Well, That Didn't Take Long! (Breaking a resolution on Day 1)

Well, Day 1 didn't go quite as planned. Ha ha! But when does it ever?

I had planned to get at least one paid blog done today, as well as one blog for my site, but family stuff interfered. Can't really complain about that. Family will always come first. It was nothing bad, just the fact that my wife wanted to go out and do some stuff together with the kids, so I couldn't really say no. Still, that means doubling up tomorrow!

I'm not going to let myself fall behind. I am going to be forming better habits this year and making a success out of my sites! I am feeling more committed than I have in a while, and more excited about what lies ahead, as well. 2018 is going to be amazing, between what WA has in store for us, the increased workload (and pay!) that I am receiving, and a couple of other projects that I am working on. I am looking forward to it, but boy will it be a lot of work!

I'm not going to shy away from it though. This is the year that I make my family proud and start having the success I have dreamed of. The Dude saved my butt again the other day, giving me yet another glimpse of how things can and do work out if we just let them.

Good times ahead!

A goal is not a goal unless it is accompanied by a step-by-step plan of action. Most people don't make goals, they make wishes. Wishes are easy to make but rarely materialize.

You have a plan. Because you do, you realize you are off course. you also know what you need to do to realize your goal.

Instead of making an excuse (having right priorities toward your family is not an excuse, it's a necessity) you make a workaround plan. This is what people who really want to make their goals do.

Congratulations. May you have even more success.

Thank you!
That's actually a really great way to differentiate between goals and wishes.

Hi Craig, I am really in to habit change as you can probably tell from my username. Over the past few years I have been experimenting with various strategies for habit change, with some really positive results. I have managed to form some fantastic new habits and eradicated some really bad ones that were having a negative impact on my life. Its great that you are looking ahead with such positivity and I wish you all the best for 2018.

Thank you very much! It's good to hear that you have had some positive results in changing your habits. Gives me hope!

The first week of building a new habit can be tough but it can certainly be done. If you focus on cultivating one new habit each month or two its amazing how different life looks after just one year. Eradicating bad habits is more difficult but sometimes they really get in the way of your good habits so there is no avoiding it. There are some great books and courses out there on the topic, feel free to message me if you would like any recommendations or advice. All the best.

Hi Craig.
Enjoyed this but I can't help but notice why our well-meaning, "good-intentioned" plans fail sometimes. Now, why would you make those plans for New Years' Day? :)))

You set yourself to fail before you start...
I just wrote a blog on my site on the very same reason plans fail even before they get started.

You have noble goals. Please use the SMART goal method when planning. https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/smart-goals.htm

Much success to you and yours for 2018, Craig!
David

Well, the thought behind it was that I simply wanted to make the most of every day of 2018. I want to have a set schedule that I will follow day-in, day-out.

I get what you mean, though. Originally it didn't look to be a problem, as we didn't have any real plans for the day. My wife is working today, so we were going to be lazy yesterday so that she could rest. She decided on the spur of the moment to go out and do something.

I understand though. It happens!
We mean well, but we can't always predict certain things. The important thing is to learn from every experience going forward.

Have a very productive day, Craig!
David

the best solution when you have a family especially on a holiday is to get up earlier say at least 1 hour while they're asleep to get your work done so you can spend the day with your family---but don't look at yesterday as a negative because what your children remember later on about yesterday will always be a positive

Yeah, I got to spend time with the kids. Never a bad thing.

I have been trying to get up earlier, but I have developed the bad habit of sleeping in a bit (partly because I stay up late working). My younger son can sense when someone gets up though, so it's tricky. I am beginning to suspect that he wakes up at about 5:00 and waits in bed to hear someone else get up, because he always comes running no matter when I get out of bed!

Great post, Craig! I like what you say about putting family first, forming better habits, and not shying away from the hard work it takes to be a success. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Blessings,

JamieFreedom

P.S. Quick question for you: what do you mean by writing a paid blog post vs. a blog post for one of your sites?

Just read your reply to Hirohurl, so no need to reply to my question. Thanks, Craig

I would have answered but wasn't online when you posted. My bed called. I answered. Ha ha!

You can't plan everything Craig, you know where you want to be. Your family are already proud of you and you already work hard, that is clear to see. It will all fall into place when the time is right!

I'm sure the rewards will appear when you least expect them to!

Wayne

Yes, you definitely cannot plan everything! Still, I like to accomplish at least some of what I plan in a day... Well, as long as the rest of the week is productive, I should be ok.

Enjoy your productive week, thanks Craig!

Wayne

You sound like you have things covered on all bases Craig! I am happy to hear it.

