Hey all!

UPDATE 7-24-19

I have used the Post Type Switcher plugin a few times now.

  • It works great.
  • It has

I used it quite recently on my new website, and it worked.

Thank you, Fran. Exactly the answer I was looking for. I appreciate it!

I don't use it....I ended up going into SiteContent, making the published page/post into a template and then using that template to repost it as the correct type. A little convoluted but let's me keep the pretty colored G when I'm indexed and such.

Once I'm done, I delete the incorrect page or post and the associated SiteContent item and template.

Ahhhh, okay. Thanks, Scott!

Any time!

I used the URL Inspection tool last night, and this morning I received two emails that my content was indexed, which was awesome.

However, I also received one error:

So I opened Google Search Console today, and ran the url in question, and it came back as indexed. Glitch yesterday? I don't know. I did nothing else. Just showing up now. So problem fixed!

those are the nice one - the ones that fix themselves!!

this maybe due to the organisation of your site - with a / on the end of the articles url or not.
if you open the article and copy the url - does this clear the error - if so that is the structure of your site.
good luk clearing it
phil

Huh. Ok Phil. I'll try it. Thanks.

I'm looking to add a Price Estimator tool to an offline business website. I need to list several items via radio buttons or checkboxes that would provide an estimated cart pric

Hey Cris,

No one here seems to be using this type of plugin, so I hope you won't mind my stepping in now to offer you a suggestion.

Google searching "estimator wp plugin" (without the quotation marks, of course) I was offered several different plugins of which 3 were highly rated.

You would be best to run the same (or similar) search and read through the reviews of each of those plugins to see which one might be best suited for your needs.

Hope you find this helpful.

Oh... so I can search outside of WA and use it if it's WP compatible? I didn't even think of that. Thanks for suggesting. I'll look into that today.

You might find the following tutorial very helpful in finding what you need:

I actually ended up just doing a google search for a price estimator plugin for WordPress, and several came up. I would suggest doing the same if anyone else is looking for such a tool. There are some free ones, but I'm finding that there are a few better options with more functionality for less than $30. Well worth it. When I select one, I'll return and share info again.

Hi cris1018,
Yes I heard about it, but never used it and yes, it is full of Algorithm. What is the most part you like about it. Let me know. Is it frendly enough? Thanks.
Sham

I don't use it. I'm asking if anyone else has experience with it. :-)
I don't know that I'll be choosing it since it doesn't seem to have very many downloads. Also, I emailed them directly asking some specific questions, and they never responded, soooo not real good in the CS area.

Hi Cris.

What you seek would require fairly complex logic, and I don't think that it would lend itself to out-of-the-box offerings. I believe that you will have to get professional help in developing custom code for your website.

Regards,

Oh, don't I know it! I do a little bit of coding ;-) I CAN write it. I don't WANT to. Plus when you are using WP, adding your own CSS is one thing, jamming a complex form with a lot of custom code into someone else's theme is another, and not smiled upon. Also, as I never used WP before WA, I don't know how it would respond to theme builders updates. I don't know about that whole dynamic.

Anyway, part of what drew me into WA was using WP to create the websites. I enjoy the building and customizing of websites, but get a little bored with the drawn out process of building from the ground up. WP is a good program to skip some of the routine code writing, and so much faster obviously. You have to give a little in the customization area, but it's a fair trade, I think. I'm loving WP!

Thanks, Tayo

" I do a little bit of coding ;-)"
Hmm. I wonder what marvels such modesty hides? lolz

You mention in your profile that you "like computers". I'm beginning to suspect, that is the equivalent of Tiger Woods saying something like, "I like puttering around on a golf course."

Don't worry, I see you! 😉

Ha! LOL! In the words of TootsiePop, "The World May Never Know." :-)

Sorry cris I am not familiar with these plugins. Somehow Zigaform does not seem like the right choice. I am sure there will be other comments of more assistance. All the best.
Michael

Thanks, Michael. I hope so!

With further research I've found a plugin called "Zigaform."

Not very many downloads, and, again, says "not been tested with current version of WordPress," but a review caught my eye that said the math won't work if multiples are chosen of the same item, which would be problematic.

Anyone familiar with Zigaform?

Use it? Like it?

Is the math algorithm something they've updated to accommodate multiples?

Hi, Cris

I'm very sorry I can't help you with this issue but I'm interested in any inputs. I hope somebody could provide you information about this matter.

Best wishes,
Lyn

I finally got an email back from Zigaform, and it wasn't very helpful. In not so many words they told me their tool doesn't calculate multiples, so that option's out for me. Why would you make a price estimator tool that doesn't include the ability to calculate multiples of the same product? I'm stumped, but considering others now.

Here's where I am...

I've long been through the OEC Training on Social Media setup. I've searched, read, viewed, and chatted. I'm still stuck....

As I understand it

I setup a completely separate FB account for my blogs using the blog email address. Then you've got a fully active FB account with all the features instead of just a page. Further, if your blog ever takes off to a point where you want to sell it along with the social profiles attached to it those separate accounts make that transaction much smoother!

Thank you for the input. I think that's what I'm going to do.

I had already set it up with my blog specific info/email but couldn't figure out a go around for connecting/networking without it going back to my personal page. I don't understand how so many people are using their personal accts, and thinking that they're separate, when you can't like or follow anyone without showing your personal info. How am I suppose to get likes and follows if I'm not giving them? I'm going to delete and start over with a new acct.

