Daily Commissions? PROOF That Patience Pays

Last Update: March 28, 2019

When I see new people coming to Wealthy Affiliate I see them asking all sorts of questions - like how much can I make? How quickly can I make it? Etc...

They're all pretty valid questions, especially for somebody new to this.

But what I also often see is new people getting deterred when they hear it might take a few months - or even several months before they start earning their first commissions.

The main reason (in my opinion) for that is because these days we live in a world of instant gratification. These days you can order something from Amazon & it can be delivered by tomorrow - you can put a meal in the microwave & it can be cooked in under 5 minutes...

Everything seams to be geared around speed - so I guess it's only natural for people to want to see results quickly when it comes to building an income online.

BUT...

I want to share something with you - I want to share some proof I discovered this morning that shows a little patience truly pays - and that a little patience could ultimately change your life.

You see, back around November 2018 I setup a brand new website... I added a few pages (about, privacy policy etc - as per the training here)... And I added 13 posts.

That's it... A few pages, and 13 posts...

Admittedly I made each of the posts pretty detailed & helpful to the visitor - making sure to include as much relevant information as possible (and present it to them in a nice format)...

But all in all it didn't take me very long to do - in fact if you actually added up the time spent writing the posts then it probably could have all been done in one long weekend (if I really put my nose to the grindstone)... Or maybe over the course of 1 week if I didn't want to bust a gut.

Since then I have done NOTHING to the website.

In fact to be honest, because I've been so busy with other stuff I actually almost forgot about it.

But I was just recently reminded about it when I checked an old email account as it turns out that for the most of March I have been making DAILY commissions from that one site.

Yep, that's right...

I set the site up in around November time, added 13 (pretty high quality) posts, did NOTHING else to the site since then... And around 4 months later have found myself with a completely passive income from that one-time small effort that I actually almost forgot about.

Take a look below at the graph which shows how the traffic to the site has grown:

The traffic has its ups & downs but it's clear to see that it's consistently rising...

And once again just to reiterate, I haven't worked on (or promoted) this site during any of that time. The growth has been entirely natural - all spiraling from that small one-time effort.

Now, is the site making me rich? No - of course not - but it is providing me with an additional, stable source of revenue... An additional revenue stream that 4 months ago I didn't have.

And can you imagine what those stats might have looked like if I had remained consistent & had been adding fresh content each day or even each week for all of those days?

The results could have been life-changing.

And by life-changing I'm not talking about being enough to buy mansions or supercars - I'm talking about a passive stream of income that for example could provide you with enough to potentially reduce your hours at your job - or allow you to travel more & get to see the world.

In my opinion that's life-changing all the same.

So What Am I Trying To Say?

Am I trying to tell you that all you need to do is start a website, add a few posts & then leave it - expecting to then find yourself living the high-life just a few short months down the line?

No!

What I am simply saying is that rather than focusing on your immediate situation & immediate results, you should shift your focus onto where you could be with this in 6 months or 12 months time. What could that extra income do for you, and what would it mean to you?

I can tell you that time flies, and 12 months will soon have passed before you know it...

What you do in that time is of course up to you, but I know with 100% certainity that if you do stick at the training here for that time then you will certainly find yourself at a great advantage.

And in the same breath - if worse comes to worst - if you no longer have the time to add content or no longer have the drive - just make sure you keep your site online!

The graph that I included earlier in this post really shows that if you do give up & close your site, you could truly find yourself stopping 3 feet from gold... And you definitely don't want that!

So, to summarise...

  1. Start your site! (as per the training)
  2. Add content with the visitor in mind - forget a little bit about word counts & rules - think about what you would want to see if you were the visitor arriving to that page having searched the keyword that your targeting. This is super, super important. Give them all the information they could want, in the most easiest accessible format for them to navigate.
  3. Stay consistent.
  4. Have patience!

Put your trust in the process, give it time - and I know you will be rewarded.

...and I'm signing out with this:

"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."

Thanks Dale this is very inspirational and something everyone who struggles should take note of. On a personal note, I have been trying to make it in this business for quite a few years now, but I have not been trying hard enough. What I have done is kept my WA Premium membership active, and like a lot of people on here life simply gets in the way. I also have an IT Business which makes me a liveable amount of money each month - but I know that I can make way more in my online business. I have therefore decided to make time to work on my online business, and if I aim for at least 2 posts per week I should get there...