I am not doing anything today since I am really sick. This bug just got and worse and worse since Christmas. I have not had enough energy to think much about specific goals.

I hope you feel better soon!! Sunlight, vitamin C, colloidal silver, apple cider vinegar in cranberry juice and taking liquid iodine as a supplement to help thyroid function better, work together to help me fight off most illnesses. I know that's quite a list, but I hope it helps. Feel better soon! :)

JamieFreedom

Thanks. Sunlight is pretty hard to come by now in Alaska...so I take tons of D. My thyroid is already messed up so I used to take iodine all the time but stopped when we moved and got on well water so I finally got away from all the junk in city water. I should try it again though. Thanks!

I give my kitties apple cider vinager and have a post about it on my website (just rub it diluted into their fur and then they clean themselves and lick it off). It really helps their upper respiratory infections. I guess I should try that for myself too.

I have found potassium and zinc really help me generally as well as magnesium and B12 and D.

Thank you for the suggestions!
Jessica

That sucks. Being sick is never fun, but it's too bad that it's hitting you at this time of year. I hope that whatever it is, it's almost ru its course. Feel better soon!

Hi Craig,

What's that about planning, when you forgot to check your plans with your wife first!?!? LOL!

By the way, by "paid blog," do you mean you get paid to write blog posts for other people? Content writing is a good way to make some money online either to cover your business expenses, or even as a source of income if you leverage your writing...

Yes, starting a couple of months ago (end of September, I believe) I was asked by the husband of an old friend to help him out with his content-writing company. He was getting more work than he and his partner could handle.

I am very happy to be doing it (it's my only income at the moment) and the pay is pretty good I think (though I don't have much to compare it to), but I am hoping to be able to focus more on my own site as the year progresses. I'd prefer to be writing for myself.

And yes, making plans without checking with the wife is a recipe for disaster! Ha ha

Kudos to you! Demanding though it is, if you can write quality content your services will always be in demand.

I know how demanding it can be as I used to run a PLR article service, writing 10 unique articles for my monthly subscribers who would log in to the members' area of my Wordpress site to pick up the new content.

Good luck with your own blog writing in 2018.

Very good, Craig...
If we are to reach our goals we must charge ahead, even if charging ahead means breaking a resolution before we finish typing it out!

Actually Craig, by publicly admitting it, you pretty much revise the resolution to adjust for family obligations. If you do it tomorrow, here in the real world, I say you are ON-TRACK... I believe in those good times ahead.
Just sayin...

Yeah, I am going to try to take a big-picture view and say that if I manage to get all my work for the week done, it won't matter if I miss a couple of hours or even a day. I can make up the work before the weekend, so I am not too worried.

Not to worry Craig, I already broken my new year's resolution.
There were 2 hershey bars in the frig. The devil made me do it.

hahaa....You're not alone.

We can only start from where we begin. sometime in the future!

hee hee hee......You can do it. Not sure I can! lols!

frank

Same here. There was no more room left in the fridge for the pavlova and it had to be eaten. :)

Darn those Hershey bars! Ha ha

Well, tomorrow is a new day, and course you can do it! We all can!
This is going to be an amazing year. I look forward to seeing you succeed!

Then we'll have more Hershey bars to celebrate!

See! See! I told Craig.

So we come here to do our "Confessions!"

THANK YOU CRAIG.. you too IVY T you have to thank him, too!

Join me willyaah IVY.

THANK YOU CRAIG NOW WE ARE FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!

=)

Thank you Craig. We have seen the light (inside the fridge) and we are now free! :)

THE LIGHT! THE LIGHT!!!

Ivy now I'm a believer in praying to the frig!

"THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE FRIG!, YOU WERE THERE ALL ALONG, I WAS BLINDED NOW I SEE THE LIGHT FRIG!

THANK YOOU SO MUCH!"

ohhh boy Craig, your post have enlightened everyone here!

I better not bother Ivy she's praying too!

Frank =)

ha ha! I ahev been doing my share of snacking, too... If I keep it up, the only thing I will be Free of is pants that fit!

Ohhh boy! where is this leading to? lols!

I want to keep up my respect of the fridge, really, I do. But my faith is still shaky, despite the sugar spike. I need to know: is the light always on, or only because we're looking at it?

Man, solipsism is such a tough gig. ;)

Y'know Ivy I personally in humble opinion
can't say. But everytime it calls me and I open the door it's always on. I swear Ivy somehow she knows!

She even tells me if candy is there.

Whoa. Sentient whitegoods!

Yes.....What????

"Sentient whitegoods!"

Wha????

Your fridge man, it's become *artificially aware*. How does it know to tell you when the candy is there? When did she first display signs of sentient life?!
