Seems Like I Need to Connect Better

I'm slightly disappointed. My first, and thus far, only premium referral didn't renew after their first month.

I feel like it's a failure on my part. I tried to reach out and offer help, tried to be supportive, but they are gone now. I can't even find their profile anymore.

My main reason for feeling bad about it is not so much due to the lost commission, but the fact that after briefly chatting with them, I felt that WA would be extremely beneficial to them, on multiple levels.

It's possible, of course, that they will return at some point, but I think I really need to work on how to help someone understand the opportunities afforded by joining WA.

Step by step. I'll get there. I just wish I had been helpful enough for them to stick around. Next one for sure!

That is disappointing. But if u can get one u can get many more to join. Just one leaving does not mean u did any wrong unless it becomes a trend. Then there is learning in it which will help u better yourself.

It might not have had anything to do with you though. Maybe it was not what they were expecting? Could they have been looking for something that makes a real income right away?

Entirely possible. I can live without the few bucks one member would earn me. What I wanted was to see them succeed and build something for themselves.

My first and only premium referral cancelled after the first month so I know how it feels, Craig. I think some people want an easy ride or not committed for the long haul and unprepared to do the work required. I'm pretty sure it was going to happen that way anyway and nothing to do with you or I.

I suppose so.
I get frustrated when I see people on Facebook and elsewhere basically looking for something they can sign up to, do nothing, and earn thousands of dollars per week. It's frustrating to know that if these people really want to change and improve their lives, they have the ability and opportunity, but they choose not to take advantage of it.

If you had a brick and mortar store would it bother you if a customer came in, browsed for a while, then walked out without buying anything? Would you get upset if a customer made a return?
Maybe we want to succeed so much and help others so much that we take things too personally. Remember, as with any business, it’s a numbers game.

I get what you're saying. If it was my OWN brick and mortar business, then it actually might bother me, lol. I'd likely feel bad for not having something that interested the customer, though I know that you can't be all things to all people.

I accept that it all comes down to numbers. You get X number of visitors to your site and maybe 5% of X sign up. Then 5% of those who sign up go premium. But when you don't have the numbers, you want to hang on to what little you get.

And like I said, part of it is that I was hoping to see them become successful. It could be that they wanted to make money in their first week and felt discouraged. Or it could be that they just felt that this wasn't something they could do. Whatever the case may be, I felt that they could be successful here, and outside of whatever them staying premium would do for me, I wanted it for them.

Yeah, I guess a lot of people just aren’t there yet. It shows to your goodness that you want others to be successful, but you can’t do it for them.

My sponsor barely contacted me when I joined. When I asked a question I got an answer that seems simple now but, at that time, it was Greek to me. I googled the information to find out what it meant. That said, here I am almost 3 years later. People either see the value or they don’t. It is definitely not you.

Yes, I didn't get much personal help either. I had to want it and be interested in it myself.

I sometimes feel the same way, Craig. You do all that you can to engage the premium referral member who joined under you. However for some reason the person eventually quits, no matter what you do.

Don't place blame on yourself as I refuse to do that very same thing. In all of my messages sent through the system, and something that I learned through Jay's live training classes, near the end of my message I always ask that referral to please contact me just to acknowledge that he/she received the message. Lately, some referrals can't even do that!

I've learned to look at it this way in refusing to take the blame: If the person could not at least reply back with a short message indicating that he/she had at least read my note, then to be honest perhaps all along this person was not that interested in really taking advantage of what WA has to offer through the training modules to allow him/her to slowly build a profitable online business.

Even though I preach the ideal that WA, just like any other legit marketing/training program is NOT a get-rich-quick scheme, (also plainly stated as clear as a bell on my landing page) some referrals just have the stubborn and misguided thought in their heads that they'll quick build up a fortune through their online business ventures anyway. When it does not happen in a month's time they get upset.

Again, Craig don't place all of the blame on yourself. A percentage of these individuals just do not have the right type of attitude which would enable them to create success for themselves in building an online business.

