Always Remember Where You Came From

It’s never a good idea to forget where you came from. Sometimes we have a tendency to do just that maybe because we want to forget the traumas that came with where we came from. We want to suppress it whenever it comes up.

That hunger fuels your motivation

I would be one of the first to tell you that it is better to face your future self and turn your back on your past with its dark secrets. I would also be the first to tell you that you cannot be running forward and looking back because it is a sure prescription for an accident

Today I want to urge you not to forget the pain point from your past that drove you to the Wealthy Affiliate portal. That thirst is the driving force behind your motivation. Granted that the driving force has picked up momentum since you came in here and immersed yourself in the online certificate course, it was this hunger that brought you through the gates of WA. If for some reason you have run out of steam and your motivation is low, all you need to do is remember where you are coming from and it will rekindle the fire in you

Where you're coming from keeps you grounded

A major reason why It would be wrong to forget where you came from is that constantly remembering it keeps you grounded no matter the level of success you have attained.

You know just as well as I do that you have achieved this level of success not wholly by your efforts but through the contributions of members who have gone out of their way to help you climb that ladder of success. You don’t want to be like the " self-made man " who believes that everything he has achieved so far comes through his efforts

When you forget where you came from, you begin to see yourself as solely responsible for your accomplishments. But when you remember where you came from, what you have been through, and what you have felt, it leads you to a better appreciation of those who have decided to travel the journey with you. You feel a sense of appreciation for those who have helped you along the way to your success and because you do not see it as solely your own achievement, you are willing to share your knowledge with other people and pay it forward.

Paying it Forward

Paying it forward is a core principle in Wealthy Affiliate. If you ask me, I would say it is a biggie. I came across this phrase for the first time when I came here. From the moment you step into the portal, you start reading the phrase,” pay it forward.” Promotions in rank are predicated on how well you have helped other members of WA make progress in their studies.

When you ask someone to pay it forward, you are simply asking them to repay your kindness by doing a good deed for someone else. When they do a good deed for someone, they ask that person to pay it forward. Sometimes, they even instruct others to pay it forward to more than one person thus leapfrogging the process and touching many more people with acts of kindness.

Conclusion

By each of us paying it forward, we can blanket the world with random acts of kindness across nations of the world and help to show that in spite of its ugliness, the world can be a lovely place . But this is only possible if we never forget where we came from.

Some very true words, here, Dada!

Thanks for sharing!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. You are welcome any time.

Much appreciated, Dada!

Enjoy your new day, my friend!

Jeff

That's my mantra. Never forget where you are coming from because one day you may need to go back

I'm also a firm believer in paying it forward

No wonder you are so grounded. Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment. I appreciate.

Yup Dada
My feet are firmly on the ground

....So your head is not in the cloud!

Lol Dada

You are so right Dada. If we can remove a pure profit motive and truly replace it with empathy and a desire to make a difference in other people's lives as a society we would be in a far better place. The mountain of divisiveness which exists today would be bulldozed for communities build on relationships caring for one another. Nice post bro.
Hugh

You are spot on, Hugh! Thanks for your great observation. I appreciate it.

Sure thing. You are welcome bro

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They are appreciated.

Thank you, Geoffrey, You are welcome.

Hello, Dada. When I first started reading, I was immediately agreeing. Then I got to the part where you said you'd be one of the first to say... turn your back on your past with its dark secrets... however you added looking back while going forward could be an accident. Ah, true that. It's just I have never turned my back on my past, however dark it may have been. It was, all of it, a learning experience to help make me what I am now. But we seem to be back on track together now. :)

And then you speak of paying it forward. I think I have done that my whole life, although, I looked at it as to do unto others as I'd have them do unto me. And that reminded me of the first person who truly needed my help. Not so sure they needed my help, but goodness knows, they deserved my support and aide and I was there. I was in grade school. I'll never forget. Then there was the first person who came to my aide. Was actually the bully who was bullying me in grade school, when one day she saw my embarrassment among others who laughed, and she came to my aide. After that, she was one of my good friends, kinda like my bodyguard. lol Yes, I had a good friend out of the "bully". What goes around comes around.

I don't know how many people that I've helped paid it forward. As far as I know, it may have surpassed how many I have helped... or it may have been none. Whichever way it is, I feel good with myself for helping others, for doing the right thing, for whatever it may be.

You are right, paying it forward, we can blanket the world with random acts of kindness across nations of the world and help to show that in spite of its ugliness, the world can be a lovely place. And yes, never, ever, forget where we came from. :)

Well done. :)

Sorry for having such a long response, I couldn't help it. lol

...Patty

Thank you so much for your pretty anecdote, Patty. It sure made interesting reading. With your acts of kindness, you were able to turn a foe into a friend!
