Having been a Premium member for no more than a week, I am already looking back on some of my experiences at WA with nostalgia. The last few days I have been working very hard to progress to the courses while at the same time posting quality articles at my website, isolating myself from the rest of the world and focusing only the work at hand. Now that I have reached the end of course 2, it's time to look back.

A mere two weeks ago, I did not even know what Affiliate Marketing was. As a university graduate in Ancient History, I had been looking for a steady job, but found no more than temporary employment agency jobs. I really wanted to work for my money and I was willing to accept almost any job. The problem was that my skills and knowledge - which most recruiters did recognize - were simply 'not what they were looking for'. To be honest, it was really depressing. It was not only the financial problems that worried me, but the idea of having no long term vision in life and not being appreciated for what I have to offer.

Last december I quit yet another job that did not suit me and I was desperately looking for something new. I just didn't want to suck up to employers with unfulfilling jobs who did not appreciate my true talents again. Online I was looking for ways to make money online, or at home, or at least as an independent entrepreneur. Being aware of the many scams, however, I was very careful. I don't know what exactly brought me to Wealthy Affiliate, but when I started looking for reviews I could only find pages and pages of lauditory reviews. At first I was suspicious, but then I realized: if WA can make anyone on the first three pages of Google write such positive reviews, they much be doing something right. I decided to give it a try.

In the beginning I was still very cautious. The prospect of earning money by maintaining a website on the subject that I love was appealed to me, but I did not sign up for Premium membership yet. I wanted some guarantee that I would earn back all the money that I would invest in WA and at first I tried to built my own affiliate website using only the information that was available to free members. However, I soon found out that the founders of WA were not that stupid. They aroused my interest, but left me wanting for more. That 'more' however, was only available to Premium members. Well played, WA. I decided to sign up for the first month, since the $19 membership was so low that even I could afford it.

That was about a week ago. Ever since that moment I have been working on my website and the WA courses for at least 8 hours each day, creating 1 quality post each day as well. I soon found out that I had to work hard in order to be really succesful, but that only made it clear to me that WA was serious business. I am not a lazy person. I do want to work for my money and doing work that I love certainly is fulfilling. Although I have not earned anything yet - I have not even added affiliate links - I feel that I have started on a new long term course in my life that will benefit me no matter what. I have created my own blog on the ancient world (http://ancientworldlibrary.com/) and I gave myself a reason to work hard everyday, even though I'm still unemployed. Besides, I have learned so many valuable lessons of online marketing and SEO that will be very useful in future jobs.

Now that I'm moving on to course 3, about making money online, I hope that I will soon make my first pennies. The idea that it is at all possible to earn money in such a way will be very exciting to me. Within three months, I hope to have a high ranking website that has already attracted its share of returning visitors. Hopefully I will have earned my contribution for the first three months back by then. Within six months I hope to have passed the €1000 a month mark, or at least to be on my way to making that much. I don't know if that's possible, but I will put in all my effort.