Great post Dale ! :)

Your story is very motivating. I have heard others say if within a year you add about 100 well-crafted blog posts to your website, you will see a growing stream of income from affiliate sales that is a direct result of ever increasing traffic.

That would be a good time to scale up by using PPC ads. As well as starting a second niche.

At the moment I have left my niche website stagnant with 33 posts in it so that I can focus on my SAC and Wealthy Affiliate promoting website. However, when i get ahead of the SAC tasks I will add more posts on my niche website as time permits.

You have helped me have faith that this will all work out in the end.

Thanks much.

Edwin

Reading your site is like a glass of fresh water! It turns out that the new ones, I'm still new, we come from places with promises, I know WA does not, but we bring a small residual in our memory ...

For me Learn how Google qualifies a blog and how it looks at the activity and then recognizes that is a discovery, all I need to know, if those who are already charging as you show the results, then look ... I'm going to write as crazy .. jajaj

I'm already crazy writing and learning a lot, it really is a wonderful place ... thanks WA!

I am fairly new here and i love these stories, i think more people that are seeing any type of success should be posting this sort of material. It is very motivation and shows that the process works if you stick to the plan and do not give up just before it starts to happen. So thank you for the post it was a great and motivating read just as the weekend comes around to cram in some posts. And last but not least congrates to you mate and hope for more success for you thanks Paul

Very uplifting I am now inspired to keep going. I joined WA in July last year then I stopped as I was just busy with work and life then I rejoined again last month and decided I am really committed to do this . I have my challenges but considering what you have achieved in 12 months I am very inspired.
Thanks Dale.

Making money with a site that has 13 posts, impressive! I recently started a few side websites that I will only occasionally contribute to (but high quality), so your post gives me hope it might work.

But yeah, patience and time are the answer to every desire! Thanks for sharing, Dale :)

Don't get me wrong, it's nothing substantial - but commissions are commissions all the same... And once you get the first few it's just a case of multiplying your efforts to scale them up :)

Providing you focus on quality it will definitely work Zarina. Keep up the good work & have a good weekend ahead :)

Thanks so much for this post. I have recently found myself doubting my efforts. My day job can be quite demanding and lately i've had a hard time finding the extra time to write posts, even though I want to so badly. Until I can make affiliate marketing my main source of income the focus has to be put on my full time job.

However, when I do write, I put a lot of focus and research into my articles and ensure I have good keyword rich content. I created my website with the intent to not just bring people there for one post only to bounce them off to a product page via my affiliate link but to get them engaged in my website as well. So a lot of my posts have internal links to alternate pages on my site which require setup prior to me publishing that post.

What I'm getting at here is sometimes it's not just as easy a writing up a quick post, sometimes there's more involved and I am determined to keep with it and trust the system. Because I can't write posts as frequently as recommended, I know it may take longer to see the results, but your experience has proven it's possible.

Thank you!

I am curious to know your niche market that generates this ' newly-found ' revenue.

Second, your profile says you joined WA in Jan 2017 , there's a big gap there , almost 2 years which were unaccounted for. Did you do anything at all with your WA during those period of time? .

The point I am trying to get here is to determine whether this unexpected revenue is entirely coming from Nov 2018 effort or a cumulative/joint effort from Jan 2017 ?
Reply
Dale123 Premium
Hmmm, no time is unaccounted for - I started my business in around 2012, joined WA in 2017 - setup various websites since... And setup this latest one that I discussed in this post in Nov 2018 as stated.

Is the unexpected revenue from any cumulative/joint effort? Nope.

Does the experience I've gained over the years come into play? Yeah sure - I've learned the importance of putting the visitor first & providing content that truly & genuinely helps them.

Very Encouraging article!!!!! Thanks!

Before I joined WA, I have been writing a blog for about 2 years. I don't write regularly. Now there are 77 articles. Sometimes my students come from google search. Though I haven't earned much from maintaining that blog, but I have gained clients' trust and built my image.

Patience is very important in doing any business.

I believe I can have a more stable source of passive income if I learn the skills from WA properly!

I actually had a similar experience with a bootcamp site that I neglected for quite a few months (actually more than just a few). When I finally got off of my tail, I found out I was on page 1 of Google for several good "affiliate name review" keywords. I was so exited. Folks, this stuff works. The trainig works. I decided I am going to go to Vegas. It is totally up to me.

