Setting Up My Autoresponder
Well, I finally got around to looking into the whole autoresponder business after the feedback I received. I thought it was going to be a pain in the butt doing the various messages, but as it turns out, it's kind of fun to play around with.
One question though: how many messages do you normally include? I know it varies based on what you are trying to accomplish, but for right now I mainly just want to have something basic. I'm thinking maybe 5 messages: a thank-you/ confirmation, following by 4 quick, introductory ones.
How many are you all using? How do you normally set it up?

I agree with Davida (@DShensky). For me, if I receive too many emails, I feel pushed and I'll unsubscribe. The 5:1 ratio and every 2-3 days is optimal.
I wish you the best of luck with this. I'm not to that point yet, but soon will be. You're a great writer, Craig, so, I'm sure you'll craft your emails to not sound sales-y in the least, but persuasive and conversational.
All the best,
Sue
it depends on what you're selling. When I get too many sales letters constantly bombarded by coaches, I exit their list, but if it's an email from a company whose clothes or jewelry I've purchased I like to look at pictures of their products
I'd say every 2-3 days is a good start and make the ratio 5-1---send 5 emails with tips they can use to 1 sales letter---you'll find the open rate on your emails much higher
