Hey guys, I understand that google looks at comments on my site and can rank it better if they are quality comments with key words in them. I have a lot of "Good work","great po

Having comments is a plus, interaction with them will also work in your favor.

I'm glad you asked this question..

Dan, I have no answer, but the same question. My guess is that if you do not have relevant comments on your site, it will not help your rankings. I don't know if you will be penalized by Google for having them though:).

Hey everybody, thanks a lot for all this help. I only try to ask relevant questions when I'm really stuck or don't know if it's better to leave something or change it. Every time you guys come thru for me and If ever I am successful at this it will be because of all of you. My most sincere Thank you's to all of you.

No problem Dan :)

Exactly what you say here has always been the legacy of Wealthy Affiliate. It is what makes this community stand out above all the rest in this industry.

I am new to WA but quickly learned the truth to what you share here. I have participated in virtual communities for other trainings but there is nothing... and I do mean NOTHING as spot on and top quality as WAs training and community support.

Thanks for the question, great discussion and link for further explanation by Daniel.

Good question! And it is nice Daniel has the link for us. Thank you for the question and thank you for the link.

Great question, check out Daniel's link.

I see Daniel has give you the link, hope it answers your question

I too, wrote a blog on this topic, though mine is quite old, it still applies today. Yes, indirectly, these type of comments can affect your SEO and how others perceive the content they find.

Drive-By Comments: Avoid Them!

Thank you for providing the link. It was quite helpful to me as well.

Hey! I actually made a blog post regarding this info, how convenient :D Anyways, it is rather lengthy, but it will give you all the info that you are looking for, here it is: Why is it taking me so long to get results with SEO? This will make everything that you are asking lucid :)

Hey thanks alot. Been trying to find something exactly like this.

No problem :)

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help with this. I checked my page ranks and these ones were't that high in the rankings so I converted them into posts. Here's my site if you want to check it out.

You should check out ISR Self Rescue - would be perfect fit for your site :)

Thanks Angela, I recall running across a video on youtube about this. Young children learning to save themselves from drowning if I recall. I'll have to give it a closer look. Thanks for the tip.

No problem :) I plan on writing something closer to warm weather but my site is diff than yours and wouldn't fit on mine until then. I thought it was awesome when I saw it.

I have my home page as a blog roll with posts and have pages to.... this is the way Kyle suggests as having a blog roll with regular posts works best.. but some people prefer to have static pages

I prefered static pages at first but then my menus started looking clutered. I guess it's a personal opinion but I prefer the way it looks now.

You raise right questions, bookmarked this. Jovo

Thanks for the question. I got some good info from both the question and the answers.

Hey Larry, glad my question could help and I totally agree with you on the answers part. These awsome people cleared it up for me.

There is a plugin that allows you to do this and vice versa. Following this tutorial which also links to a video which explains clearly how to achieve the task:

Convert Wordpress Posts to Pages

Lis.

Thanks 2laurent4

Should have some pages in the menu, no dates involved, posts have dates.

Thanks Islandcat

I just did a revamp of my site and changed the majority of my pages into post. This is how I did it and I have no errors on my site:
You'll want to have two tabs open - a new post page and the page you are wanting to move.
Copy the content from the page but do it from the text tab (Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C)
http://screencast.com/t/XmczjNSG
Then go over to the new post and paste it there (Ctrl+V)
Go back to the page and copy your title, go to new post and paste title in new post title.
Now move the page to the trash and leave there for now.
Go back to your new post.
click publish then view the post. If you do get a 404 error, go back to the post editor and change the permalink (not the words, just remove a dash like this http://screencast.com/t/GLxn7YRg )
The URL will still be the same so will not effect searches for that title.

Now the first part of your question. This is how it was explained to me:
Oh, first - my about me, privacy policy and disclaimer are all in my footer.
Your pages would be information that you want to be sure anyone who visits your site will see. So I only have 2 pages in my header. One of which is about making extra money. For an example, if you like you can view my site here: http://mosm.info/

I did this too Dan and it's made the navigation on my site so much better. You can also add posts to the menu in the same way you can pages, Craig (Labman) did some training for this, HOA Part 2: How To: Custom Menus

thanks Kathy

Yes, it definitely is a big job! lol. Took me almost 3 days to do mine.