I'm new here and what you said is what I'm trying to go for here. I know that I'm not going to get any commissions tomorrow and probably for a couple of months or so. Right now I'm focused on doing things the right way, following the training and most importantly learning. Thank you for sharing this story today because it allows me to see that if I'm patient and do things right at the end it will pay off.

It is kind of funny to see this post because one of my websites that has been idle for just about 6 months now since I have been working on another one received an organic comment today which surprised me and really got me thinking about how none of those affiliate links work and there have been visitors haha.

Nice, very nice. I see you are not going to reveal the niche. That's fair enough.

Can you reveal the results of your keyword research (I mean the AVG, Traffic, QSR and KQI - not the actual keywords) as well as the type of posts (single reviews/ best of / how to use / informational type - that type of thing) you wrote?

Jay said in a recent live training, that proper keyword research is extremely important. I am therefore assuming that you have got this process fine tuned or somehow selected great keywords. :)
Reply
Dale123 Premium
Hi David, I'm sorry but the post above reveals as much as I am going to be revealing for now. Keyword research is important for sure! Without it, it's like throwing a dart at a dartboard blindfolded (and spun around several times beforehand!).

I think a lot of people get deterred from the amount of time it takes, because a lot are like me. Though I know it takes time and lot of hard and I'm putting in the effort. The $49.00 a month though I feel is a bargain, is still hard for me to come up with every month. People are wanting something quick, because they need something quick.

But, that's like keep purchasing a lottery ticket with your last dollar when you are looking for a quick fix.

I understand it, though, coming up with a solution for that problem would be grand, but for now it is what it is. More people want online because their life offline is rough. So, its hard to balance that aspect of it while you are building your business.

Most businesses fail the first 2 years, simply because people are under capitalized to start a business in the first place. This is by far one of the easiest and cheapest to get into.. but we are barely getting by like others said in their countries (for some of us its the same in the United States).

I know this will work for me, as at this point in my life I have a new perspective of Abundance and the Universe, and I know it will provide, and my past Karma is just that my past. But, other times in my life I was like that little guy digging for gold, I'd get right about there then something some major life thing would happen which made me have to start all over. Grace willing I'm past that Karmic cycle now.

Keep up with the good work and your awesome Posts Dale. Thank You !!!

Focus on providing a product or service that truly helps people and your business will never fail. Sadly, for many - who as you say "need the money" it is simply too hand to put a sole focus on that alone as the thought of money is overpowering... In my opinion it is therefore important to focus on financial foundations first, then look at starting a business - not starting a business because of the need for money. Thanks for your comment :)

I agree, but I see both sides. Desperation makes you want and do desperate things. Like I said I have grown spiritually and in knowledge, but I see the side that I was before and I know many others are too. My focus is helping people and as Deepak says in order to receive you must be willing to give (paraphrasing here) or else the flows stop.

I appreciate the advice you've given here. I'm not sure if you do the same, but I've started using an agenda to keep myself organized and to manage my time.
It also gives me several 'goal accomplished' feelings because it takes those small goals (with consistency) to achieve the greater goals in mind.
The mindset we have is super important when starting this. I highly suggest new (and struggling) members to heed the advice in this post!

Thank you, Dale, for sharing your results.

This is really inspiring and what this does is
that it keep beginners and those who are
not get results stick to the training.

I like to highlight the most important thing
you said in this post in addition to patience:

"I made each of the posts pretty detailed & helpful to the visitor"

I guess this is exactly the reason Google ranked
your site & send you consistent traffic which is
good enough for daily commissions.

The most amazing thing is that you did it without
any social shares or backlinks.

This really proves that the training at WA really works!

Since you linked your post to OEC training, I like to
know whether you build the site using OEC training or
bootcamp.

Once again, thank you so much Dale :)

Please continue to share your results, you may be
changing someone's life even without you knowing :)

Dale I agree that there is a lot of why can I not get from point a to z NOW!
I was not looking at this for instant money
I am looking at this as a down the road process to keep me busy when I get ready to retire which now could be sooner then I wanted to.
I have no real computer skills other than what I have from work.
So all of this is really new to me, but I see the real potential of this for me.
I am just struggling with the process, and have to go back to the beginning as I just do not understand all that is going on as I go thru the lessons. So I feel the need to always start over.