The whole idea behind the business page isn't so much for YOU to like and follow, but to attract new followers and get their attention. You wouldn't do that by liking them first, but rather by drawing their attention either through your blog, your Facebook posts, or ads. It works, but I still prefer an actual Facebook ACCOUNT for my blogs. It gives you more freedom, is completely separate from your personal account, and again makes it much easier to transfer it as a business asset if you ever decide to sell your blog.

Gotcha. Thanks for your help!

At the end of the like-comment-share bar, you have the option to like or comment as you or your page. Click on the arrow to the right of your mini-profile picture and choose your page.

Hi Steve :-)

Yes, so THAT part is great when I'm commenting on someone elses page/post, but I mean when I want to "like" another member's page, it "likes" as ME, not my business.

For example:
Because I'm brand new to FB, I have no Likes or Follows. So I'm trying to go Like and Follow others who will reciprocate, but when I like them, my personal acct shows up.

Is there a fix for that?

Steve, I just used your page as an example above. Please see the comment and reply!

Strange, when you change your icon I'm sure it should "like" as your page unless FB has changed things and you can only "like" from the actual page you are viewing from. Have you tried to "like" from your actual business page?
I cannot find any comment on my page.

Morning Steve. That's what I thought too, that when I changed my icon I could like & follow others as my new page, but every time I tried, it would do so as me.

I could like or comment in a post anywhere as my new page, just not like or follow anyone else.

I meant the comment on this page under Katy's thread :-)

Okay, sorry I misunderstood. I have been doing a little research on my own FB newsfeed and it seems you can only like as your page on totally open to the public posts from what I could gather.

Huh. Ok. I think this morning I am going to create a new account and then a new bus page under that and see if I like the functionality better. Although it does bring up a new set of questions in my head. Going to see!

It’s worth a try.

You're correct, your business page is "connected" to your personal page but to the public eye they are two completely separate accounts. Under your personal account on the left hand side you should see the word "shortcuts" and you will be able to click and view your business page there. When writing comments on your business page you can choose to either write then as yourself or as your business. You choose this option as you are writing the post.

Thank you. Yes, all of that, I was able to do. What I'm NOT able to do is like or follow other pages as the new business page I created. When I "like" another page, It "likes" as ME.

So, how am I suppose to engage as my business? What do you do to engage as your business persona when you connect with other similar businesses?

I don't think you can "like" another page as your business. Only other people can "like" your business page. You can ask your personal friend's list to like your page, but that's about it. The only way to get other people outside your personal friend's list to like your page is to either put up a FB ad, tell your email subscriber list, or post your FB info on your website.

Ahhhhh, so then they're not really separate.

I don't want to have hundreds or thousands of likes and follows under my personal acct. I also just noticed that when I click on Page roles, and view Admin, it has my personal profile picture and name, which I also don't want.

Sooooooooo, it looks like I have to delete this page and start all over under a whole new acct.

I think there's some very confusing information circulating on this. I've had several people tell me that the two pages are not publicly connected, but if every time you like or follow another page, it does so as YOU (your personal you), and when you look up the Admin, it's a picture of YOU, then they're not really separate.

Get what I'm saying?

The public can't see that you are the "owner" of a page, only you can see that.

The likes and follows won't be under your personal account. You get them to like or follow your business page.

It's confusing but they are seen as COMPLETELY separate pages to the public eye, just not to you.

Nope, I checked today, a number of times. I went and liked other peoples pages, and it showed up under my PERSONAL acct that I had liked them. (?)

Also, the Public doesn't see the Admin? Cuz usually that's public (?)

No the public does not see the admin. The ONLY way they know you're the admin is if you comment on things on your business site using your personal name/account and state that you're the admin. Otherwise, they have no clue!

Ok. Since you don't have a FB acct on your profile here, I'll use Steve as an example.

Click on his pic (ShihTzuSteve) and then on his WA profile you'll see his FB link. Click on the FB link to view his FB page.

Once on his page, go to 'About' (left side), and you will see a picture of Steve (not ShihTzuSteve) and a link to his personal page.

So, is that by design, or do you really NOT have a way of separating the two? :-/

Where on his WA profile does it link to his FB page, I can't find the FB link you're talking about?

Ahhhhhh...

So further digging, it appears you have to "Add" yourself as a Team Member to be seen in the 'About.'

So Steve must have manually entered his personal page in there.

Glad you figured it out!!

Yes, so that part's good!

But I still don't see a way to like or follow other people's pages, without it saying my personal name and showing up in my personal account.

You can't just "like" pages or people as a business. You have to get them to "like" your business page.

With Facebook you have to figure out how to get people to "like" your business, and there's no way for you to "like" someone or another page as your business.

With Facebook there aren't "people you like" and "people that like you" there's just "people you like AND people that like you" it's one in the same if that makes sense.

Therein lies the problem. How am I suppose to get likes and follows if I'm not giving them? Social networking is a give and take relationship. I'm going to delete and create a whole new acct and new page.

People's 'Follow Me' info is listed on their profile page underneath their blog posts, IF they've shared them.

I think if you click that it's asking them to follow you.

No it's just a section at the bottom of the profile page that shows you their websites and/or social media platforms they're on if you want to follow them. So if you click on Steve's for example, it just takes you to his FB page to view it. Some people add that section, some don't.

Ohhh yes I see what you're saying!
