Give Yourself A Pat

Sometimes we just need a bit of extra time for ourselves. And I do not mean more time per day (although that would be AWESOME if we could have more than 24 hours per day to spend, right?). I am referring to "sit-down-and-give-yourself-a-pat-on-the-back" because you did something.

And it doesn't even have to be something big. You don't have to jump in front of a speeding train to save someone's life. Hopefully, you won't have to do that ever.

I am talking about small things; things that you make which lead to a small step toward your goal, whatever that goal may be.

So, why am I sitting at my desk eating this chocolate ice cream? Well, because I pat myself on the back.

At Saturday, during the day, I encounter a problem with my website. The new posts that I published weren't showing on my site, to me at least. So I asked support to help. They could see my posts online, but I couldn't. Unfortunately, WA support couldn't help me. Not that they didn't want. It was my side problem. They told me to give it time.

But, that would mean I can't access my new posts and make changes to my site, and productive as I am (and easily frustrated when something isn't going along), I couldn't just sit waiting for something to happen. So I decided to search for help on the almighty Google. Well, guess he isn't so almighty after all — no help from him.

After searching for some time, I decided to call my friend Alen who is a system administrator and ask him does he have a clue what could be wrong. I explained to him the problem and told him that I couldn't see changes on my site on the computer, but I can on my phone. And the first thing he asks was: "is your phone on mobile data or wifi?" I told him on mobile data. Then I had to switch on the wifi and changes could not be seen on my phone also.

So he guides me through the process of changing DNS and some more other changes, which made result and my problem was sorted. And it took him only 15 minutes to help me sort my problem, which I was dealing with half of the day. Impressive from him actually because he wasn't even at his computer: he knew exactly where should I go and what should I do.

So why am I telling you all this? It isn't my credit the problem was sorted after all. But I took the initiative and try to look for a solution. And sort out the problem with the help of my dear friend Alen.

Someone from the WA told me today that I should give myself some credit for what I achieved (khm khm, Becca), and I am doing just that: patting myself on the back! And enjoying the ice cream :P

So, why don't you stop for a while and think what have you done today, yesterday or day before, that you could credit yourself for? Even something small. Give yourself credit for it, reward yourself with something you like! And I can guarantee you; it will feel good as chocolate-fudge-brownie I am eating right now ;)

Tell me how do you reward yourself, or how would you reward yourself? I would love to hear how you do it!

Best wishes,

Dalibor

I have a drink 🍺 and green-tea ice cream yummmm good.

Hey Dalibor,

I would give you a pat on the back too but I can't... too far away. Good job...I'm glad you give credit to yourself!

Have a great week and Cheers,
Monica

Thanks, almost I could feel your pat =)

Next time order me one beer ;)

Hmmm...have I done something deserving of a treat? Not this morning, I don't think. Good idea, Dalibor.

We all do something worthy of credit. Just need to recognize it and give credit to yourself :)
