What is your Metric for Measuring Success on Wealthy Affiliate Platform?

One of the yardsticks for measuring success on the Wealthy Affiliate platform is the outcome. Before coming to this platform, we had goals we wanted to achieve. Some of us came in because we were looking for an alternative source of income. We tend to measure our success or otherwise on how close WA has brought us towards realizing those goals we had. That would qualify as an outcome-based metric.

An outcome-based metric measures the goal. You set out to write 1,000-word content. At the end of the day, you counted the number of words you have written, you found you have not only reached but exceeded the 1000 word limit. The outcome reached, goal achieved.

Let’s take another example. You set out to master the art of SEO. You have read all the OEC course offerings on SEO. You even upended Jay’s library of webinars on SEO strategies and mastered them. You went to Jaaxy, plugged in some low-hanging keywords, picked one of them that met your specifications, and wrote the content. A few weeks later, you saw your content trending on page 1 of Google. Of course, you have clearly met your goal of mastering SEO. Your article on page 1 of Google is proof positive.

So what metrics will you use to measure your success in Wealthy Affiliate? Are you about to use the same metrics that you used in measuring your content-writing or mastery of SEO?

Some affiliates would use the same metrics in measuring their Wealthy Affiliate journey. As a result, they see only the gap and fail to see the gain. Just because the money has not started flowing does not mean that it will not flow if you put in the work and implement all you have learned.

In measuring our success as affiliate marketers, it is best for us to use a deeper metric than the outcome-based one. Identity-based metrics would look at a broader set of parameters than mere income. It will look at such things as what type of business owners we are becoming. How has the training changed our worldview? How has it expanded our horizon, our knowledge base? Has the training made us better entrepreneurs? How confident are we now in building websites?

Remember when we first stepped on this platform some of us were bugged by our non-techie background. When we used to think we were not techie enough to be affiliate marketers. I used to think so. Now we can build websites in any niche and monetize them. We have so much confidence in our ability that we can change niches if we feel for some reason, we are not in the right niche.

We are not the same greenhorns we were just a while ago. We have evolved into master affiliate marketers. Thanks to the training at Wealthy Affiliate.

These are the broad parameters we should be using to gauge our success or otherwise on this platform instead of using the narrow outcome-based metric of how much we have earned to date.

Please do not get me wrong. I am not trying to dismiss the importance of money in the scheme of things. We need money to meet most of the goals we have set for ourselves and our dependents. I am merely saying we should look at a totality of factors in measuring success here.

I know we do have websites here that have not started making money. I have had to go back to the drawing board and start all over again because it took me this length of time to realize I was in the wrong niche.

In spite of all that, I still consider myself a success in terms of the knowledge that I have gained up to date.

So how do you see yourself? Or better still, what metric would you use in measuring your success on this platform? Outcome or Identity or a little bit of both?

How is your book promotion site going, Jeff?

It's had a slight hiccup, Delroy! I now have the site in my hands since my Collaborator is leaving WA, so I'm at a temporary standstill! Things like this happen though!

    Jeff

You have a fantastic way of measuring success Dadaz. If you take that same ideal to life in general then success can be measured by the benefits we provide to family, friends and society in general. All the best. Jim

    Agreed Jim.

So well put! Thanks for your comment, Jim

    Great post Dadaz.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

    You're welcome Dadaz.

Totally agree, the gain and learning is beyond what I expected and I know that putting in the hard work now will reap the other benefits as well.
    Thanks
    Stephen

I agree that there's a lot of learning and re-learning that goes on on this platform. All that plus a dint of hard work to bring in the moolah!

I would agree with you Dadaz. We need to look at the big picture and see that we are also growing in confidence that we know-how and have the tools to build a successful business.

That was one of my goals when I started at WA.

Thank you for your helpful comment. Let me say that you are well on the way to realizing your goals on this platform and building a sustainable business.

That is so nice to hear Dadaz. I've been having a wobbly moment for the last two days as my stats dropped and I didn't know why, still don't. These are difficult times to keep going, so your blog came at the best time.

I keep seeing that great picture of the two guys digging for diamonds and one gives up and the other finds it the next pick swing. For some reason that keeps me going. lol

    You are doing great, Lily.
