Hello again - you actually have to apply to join an affiliate program such as Amazon. When you have been accepted you pick the product you wish to promote. You are then given a special link that contains your ID to put on your website. If a customer clicks the link and buys something you get the commission.

Diane has it pretty much covered ... also know that affiliate programs and networks you apply to will be looking for a content-rich website with some established traffic.
So it's probably a little premature at this point to be looking at monetizing your blog posts with affiliate links.
