, and set to expire on this date two years from now!

But wait - no they're not...

I found the emails about successful transfer in my WA email notifications. They give a different scenario and is where the big surprise comes in...

You don't lose the time you had left on your old registrar account! This remains intact and the renewal dates do not change.

AWESOME AGAIN!!

If you want to transfer your domain(s), don't wait. You don't lose anything at all :)

Thus my experience with WA Domain Registration! It took well under a half hour to complete.

One of these days I should do the same too.
Seems quite easy from your description :-)

It's been quite easy in all counts in Host Gator, much easier than it used to be in NameCheap, but WA presents the process in easy-to-follow steps so you can't go wrong.

Yes I done one the other day from namecheap and worked perfect, so easy.

Congrats!

Yay! :)

So glad it worked so well for you, Daniel!

Thanks a bunch Daniel. I too have domains ready to transfer but haven't got round to it yet. I am now inspired to do it this week!
Best wishes.
Terry

Thank you Daniel, I am thinking of doing the same myself, I will take your recommendation on board

I, too, had a fabulous experience and highly recommend it.

Also waited until the renewal came up. Cancelled auto-renew on NameCheap and had it transferred in about an hour with no downtime.

Thanks, WA!

Did all of the years transfer? Mine auto-renewed for two years with Go Daddy.

Congrats.

Hi Daniel, thanks for explaining the process in such great detail :)

I should have taken screen shots and made this into a training but oh well, the process is so simple anyway it's not needed :)

That would have been cool but, the info you provided is just as good and I am happy to know more about the process