Hey Angela, thanks for the tips. They came in handy. I got my pages turned into posts, I've revamped my site, fixed some bugs, got my legal pages pisted and in the footer of my site. Time for-a day of

Excellent question Dan. I put a review as a page when I first started and the review did really well. You can put the review name along with any other set of words and I'm on page 1, position 1, sometimes 2. So I wouldn't change this page to a post.

It's nice to have posts because they have various additional features that allow for increased control in your menu (by setting categories and tags) and depending on your theme.

I had a post that has awesome keywords, I was ranking in position 30, but the phrase just wasn't a good choice, it didn't make sense. I decided to change the URL and lost my rankings, with a month I was back in the 30's, now up in the 20's.

My point is that if you have a good piece of content, I think you can change it to a post or change your URL and eventually gain your rankings again.

If your pages aren't ranking, then no worries. If their in the 50's, don't worry. Just take your URL into Google Webmaster Tools and delete the page URL. Then copy your page and put it in a new post. Submit your post URL into Google Fetch (Bing Fetch as well) and your good to go.

Hope this helps,
Todd

Thanks Todd, Yeah the pages in question weren't ranking too well. I don't get what you mean by delete the page url from webmaster, in the site map? I thought the site map updated itself everytime the google bots or spider scan my site?

looking forward to the responses. I have been asking myself the same thing

Help, Everything was fine last night but this morning in my visual editor, my background is black and my writing is grey. It doesn't affect my published post but it's very distract

Well all is fixed. I tried so many different things and nothing worked. At one point I even made it the situation worse. I couldn't log into my site when I made a mistake following some advice that I found in a wordpress help forum, the advice was good but I didn't follow it properly. So at this point I submitted a ticket and they helped me get back into my site and recommended I try changing my theme. So that's what I did and everything was okay after that. So I won't be playing with plugins anymore unless they are recommended thru WA. The plug in changed something in my in my stylesheet.css or my function.php . I'm just starting to understand how these files are coded but I won't be playing around with them on my site unless I test any changes I make on a dummy site first. My own stupidity but lesson leaned.. now to find a theme I actually like. Thanks everyone an thank you WA website support.

Wish I could help.

Hey guys, my website www.siteA.com infringed on a trademark, the website name only infringed, not the content. I created www.siteB.com and moved my site from siteA to siteB. Now

just do it at your domain cpanel. do url forwarding.

Where do you have the sites hosted? It sounds like you might have a redirect in place in the .htaccess file for siteA. If you'd rather not disclose the site name publicly, you can PM me the URL and I'll take a look at the site's headers. If there's a redirect in place, the headers will show it.

How to stop old website from redirecting to new website?

Hey guys, now that I have my domain, should I be deleting the siterubix version? Will google see it as duplicated information?

Even if it isn't seen as duplicate content, it is useless to me to keep my siterubix site.It must be taking up space on the WA servers that could be put to better use. I realize that my one small site is a drop in the bucket of server space, but if we all deleted all the unused sites we still have it could make a significant difference. My only question is if it would be a mistake to delete since Google has indexed it? I can't see why it would make any difference, but you never know. That's why I ask.

It is up to you if you want to delete it or not. Some hang on to them, but I personally chose to remove mine. Even though it was indexed, it has been moved to your new domain, so there is no issue of duplicate content.

Thanks Michelle.

No, they don't and you truly don't need to worry about duplicate content. There will not be such a thing.

Thanks, really wasn't sure and didn't want my site to suffer because of it.

You're good to go. :)

Hi Dan. Some will tell you it's ok to delete it, others say not to. Debatable. However, once you have your own domain, the old siterubix that you transferred will only transfer to the new .com or whatever you have. There will not be any duplicate content created.
Michelle

So Google won't see my siterubix and my .com site as two different sites?

When you moved your siterubix site to your own domain, a 301 redirect (moved permanently) should have been put into effect on your old site. If you'd like, you can post your URL here (or PM me with it if you'd prefer). I'll confirm whether or not the redirect is in place.