Jeff

Ever see those old infomercials where the presenter would be demonstrating a product and the audience members would be bouncing in their seats, waving fanned-out bills in their hand going "ooh! Oooooh!" ?

When I go on Facebook (as one example) I see other people posting things like "Make Money on Autopilot! No Investment or Effort Needed!" they get responses like above. Within seconds posting, they get an explosion of "Info please!" and "Sign me up! Pick Meeeeeeee!" But if I post something about a legitimate opportunity that takes a bit of effort.... *crickets*.

As I have responded to a couple of other people now, the thing that bothers me is that I got to talk to this person and see how it could really help them if they were willing to put in the time and effort, so it's frustrating to think that they are walking away from something that could change their lives to pursue scams and pipe dreams.

What approach are you taking? I dont know if there are modules on how to promote WA.

Being new here I am just floating around to get a feel for ideas, thoughts, experiences. I find myself asking these questions, How is WA most beneficial to you ? How long have you been using it? How do you use it? How does it inspire you and improve your quality of life? Is it fun, how?

What are your success stories?

Hi, there is so much information at WA, that members who are few years here, still learn something new. Internet changes and courses are updated too. If you want to find an answer, just type in the search bar above where is " Hey,......search for help here...". Most of the people came here to learn how to be successful online. WA is the great place to achieve your goals. Cheers:)
P.S. You can ask directly the person who invited you to WA.

Much information indeed, there are many topics and threads. I was asking those questions a bit more rhetorically in response to this discussion board, but I am curious, however, as to what marketing approach many of you are taking to promote WA? I hear about wanting to create success for others but how do you define that success, how does it impact your day to day? What do you love about it? Pardon if I am posting in the wrong place, please advise if there is another forum for these types of open-ended chats.

Sorry, I do ask a lot of questions.

These are great questions and certainly worth asking.

For me personally, the people who became my referrals pretty much all came form Facebook, where I tried to interact with them personally before they came here. One or two may have come from my site. I blogged about this a little while ago, saying that this approach, while horribly inefficient from a time perspective, was at least having some results.

When I say that I want to see others succeed, I am generally, but not exclusively, referring to earning money. Most of the people I have interacted with are in need of financial assistance, or just desperately wanting to change their lives and escape from whatever work they are doing. I know that for most of them, WA could be very helpful if they could manage to invest the necessary time and effort.

In terms of how WA impacts me day-to-day, it has been very helpful in a number of ways. It has led to my working online and starting to earn money (not a ton, but last month I made a little under $700). In my case, it hasn't been through affiliate marketing (yet) but the training I have received here is responsible for the work I am doing in content writing and now some editing for other sites.

Less tangible effects have included the changes in my attitude and outlook on things. This community is very positive and supportive. I often think of my time here at WA as my "daily dose of positivity".

In terms of success stories, my go-to thread is this one: I am not sure if this answers your questions, or if you want to know more. Feel free to ask anything you like, as often as you like.

You do the best you can to help and it always hurts when your help is rejected. It’s not you, it’s them. This isn’t for everyone . As they say in sales, every no brings you closer to a yes.

Yes, I try to keep that in mind. As I have been commenting though, what is sad to me is knowing that WA could legitimately help these people if only they would take action, so I feel like I haven't done enough to make them see that.

But as you said, this isn't for everyone.

May they be replaced with many more!

You know the old saying...You can lead a horse to water, etc. Perhaps WA wasn't what they were looking for, that's why they left, or perhaps they expected to become rich overnight, Craig. You can't really tell what goes on in people's head.

That exact saying has been going through my head. I know there could be any number of reasons for them to leave, but I still find it unfortunate because I know from communicating with them that this could have been an excellent opportunity for them.

I'm not getting down about it, but I do have a sense that perhaps I could have communicated better with them.

Perhaps you can get some pointers from some of the veterans here. I haven't started trying to get referrals yet, but when I do, it would be good to know what would be a good approach not to let them leave after just a month.
