Almost Lost It!

Thursday evening I took my laundry to the apartment complex' on-board laundria. During the time I was washing the clothes, I had things to get rid of because there is not enough room or storage space in my apartment for it, and I don't use any of it. I went back to my apartment for the unwanted articles and laid them out on the table in the laundria. I picked up an opened windowed envelope (the kind that come with utility bills, etc.) On the back side of it I wrote a note,

"If you can use it, it's yours. Not enough room for it in my studio apartment."

This morning, I went in there to see if anything was claimed. It was all still sitting there on the table but the envelope was flipped over. I noticed my name was hand written on it and decided I didn't want anyone knowing where the stuff came from, so I took the envelope and tore the front with window off to leave just the note on the back side.

It was that envelope the person I worked for, for the last three months, put my pay check for the work done that entire time! I had opened the sealed envelope looked at the check and returned it to the envelope.

BAD MOVE!

That $2,217 check was sitting in a public laundria for two and one-half days! Someone handled it not knowing there was a check inside of it!

WOW! I'm still pretty freaked out over it even though I still have the check!

I would have never known what happened to that check had I not gone in there this morning!

I'm still having to rely on doing manual labour because I was never able to make my online business work to fully replace it. I was at a good start at one point but the bottom fell out which affected my living situation and other things.

This year it has been one thing right after another and it persists to this day. I thought that job was done and I was gearing up to knock out more old business when BAM!

Another job - tile floors to be laid, takes the precedence.

I'm going to go for another year at WA in hopes this vicious cycle breaks and I can finally get organized. Losing that check would have put me way behind!

Daniel: Sorry to hear of your NEAR catastrophy. Glad it worked out OK. You know buddy, everywhere I look and see, people are having a tough time here in the homeland. I understand that it's not much better anywhere else. Hopefully, the new year will start to upright our country and things can once again return to something that resembles OKness. Happy Holidays. DAN

That certainly depends on who takes the administrative positions, and for us, to roll with it, whatever becomes of it, and to adapt. It's the way of entrepreneurship.

I agree Daniel. Hoping you have a wonderful holiday season. DAN

Glad you got your money anyway Daniel.

Me too! When the current project I'm involved with is finished (different house, different job) that money is going to the bank.

Keep chipping at it Daniel, you will crash through the barrier.

Digging under it, around it, rather than through it will undermine it.

Whatever works, right?

You are indeed a very lucky person, Daniel. You were able to get what is actually yours or else, the next chapter is a hassle:) And just like you, I have to continue working and hoping that sooner, I can generate income thru online marketing and not worrying for the 8-5 job. Well, the best is yet to come. All the best!

At one point I got to where my WA income was handling half of my regular expenses, which were low at the time, however, the people, whose property I was living on, even though I was meeting my obligations, just would not see that I was growing my business and in fact, defying their demands that I drop the Internet business and go out and get a full-time job "like everybody else has to."

I kept going with what I was doing because it was producing results and they pulled the rug out from under me, "If you don't get a full-time job, you're gone!"

One day in April 2014, that's exactly what happened.

I had to move into a rental unit that cost me three times what I was paying, plus added expenses and NO INTERNET.

It took a while, but my WA income dropped off. By the time I did get moved out of the RV resort where I was, to a regular apartment where I live now I lost most of my income and to this day, I'm having to work under the table in construction jobs as a labourer to meet my obligations and get needed dental work done.

I still have one person active in WA and it is providing income, making it now well over two years of unbroken income from here.

Meanwhile, I have been slowly but surely working on my environment and obligations, getting rid of stuff I don't need nor use, cutting out some things that have been distractions, knocking out unfinished projects and gearing up for work on my campaigns like never before. It has been a long haul and I also get disability income because I am unable to do regular competitive employment - a development that occurred early this year.

My writing is going in new directions and I am narrowing things down to two major events for the rest of my life. I may be inactive now, but really, I'm not. I am now laying low and making needful preparations. It takes time.

You can see how naysayers can really ruin a business if they are the ones who own the property you live on. It's not ruined but it definitely has been interrupted.

So glad you found your cheque in time!!! All the best for the year ahead.

Yeah man! I went over there again today. Nobody is interested in the stuff I left - blankets, Bibles, a portable CD player, Internet marketing courses (Who needs them when you have WA!) some clothing. I probably should have thrown away Mike Filsaime's Butterfly Marketing course as it is full of instructions about OTOs and other stupid marketing concepts that I deem unethical.

Maybe the stuff I left there was the very thing that prevented anyone from looking inside that envelope!

I'm so pleased you realized the check was there and managed to retrieve it. Money is hard to come by and that would have been an awful blow. All the very best for 2016 :)

That's the harrowing part! Seeing my name on the other side of the envelope that had been flipped over occurred as I was heading out the door and to remove it was a fleeting thought! I almost didn't respond to it and continued on course back to my apartment! When I went to pick up the clothes from the dryer might have been my last chance to find the check.

Hi Daniel, that one would of been a heart stopper, glad it worked out ok for you. I can relate to that one takes some time to get back on track. Best wishes for 2016 think it's going to be good.
Alexander

I do hope 2016 is a better year - or different. This year for me has been one of cleaning out! I have about one-third of what I had when I got kicked out of my home in 2013. I don't regret it one bit. I think anyone who has a lot of stuff and trying to do a business should carefully consider the benefits of clearing out stuff they don't need, even if it has nostalgic meaning.

There is wisdom in this.

Only the very rich and the very poor have open, uncluttered living spaces. The poor out of want, but the rich out of wisdom, and perhaps a few of the poor see the same wisdom as well!

Had I not picked up that envelope again, I would have tore my hair out by the roots trying to figure out what happened to the check!

Glad it turned out okay!
Xin

For sure! Lessons learnt.

Oh my goodness!
Glad it worked out Daniel.
Val

Yeah! That was definitely not intended to be someone's Christmas!

W@W Daniel,

That was a close call my Friend.

I am glad that it had a happy ending.

Tony

Me too, but I'm still shook up over it! I'm going to tell my friend not to put anymore checks in envelopes, especially one that bills would come in. That was too easy to happen!

That makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one to make such mistakes!

I bet that You are, I have had similar instances and it takes a while to recover.
