It seems 50% slower maybe more for all I know.
It's the user experience that's important. I think it's fast enough. Make sure all your images are optimized so you don't get any of them slowing your site down in the future.
It could be your own internet connection that makes you think it's slow.

Are your images optimized?
Meaning do you reduce their size before you upload them into WordPress?
You can use smush it plug-in or something similar. I reduce the size for all the images i use on my website and then smush them with the plugin as well.
